I don’t understand how this patch is bad?

Am I the only one who doesn’t understand how this patch is bad? Like this is good for higher ranks and lower ranks and OWL. First of all higher rank mt players can play something else than orisa sig and have a better chance at winning. In lower ranks this change doesn’t really affect anything bc you can win with anything. Finally owl will be entertaining again with a better meta. Genuinely confused how this could be perceived as bad for anything?

Forcing a meta change by making every team switch from one pair of heroes that they play every game to a different set of heroes that they will STILL play every game is not going to seem like much of an improvement in a couple months.

Then once the honeymoon feeling wears off people will be complaining about that…

Yeah I’m not saying I want this to be meta for a year like ds I’d prefer big changes every quarter but idk how feasible that’d be

That’s just how a meta works. There’s no way to balance the game perfectly. The best thing to do is to keep the metas fresh and not let it drag on for a year

I wannna keep the meta switched up tbh it’s not fun to watch the same meta for like 6 months

The problem mostly comes from Orisa and Brig.

Both are heroes that are not seen much use for the average playerbase because of a series of nerfs that made these heroes harder to play with and get value in uncoordinated environments such as solo queue.

Nerfing heroes to oblivion is not the way to go tho…

Or you could try making it so that multiple different strategies are equally viable and that the choice of one over the other becomes a tactical decision, either to suit a particular team’s playstyle or as a strategy to counter-pick something else?

In what world does it make any sense for a game based around mid-game hero swaps to have only one set of 6 heroes that everybody plays until a balance patch forces them to change to a different set of 6 heroes a few weeks later?

Yeah definitely orisa who wasn’t only good with sigma and co ordination and I think they should maybe make her more of a anchor bunkery tank than a hybrid like she is Rn. The point of brig is to be low risk low reward right think these changes move her into a good place

The entire patch was unnecessary. Forget the OWL and what’s “fun to watch”, I care about what’s fun to play, and this patch isn’t fun to play.

We gotta start somewhere. I dont expect power creep and major changes to come until ow2 so at least this is smthn. Also I think the deva are basically just rotating metas with patch notes rn

Then let them have picks/bans. Stop forcing bad meta changes. All metas should be viable and teams should be able to pick/ban in pro settings.

Stop using NBA tournament rules for a backyard hoop session

How? Genuinely? New heroes have come into meta rotation and more strats are viable. Also double shield and brig have been meta for 1 year we need to allow new heroes into the meta this wasn’t unesscesary

Then have fun with a bleeding player base and this team has shown me nothing right now that they are able to balance for OW2.

The problem there is you would be forcing a meta pick/ban with that system if players picked.

For there to be diverse metas they would have to enforce rock, paper, scissors but the community doesn’t want that.

But my point was the changes are good for owl and ranked

Solo play orisa as the only tank and show me your win stats with her then after this change.

It makes most people in lower elos be stuck in rein jail

If it was the right heroes, the right nerfs. This dev team is so clueless, they demonstrate time and again that they couldn’t even balance Pong.

Don’t think it’s a bleeding player base. It’s the 7th most played game in the world. I’m just happy to see aggressive changes

Yeah, Orisa only coordinates good with Sigma now, every other combination with her will be hard to make it work just because she was nerfed because of one good synergy she had.

In Brig’s case it’s weird that her kit has a melee weapon and a shield, but she was nerfed so much that is risky to use them, instead Devs pushed her to be more in the backline just whip shooting and distributing packs.
A hero that is more about pressing Shift and E than pressing mouse buttons in her ideal range.
