I do NOT notice a difference (6v6)

As a DPS/Support player, the games just play out the exact same as in 5v5. The addition of an extra tank does nothing tbh. This is either because tanks being to weak in 6v6 or (the more likely option) 6v6 does not differ much from 5v5.

As a supporter I have one whole extra person to babysit. Huge difference to me.

It’s mainly because most players are folks who have ever only played 5v5. If you get a team of og 6v6 players, the differenve is night and day.

Weird I absolutely notice a difference and I’m a support player.

I think the game flows a lot better in my opinion.

Agreed! You can definitely notice who’s played 6v6 before and when they haven’t :joy:

Tanks die. A lot.

Like it’s no longer instant death if I try to challenge an Orisa as Reaper. It’s by no means easy, but there’s a chance.

Also, playing characters like Ball is now actually possible without throwing the game. I can finally be a disrupter tank without having to worry about leaving my team alone.

To be fair, as long as you had a Tracer on your team Ball was always possible.

It’s early days yet but so far, OP, I can’t say I feel the same way. I’ve been Torbin’ it up and the lack of the crit passive on the tanks is extremely noticeable to me. We can talk about the effect on the gameplay being the same in real and general terms, but the feel of the moment-to-moment gameplay is different, imo.

For the first time in a long time, I didn’t actually dread having a Ball on my team.

In fact I had a few games where I did, and it worked really well.

Some kits/heroes just really didn’t translate over to 5v5 well at all.

Maybe, but when they swapped Sombra/Ana/Brig/Lucio/any thing with 2 legs and a CC/etc. it became a nightmare to play Ball.

Now you can just roll around and boop people without having to stick around for as long.

I think thats massive copium, at least for like 90% of the playerbase aka all the people below mid-Diamond. The switch to 5v5 was mainly making people having more impact and not play that differently. In my experience, people play as a team (besides flankers) with 5v5 or 6v6. The complete narrative “OW2 is like deathmatch” always felt weird to me.

So this version of 6v6 is heavily modified. It runs on the smae super powercreep 5v5 patch with only minor differences. If tanks dont run synergy the broken support and dps will still run the game.
The tanks just cannot match up to all the damage and healing creep. Reaper and torb are nearly as tanky as most tanks. That combined with the dps passive still being in and the s9 health changes and you get a recipe for disaster.
This is not what 6v6 is, this is a very poor representation

You can play ball with whatever in 5v5. You just got to get to diamond or above and you wont have 1-2 team mates that walk directly into the enemy tank and die.

This is so true haha. i play all roles but main dps, and holy heck do i have agency and impact again. People getting punished for horrible misplays is cherry. Its nice not having to tuck my tail and run away in horror the second a kaiju notices i exist.

There are glaring differences, its just that 6v6 is vastly superior.

Or an extra person to take damage so you don’t have to pocket all game actually, you have room to make impactful plays

as a tank maybe you are weaker but having a second tank helps a lot, you can risk and flank more because there is another tank, i can finally use the ball and zarya like they should be used, off tanks, not main and only tanks, the ball cant protect anything. some tanks suck, doom, junker queen, hazard, but is easier to fix them than fix 5vs5

as dps i can only say, tanks die, you are the main dps from the team, the tank dont get more kills than you, only if you are bad, it feels good being able to kill a tank

healer i havent played but i noticed a lot of people have no idea they have to heal both tanks, 5vs5 made a huge damage to how people play the game
