Nerfing characters make the game feel stale. With hero bans, characters do not need to be tuned down too much. I would rather have certain characters get banned 25% of the time, than be boring, stale, or useless. It’s impossible to balance characters for a bronze and GM player at the same time. Unless they individually balanced characters for each rank. For example: They give a difficult hit-scan character a little more damage in Bronze lobbies, and make the hit-scan character a little weaker in GM lobbies.
Bronze and GM players will ban different characters. So I believe some characters will be allowed to be a little overturned. Which will make the game more fun to play. Overwatch used to be known as a game with broken characters back in 2017. “If everything is broken, nothing is.” It’s more hit scan favored through the years of balancing the game. Aim is more “skillful”, which is fair to cater to. But this reduces the amount of characters you can choose from, and melee/utility/projectile characters are less fun to play with.
