You say this but the game has had 2 Japanese yelling weaboos who summon dragons out of nowhere while fighting off a talking gorilla that flies around in a jetpack next to a cowboy since it came out.

I think the other goofiness still maintains an aura of seriousness- or it can be whimsical but appeal to adults as well. Hamster just doesn’t.

Yeah… Pretty much. Junkertown as a whole is just a side story. Characters like Hanzo, Roadhog, Junkrat, and even Mei are just side characters.
What story are they really pushing in terms of the main story conflict going on (Overwatch vs Talon)? Nothing.
Games with hero rosters have characters like that.
