I can't queue with my friends for unknown reason

Greetings everyone,

Everytime i want to join my friends for a competitive ranked queue, i get the message with “Group skill rating is different or whatever” i can’t recall. The weird thing is, this only happens to me and not to my other friends…for unknown reason

I am at 1220 SR points (Bronze), My brother bought the game and he hasn’t done his placement matches, but i can’t queue with him

Yet my Platinum friend, who obviously has higher SR than me…can still queue with him…how is that possible?? I belive something is wrong with my account?

or what is SR rating in this game means for competitive? is it the level of the account that we see in quick play and stuff? or it is something hidden we don’t know? (if it is the level of the account, then it makes sense since i am higher than all of them, and played longer time)

may someone shed the light on my matter? and if it is a bug where can I lay this topic so I can fix this issue?

Kind regards

I guess your brother’s MMR (and eventual SR) must be higher than yours, and closer to your friend’s.

You must be within 1000SR to be able to group (below diamond I believe) so it sounds like when your brother finishes placements, he is expected to get an SR higher than 2220

Boosters have been using deranked/thrown accounts in Bronze to duo-queue with unranked accounts to boost them. It’s possible that Blizzard has changed something to prevent that – either blocking Bronze accounts from grouping with unranked accounts, or preventing unranked accounts from being in certain group sizes. If your brother is using the same Internet service that you are (in the same house), then Blizzard might be blocking it for that reason.

It’s only 5 placements. That’s not that many for your brother to do solo.

so you are saying since i am bronze i am unable to queue with my brother? and yes we are using the same internet provider

however, i have 2 other friends of rank silver and gold and i can’t seem to queue with them in ranked, but my (unplaced) brother can…so in order for me to get rid of this weird curse, i need to get out of bronze? xD; that doesn’t make much sense imo

I need a solid reason for such weird matchmaking, just because I am bronze i still have the right to join friends in ranked games  this is actually killing my motivation to play this game since its unfair…even league of legends allows bronze to queue with silver, but this game doesn’t even allow me to queue completely with any of my friends for competitive, Regardless of SR…I really need a detailed explanation on whom i can join and whom i can’t for competitive

Right-click on Competitive in the menu. In the screen that opens you should find a button that explains the SR ranges you can group within, who unranked players can group with, etc.

It has nothing to do with you being in bronze. All competitive players who want to group up must be within a certain SR of each other.

For plat and below, which includes bronze, the SR must be within 1000 points. If your brother is 1000 points higher than you, regardless if you are bronze, silver, or gold, you cannot group for competitive.

Even if your brother never finished placement games, OW has undisplayed ratings that follows the same limits.

the first placement match is at 2300 SR.
