I am the only one who doesn't like perks?

I don’t know I feel like perks is targeted towards the casual audience and all that. Which is fine… But then they decide to add it to the base mode. And that’s what really rubs me the wrong way. And a lot of the perks are just made for casual flex players who don’t care about skill or individual characters. Like did you see tracer’s perk? Full blinks refilled on recall. Like bruh. Clearly ridiculous and overtuned and just removes the skill from Tracer and makes her just a noob hero.

Like again I don’t mind hero perks if it wasn’t in the main mode. It’s just the fact that it is in the made mode is my issue with it. It’s like having April fools as the main mode. I am sure people who don’t care about the game at all would love that. But people who do care about their characters etc and put time into mastering stuff, is just completely put to the other side and thrown away.

perks are like 5v5. its new and in any deserted game it feels good to get anything. in 6 months time people will hate it.
perks will make the game more casual.

Eh I mean I will be honest and say that I like 5v5 because it allows you to make plays. But I will say with 5v5 or 6v6, it still allows you to play your heroes in some regard and requires skill. Like you don’t have your hero completely taken away from you.

But like with hero perks. It’s a way bigger change than role queue, 5v5 or 6v6, no hero limits, etc. It’s completely changing everything. It’s like power creep on purpose and a gazillion reworks that mainly reward noobs with the perks. It’s definitely a casual player rewarding type mode.

I probably won’t use them at all.

Prepare to lose a lot then.

What else is new? The amount of cheaters in game is crazy.

It’s really not.
Skill issue.

Well you can have your opinion and I can have mine. Worse thing they did was going F2C.

Saying there are crazy amounts of cheaters is not an opinion.
The only thing crazy is the number of cheating allegations about non-cheaters.

some perks are just things that could be implemented better as a rework, give more abilities to old characters and reduce power creep, for me perks are a glorified rework, some options are clearly better than others making just an ilussion of choicem however the main problem is that some perks are so busted this will be a mess, i can see youtubers complaining about what they prised one month ago

I disagree. This adds complexity to the game, which is what casual players hate. You have to learn 4 new abilities for 42 characters on top of knowing all the base abilities for said 42 characters. It’s wacky, but that doesn’t mean it’s casual.

This is my issue with it. It’s unbalanced. Not in the normal sense, but in the sense that some heroes got extraordinarily good perks while others like Reaper… get reload on Shadow Step.

Like how is that at all comparable to Ashe’s infinite ammo or Ana’s double nade/extended sleep.

Not a huge fan of perks coming to ranked either, if I wanted to play Mayhem in Arcade I would.

ill have to experience them by playing but i can see maybe it will make stomps more pronounced. also if they expand on perks a lot then it will remind me why i quit world of warcraft. i got tired of relearning classes every expansion or midseason and all the balance changes. eventually i got so confused.

i remember logging in on my rogue and am like what the hell do i do again and why did they change combat into outlaw lol… also i had like 15 characters with every class and spec so i got real confused. at one point in WoW i had every class max level but the next expansion i quit with most classes since SO CONFUSING. last time i played i only played one class and was still confused

if i log onto world of warcraft right now i would have to relearn everything again but if i play old classic wow it probably would all come back since the old way is the most memorable

still with overwatch its like how much can change with the game. i play widowmaker and she still is the same since launch, even with perks probably. most of her gameplay is just click heads

Agree on this.

That tracer perk is just a ridiculous net buff.

Perks as an idea are not bad. But they should be in the form of trade-offs and alternative playstyles.
I hope they fix them. Otherwise they’ll create additional problems on top of the existing ones.

If only there was a different mode of play where balance isn’t as important and it’s ok to have crazy abilities that are annoying for people to play against. Perhaps by making it so we aren’t against people, but instead against computer-controlled enemies? Players versus enemies, if you will

For real it genuinely pees me off, just a little, that they said the hero upgrades were more work than they bargained for, and a huge reason for breaking the promise of OW2… and now here they are, adding hero upgrades to the core game. Granted, it took three more years. Maybe in another three years we’ll actually get something done with the story and replayable, good PvE.

PS: I wonder what those devs think who got laid off when they were massively downsizing this part of the team. Or their colleagues who stayed, and got told to work on this stuff after all.

You aren’t alone. I’m sitting with the idea and trying to let it grow on me. But I don’t really like it either. It’s going to encourage 1-tricking more. It’ll discourage or penalize swapping, especially late game. That might actually be good. And it will make the game less balanced and more casual.

But I’m trying to think about the potential upsides too. At least it’s not Stadium. That thing is pure garbage.

Part of me thinks they don’t belong in ranked but I don’t care all that much

Casuals will never read what these are. Most people will see the UI pop up, get annoyed, click the first thing to get the pop up to go away and then continue playing. They will be 100% unaware of whats been changed for them, their team, or the enemy team.

This entire thing is going to be a full on disaster. PvE talents have no place in PVP gameplay.

its bananas to me that people say “oh, multiple modes is too hard to balance! cant have 5v5 and 6v6 together! cant have role queue or open queu balanced!”

meanwhile blizzard putting 4 extra perks for all 40ish heroes that will be a nightmare to balance. they havent even come out and people are already pointing out imbalances

Nah me neither, but I don’t bother to be vocal about it, the casuals that were the same players that wanted to enforce leaver penalties on qp and streamers that play rivals won on this one. Kinda sad to see the direction the game is taking, I had no issues with 5v5 whatsoever, most of the takes on 6 vs 6 were just nostalgia driven, had enough hours to know it. They should put this in Arcade or something, not in comp but I guess this is what it takes to make Samito, Flats and all the rats that were leaving the boat, come back.
