I am sick of losing at the hero select screen

In the goats mode, if your team picks 5 DPS and the enemy team runs anything even remotely close to a goats comp, you just lose. And why does my team always have a Doomfist on it? LIKE EVERY SINGLE MATCH!!!

It is driving me nuts. Like for real, can my team just once play triple support and at least 2 tanks please?

Haven’t tried it yet. Don’t know what goats means. I wasn’t around for OW1. But something I’ve noticed in open queue is the enemy likes to run triple tank. No fun as DPS.

I just want 222, man.

I picked Ball and was the only tank until 5s before the game started. Team didn’t fix it (I think one support and me on tank), and I swapped to Sombra just before the doors opened (cause it’s clear we didn’t want to bother with teamwork), then they had the gall to complain at me instead of swap to fix it. OFC it was the 3rd DPS McMeme who went Rein and proceeded to do nothing usefully tanky the rest of the game who was the loudest in chat.

I didn’t say anything to get me reported, but running through my head was Sam Jackson from Pulp Fiction.

But this is the exact reason RQ > OQ or limited queue. My PC is pretty fast so I could instalock a DPS I don’t want my teammates playing before swapping to tank last second, but I don’t understand why we need to play psycho minigames in the spawn just to get a team comp that makes a modicum of sense.

Sounds to me like you solo queued for GOATS mode and got the genuine solo queuing during GOATS experience… and are mad about it?

Look. This is a throwback mode. If they tried to bring back the GOATS meta and somehow didn’t manage to capture how unforgivably awful it was… then they didn’t bring back the GOATS meta.

Goats was a comp named after a Contenders team named Goats (Greatest of All Time). IT was triple tank / triple support. Brig, Moira, Lucio, D.Va, Zarya, Rein. Sometimes you’d sub one of the tanks for a tanky DPS like Mei or Reaper.

It was the meta that caused the dev team to implement role queue because after many rounds of nerfs they never got rid of it. It was just not going anywhere.

So, if your team in the Classic mode runs anything like Goats and the other team doesn’t, well you win. And the opposite is true. You see 3 supports on the other team even if they aren’t the traditional Goats supports and you have 1, well you are going to be in for a bad time.

Amen! Not only am I having this problem in the Goats mode, but also the Totally Normalwatch mode. And frankly anytime I open queue of any kind.

Role queue is superior to any open queue modes for sure. But for the goats mode, they should have just disabled the DPS category so we could actually play Goats. Like isn’t that the point? And in the moth meta one, Mercy should have literally been a mandatory pick.

I barely even bother playing GOATS because Doom is a monster, Ball is kinda scuffed, and Mercy movement is so sad. Nobody wants me playing Zarya every game, I’m sure.

On Normalwatch I’d just go Ball or Sombra and zoom around making fools suffer until we win (or my team does nothing with the value I’m providing stalling the cart for 17 years and we somehow lose).

I just don’t get it. Like it’s simply a reward for having a fast PC. Like, I’d generally prefer to tank so long as we have an actual team comp but I feel like I need to steal DPS just so a potato doesn’t throw on Widow all game. A QP MM would be nice, as well.

The problem with OQ is that I pick first on DPS and it doesn’t matter because the next 3 people also pick DPS and then they expect me to swap even though I picked first.

DPS is my least favorite role, but like you I’ve started just picking it first to try and get someone else to do something else. But it still doesn’t work.

Doom isn’t fun. He’s a frustrating hero that I am starting to wish was never added.

I’ve learned since OW1: screw those people. I’m at the point where even if they do swap to something that makes sense I’m not going out of my way to help them, because they already showed me who they are when given the chance at the start. I’ll happily play Sombra, do what I want, and if we win or lose we win or lose. Or I’ll practice a DPS I’m not good at. If I didn’t leave in spawn I’ve mentally given up on that match because it’s not worth caring about it.

Same. Might I suggest: go Moira and never use left click or heal Orb :joy:

Then if one of the DPS says something about it I’d say: you went DPS and so did I, if you wanted a support you could’ve picked one.

I wish they’d force people to pick 3 tanks and 3 supports or at least make it 1 dps max.

I unlocked the goats title, and in 0% of the games that I played did I ever actually get to play goats.

Usually, it was 1 tank, 3 dps, and 2 supports. Sometimes, it would be even worse, like 1/4/1. Best case scenario was 2/2/2.

Starting to think all these DPS players read GOATs and thought, yes! Guaranteed tanks and supports :sparkles: for me :sparkles:!

But they just ruin the mode. Funny but true comments about the true nostalgic GOATs experience aside, DPS heroes should’ve been disabled.

I’m so sorry to hear that that’s been your experience. I haven’t played a lot of GOATs Classic since it returned but the few games I did play it was always the expected meta or at minimum 2 tanks, 3 supports. Hope you can get some games soon where you get a better composition. :<

Yea, if the defending team goes with a goats comp, they can easily run out the clock, even if the attacking team goes goats also.

Blizz should at least change some timing rules or make it only with Push maps. But like every other mode Blizz puts in, they miss one small detail that makes it an annoying mode.

I find it a little strange that everyone is so upset that a meta that was almost exclusively played in the highest ranks back in the day is not being played by everyone. Nevermind the fact that we who played in those ranks at the time mostly detested it.

Furthermore, why wouldn’t people play DPS? The role was stronger and more enjoyable (other than when against good GOATS) than it is now.

It depends on what you want out of the mode. If you just want to go back to a prior balance patch in OW1, then mission accomplished. If you actually want to play the meta that’s being highlighted, well that was not accomplished in my playtime of several dozen games.

If you want to know why, ask the devs why Doom has to be a tank normally after the years and years of him being DPS. This is the only way people who enjoy DPS Doom can go back to what they love, crave, and have missed - all thanks to the developers.

I’ll be blunt, this is making me wish they would just delete him entirely. DPS Doom is 1000x more frustrating than tank Doom and tank Doom is bad enough. I’m literally at the point where I think Doomfist existing at all was a mistake.

Part of the reason I stopped playing it as soon as I got the goat title. Only had goats on my team twice, and never enemy team. Saw the rare 3/3 without the right heroes, but that was about it. Seeing 3 dps picked before any tanks and heals was pretty lame for the goats patch. But I guess some ppl just having fun with ow1 patch as dps.
