Its not only unfun, its unskilled. Counterpick all game and try to win is no skill, no fun and certainly not what ow was when it launched. Ow2 is an inferior game and tank issue is only one -but big- of its flaws.
edit after 7/9 patch: Garbage patch for a garbage game. Tanks being unkillable wont make it better. How can you NOT see the actual problem?
Just imagine if they locked the ability to swap.
Then you would have a game of rock paper scissors that is decided before the match starts.
It has happen for a long time now with meta’s. So the game would play the same just happens earlier.
In otherwords, 5v5 is bad.
Had a game yesterday I started on ball. Won the first fight, immediately they swap to Hog Sombra Cass Brig Ana. Went sigma, they swapped to Echo Mei. It’s an endless dance and it’s so frustrating to play against.
No no, we just need to remove one of the fundamental game aspects and it’ll work. For sure this time.

Most metas when the game is unbalanced are rock-paper-scissors-gun where everyone realizes gun just wins so everyone goes gun. Unfortunately now the game is sadly more balanced so the actual matchups matter more making tank a counterswap simulator. We have seen multiple “normal” balance situations in OW where 1 tank is just better than all the others and we have also seen counterswap simulator when that is not the case.
I’m really in the same boat here. The only time I play tank in OW2 is in Open Queue, because that’s literally the only time I can have fun with them.
Just imagine locking D.va and finding out your entire enemy team is full of D.va counters.
This is the same community that begged for the removal of a game mode, and then proceeded to hate each and every game mode released afterward.
You know, I remember hearing a game developer say “Players think they know what they want, but they don’t”, and I thought it was outlandish. But now I think that opinion makes more sense. Players on this forum at least begged for things, got what they wanted, and complained afterwards.

Same. 5v5 is just counterswapwatch. By far the worst the game has ever felt.
if 5v5 goes away what even is the purpose of overwatch 2 being overwatch 2. like blizzard blatantly didnt give us anything that they promised all those years ago but we all just seem fine with it. this is crazy.
Unskilled huh? That’s what 6v6 role queue tanking was because you have the other guy there to carry your mistakes
Who cares. We just want to have fun again bring back 6v6.
It won’t be fun because queue times shoot up to an hour
I mean, maybe the couple of people playing tank that like being carried by their other tank because they’re bad at the role will have fun, but everybody else gets to suffer
Queue times are currently on par with what they were back when this game was double shield abandonware.
