After 200+ games and 100+ wins, prioritizing winning objectives, enabling and supporting my fellow teammates over my own stats, still putting up top numbers every game and being called god mercy and healer diff every match.
I am still bronze 5.

Just to be clear you’re being called a god mercy by bronze 5 players.
Id ask a top 500 streamer to analyse your gameplay & give you some pointers.
Getting suggestions from bronze playing and actually listening to them is the blind leading the blind.
I have watched many videos and streams of top players. I am not new to this game. I am no top 500 but I ensure you I am not bronze 5 either. Maybe ranking system isn’t affecting your account but it is affecting enough people. Stop assuming everyone in bronze 5 is bad and need to get good.
Yeah. I feel you. I’ve had plenty of games where I just get matched with horrible dps… like play pharah into 3 hitscans and a DVA and keeps dying…

If the answer is… GG move on… then no. We need a better system where individual performance matters more than just win/loss.
I’m completely with you. I honestly think the ranking system is busted if you focus on support, heals, assists, and mitigation or rezzes. I’m with you - I’m not top 500 but I’m also not bronze 5. I can usually win 7 matches within 10 games, my heals are almost always the top of the supports, my assists are usually equal to dps kills, my deaths are low. Bronze 5 every time, also after about 150 matches. Not one move.
So I don’t think I should be diamond, but if I’m still bronze 5 something is busted or the game needs to expose what the main gap is. I’d LOVE feedback that clarifies something like “It’s kills and damage, even for support.”
Generally player feedback is useless - get good, heal more, damage more, win more. None of that makes sense. My last two sets of matches I started grabbing screen caps of the stats cards just to prove to myself that I’m not a whiner.
I really don’t think it’s win/loss - both because I can often win 7 out of 10, and because plenty of folks promote while LOSING more than half their matches. Then you read of others going from bronze 5 to silver 2 to gold 4 back to silver 2… I can’t believe that I’m so firmly at the very bottom of the barrel to never even get out of bronze 5 based on the above.
Anyway, uninstalled today - I like playing support (even in OW1 where I was silver/gold) but not gonna play another 100 matches at bronze 5 here.

I honestly wouldn’t care about ranks if there is leaving penalty for QP. It’s literally unplayable with people going in and out of QP.

To get out of bronze 5 you need to have 1100 and greater SR.
Sob you went up 80, 10x which is 100 games for 800sr. If you’re winning which is all that matters at the end of the day, you will get out of bronze soon.
To make it clear, I was from OW 1 but I was soft reset down to bronze 5. After rolling 7 games i ranked up to silver 2. That means the match maker understood I shouldnt be playing with people down in bronze ruining their games. If youre winning as well as you say you’ll be out in no time.
I actually went up to bronze 4 twice. One with the Oct 13 patch, once a day later. But since then it has been bronze 5 no matter the stats, the performance, or the win rate.
Yet I see streamers that are master, grand master, top 500, losing more than winning, screwing around, emoting, not trying at all, somehow still ranks up.
This system make 0 sense.

I do play other supports and do comparable dps vs other support. I just like mercy more cause I enjoy being proactive with the non stop GA.
The only easy way to ‘cheat’ the matchmaking algorithm is to find a group to play with. Try to get at least 3 players who all play a different role. That way you have the most important roles filled for team synergy. If you don’t have people to play competitive with try to invite people who seem to do good in-game and play with them.
Solo ranking from low ranks with support is really difficult and is too depended on the luck of the draw in terms of teammates

bumped up twice today too. bronze 5 to 1 and now silver 3 I think. Seems to jump 4 levels while before the patch I’d never rank up no matter the wins. Think mercy is one of the harder ones to rank up with, but that depends on your play style too and map. Usually make a bigger difference with moira, lucio, zen, brig, and kirko depending on the situation though I’m newish and terrible with half of those. If your tank over extends, I usually end up switching to a distance healer or something up close like brig or lucio since they can create some space.

What kind of stats are you putting up? I got put in bronze too and got around 13-14k heals per 10 and 1-2 deaths. It’s harder to tell how you’re performing in OW2 as the percentage based stats (team damage taken etc) have been removed or hidden. Probably because as you say, they’re used to rank up instead of win rate.

Stop playing Mercy - I know you like the hero, but it’s a hero designed to get the best out of your teammates, to enable them - You’re in bronze. Quick tip, don’t bother trying to enable bad players, it won’t work and you’ll just be frustrated. A bad dps player with a pocket, is still a bad dps player. You’re going to need to take the game into your own hands to climb, make plays, you can’t rely on people, especially at that rank, once you start moving up and you’re seeing better players, by all means, focus more on enabling those good players, but in the meantime, you can’t expect to just left click someone and that be all you need to do to climb/win games.
So far the ranking system makes zero sense… I have seen GM 1s derank without any losses, and 7 wins after their last ranking. The ranking system is poorly made, it is badly done, Aaron Keller is lost. The Golden Age of Overwatch lasted until forced 2-2-2 (Why, because the meta was naturally drifting away from goats anyways, even in OWL), and now with one less tank, it’s near impossible to have any enjoyment…
Ranks were also dropped hard initially, and maybe people struggle to get out due to the fact their team mates aren’t performing like they do.
