I actually dont like the 76 reveal after all

thought alot about it, now i think that tracer’s reveal was fine, it blended with her persona, but with 76 it just made him go from generic soldier to gay soldier
doesnt feel like natural on that character and i dont like that, not that it matters to anyone, but it will be a little itch for me when i pick him up, think that he was made into a look we have a gay hero
it would have been lucio it would have been pretty fine tbh
anyway

I look at it as if I can remove something about that character and the story still makes sense, it wasn’t needed. But what do I know, I just play the game and click heads.

Being gay isn’t inherently linked to a personality type. Anyone could be gay or straight.

It was more of a shock to me when I discovered Reaper used to be Gabriel Reyes, because their personalities don’t seem the same at all. But slowly you start to fit that into the picture you have of the character, and it starts to make sense.

the fact that 76 has no real persona makes the gayness come out as the persona

76 is one character we actually have a lot of background about: He was strike commander of old Overwatch, a stressful position that constantly put him at odds with Reyes. After the explosion at the Swiss HQ, he decided to let Morrisson stay gone, but he couldn’t sit back and let bad things happen, so he became Soldier:76 to right the wrongs he had committed, showing he’s a good person with a hero complex who can’t let go of the past. Simply add to this the fact that he was in love with someone named Vincent when he was young, but they both moved on. Not a big addition in the grand scheme of things.

They could have left that part out and nothing would have changed about his character, what he’s done, and what he’s doing.

How did that change him from generic soldier to gay soldier? Literally nothing else about him has changed, we just have insight into what his love life looked like and how he got to where he was. You could literally replace Vincent with a woman, and nothing would have changed.

You may have a separate issue you may need to address…

Soldier 76’s persona is that he’s “a man on a mission,” and that mission always come first. He doesn’t sleep well, he doesn’t eat right, and he can’t maintain a healthy romantic relationship. He had a lover but he drove him away with his “duty above all else,” attitude.

I think that’s pretty in keeping with what we have seen thus far. He wants to kill the bad guys at all costs, even at the cost of his own life.

He isn’t some selfless perfect guy. He is an obsessive who is gonna get himself killed. In a way, he already has.

he was he is that’s not a persona
he’s a gun nut soldier who’s main persona now is gay soldier

they did not and now he’s queer:76

gun nut veteran soldier
now he’s gun nut veteran GAY soldier

There are a lot of gun nut veteran soldiers that are not as obsessive as Soldier 76. Even Ana and Reaper, who also cared about duty to a fairly extreme degree, still managed to eat and sleep like human beings and have families.

He’s not just a faceless Soldier who only cares about getting the job done as an matter of necessity to keeping his cover, he was like that even before the explosion. This is why his love life was a total disaster. It isn’t that he doesn’t care about his friends and family, but rather because he cares so deeply for them that he can’t rest until the world is safe for them.

In a way, Morrison was the cover, Soldier 76 is the real man.

He’s not a gun nut. Hell, he’s not even a soldier anymore. He’s a vigilante who faked his death.

It feels like you are ignoring a lot of other aspects of his character to make a point.

im a QP scrub i’ll admit. but it’s crazy how that announcement made soldier rare in any of my recent games.

it’s like straight people stay away from him now i swear!

wasn’t it better when it was all up in the air and everyone could play him without feeling like they’re waving a flag?

The more I think about this the more I realize that Soldier 76 is essentially Batman without the toys or money.

People play Tracer just fine after her reveal, and he was already not getting used much before the reveal.

I don’t think most people give any care about the lore, and just want to play the game.

So, you’re telling us that you’ve got your preconceived notion of what a gay man should be and soldier doesn’t match? That’s on you, bud

i love the smell of pulse ammo in the morning gun nut stuff (i’m a gun nut myself)

got what i wanted:
76: Currently the target of an international manhunt, the vigilante known as Soldier: 76 wages a personal war to expose the truth behind Overwatch’s collapse.

pharah: With a strong sense of justice, Fareeha Amari’s commitment to duty runs in her blood. She comes from a long line of highly decorated soldiers and burns with the desire to serve with honor. A serious but altruistic individual, Pharah seeks to make the world a better place, and bring order out of chaos. She loves the feeling of entering the unknown, and has a udjat tatoo, bearing the Eye of Horus. Every action she undertakes comes from “a deep place” within her spirit.
pharah has a lot more of a personnality then 76
she has a lot to her persona when 76 only has gayness now and it doesnt blend, it comes out.

Did you know? Any one of any personality can in fact be gay and people have long since been homophobic garbage on in game chat
