I’m sorry but is it just me that feels like she’s actually server admin this patch ? She just runs around deleting everything ? Maybe I just need to get used to playing against her since she’s picked so much/playing around her perks or whatever but I s2g she hasn’t felt this oppressive since ow2 release
Every time the enemy tank is even slightly inconvenienced, they just go Zarya and start fisting the entire lobby.
And I wouldn’t even mind if she was a rare occurrence but I feel like she’s picked or swapped onto in 70% of my games and im so over it
Damage was definitely not her weakpoint, and now she has a deadly grav and a broken piercing beam. The alternative is an even better bubble or a crazy mobility.
Look, I love the idea that Zarya is becoming fun, and I don’t want to ask for nerfs or a removal of those perks.
I just hate the fact that other heroes got some of the worst and most boring perks imaginable.
Double standards are bad.
Either unleash every hero, or choose a more balanced approach for everyone.
This version of perks just confirmed that the devs are not methodical in their balancing and designing.
Yeah she was pretty gross back then because her bubble duration was longer. Or it might have been the cooldown I can’t remember. Something involving her bubbles was stronger back then.
Also this was before healing reduction on dps so it was really easy to keep her alive at high charge
She’s the only tank that doesn’t have to respect Ana, the highest pick rate hero for all of overwatch 2 that just recently got giga buffed with the best perks in the game.
yup, just stands there and melts everyone while taking no damage and if you break the bubble she melts you faster, but even if you don’t, along flies a Mercy out of nowhere, restores her to full health, and your whole team is melted before she’s even half health. She’s been pretty consistently strong throughout OW2 but now she is just stronger than everyone else with very little drawbacks (her beam range is still longer than a lot of mid range characters, does higher damage faster and is so broad it’s difficult to miss) She has no weaknesses, cleanse. Just absurd. Absolutely no fun to play against.
Zarya perks are pretty mediocre. Some extra damage on an ult that doesn’t build that fast. Piercing beam which is very situational. 15% heal or whatever for bubble and a higher jump? Nothing stands out there - either ult (rare use), map dependent or situational. Nothing which gives her a constant boost or even very frequent use.
I dislike playing against Zarya because beams are so much easier to track with and if you are in range of that beam you’re not getting away - same reason I can’t stand symm (although her spam turrets are annoying too).
I prefer tanks to do lower consistent damage (sigma orbs, hog scrap with massive spread, monkey beam, etc.) with an optional burst if you enter their personal space or are pulled into it (hog combo, sigma rock+orbs, hazard slash, etc.).
Zarya doing a consistent 190 damage when fully charged on an easy to track with beam feels like it’s too much. However, the fact it’s your own team that fully charged the beam kind of means that she deserves the damage as you could just not shoot the bubbles, and she is pretty useless if nobody shoots the bubbles.
“Some”?
It’s a flat 30% damage based on the max HP.
It basically works like Sigma flux damage, but without the predictability of flux.
It’s a massive buff that makes grav a guaranteed fight winner.
It’s not situational. Zarya can very often beam multiple enemies, and we’re talking about a beam that deals up to 190 damage.
Even a coincidence can win a fight at these numbers.
Not to mention that it works well in combination with her ultimate.
It’s a 15% speed boost and it starts the healing passive immediately.
If you bubble any ulting ally, you pretty much enabled them to kill everyone.
The other important use case is giving a struggling ally a much needed passive healing, which makes the saving aspect of bubble even better.
A jump that gives a hero with almost no mobility the ability to reach high grounds and to jump over obstacles quickly. Basically removing one of her biggest weaknesses.
“Some” extra damage on her ult ? It goes from dealing 25 damage to squishes (5 impact plus 5/s over 4s) to 100 damage (30% of max HP + the base damage) ? That’s literally quadruple the damage it would normally deal. Tanks at 600 health take 205 damage instead of 25, that’s almost a 900% damage increase against beefiest tanks.
No this is literally just not true. Bad Zarya players that don’t maintain charge are the ones that say this is a slow building ult. not to mention, her MINOR perk is the one that lets her grav do BS damage. If you pick piercing beam you charge it even faster so even if it was a slow build ult (which it isn’t) you have something to alleviate that.
I play Zarya and I’ve not really noticed her feeling that much stronger. She is still strong against teams that shoot her bubbles and weak against those that instantly stop when she bubbles.
She is a strong tank. I just haven’t really seen that the perks made that much of a difference overall. I have a very positive win-rate on her so, although I might be bad, I’m good compared to my peers in my rank.
Thing is it doesn’t matter which tanks are the strongest. Either way they’ll feel awful to play against because every interaction is just being stat checked so it feels unfair.
As a level 50+ Zarya, I can defenitely tell the perks make the difference, especially the beam piercing. She indeed feels more powerful now. They did with her same thing they did with Bastion and Torb - gave her strong perks to increase her pickrate. You’re not gonna convince me that’s not the case when Rein these laughable perks that barely do anything for him.
Well, I’m not gonna stay Rein if enemy has D.Va, Bastion and Pharah. But then I’m also likely to have someone complain I “counterwatch” or something.
Just like I have a Bastion in 70% of my Rein games (even if I’m not the main issue for enemy team).
Yeah that’s completely fair. I never blame the player for swapping onto meta/counterswapping. I always blame the devs for the game design that allows for such awful counter matchups.
