I want to hear from the executives at Blizzard as to why they launched OW2 even though, as they stated this past week, they knew a year and a half ago that PvE wasn’t going to work. Why did one part of Team 4 have to constantly sacrifice what they were working on to help the other half? Why not hire more developers for each side? Instead of overloading an already understaffed team? If you have a good concept, good characters, a good story, and so much more, why not invest in that and help it thrive? You already turned your game into a cash cow; you might as well invest some of your billions back into it. I refuse to blame the developers, who do their best with the time and resources they have. I want answers from the suits—the executives.

Tbh, I think one of the developers could’ve leaked that the work on pve has stopped a long time ago. I surely wouldn’t have given Blizzard as much money, thinking Im supporting the PVE gamemode, if i knew beforehand. ofc i know this was unlikely to happen cause it would put the whistleblower into danger, but a heads-up still would’ve been nice.
Even so, I do agree that the developers aren’t the blame and they shouldn’t be the scapegoats of all of this mess. The higher-ups basically forced them to give up on something they’ve been working on for years. It must’ve been painful that all their work was basically turned into nothing, simply because the big corps didn’t think it was profitable enough. It’s a tough situation to be in for sure.

Developers aren’t completely blameless. At some point you take a stand, and then move on to a company that pays more and wants your talent. None of the developers showed or show they have a spine.

I agree but I would never expect a leak or shame devs for not leaking. If I have a job, my job is to do my job.

That’s fair, I think a warning could’ve been done anon, but I did mention that it wasn’t really an expectation, but rather, it would’ve been just something nice to have.
I 100% agree and understand where youre coming from, but it would’ve still been nice if someone in the dev team took a stand and leaked anonymously.

I tried to take this opinion as well. It boils down to if you want talented developers in game development at all. Since there are probably better companies to work for. You also need to consider the value of senior talent and the ramifications of when an employee is doing something only they can do quits. To reiterate, there are ramifications when a developer quits either a project, the company, or even game development in general. Taking their talent elsewhere and maybe even outside of gaming entirely.
I personally like playing fun games. Even if I don’t like Blizzard as a company I can’t blame them for working on any game or at any game company if I want good games regardless of who publishes them.

Yeah they are partly to blame.
It’s them that enables these people. But to be fair yes many of them were used and abused. The culture died internally you can tell. It’s so obvious.
Leaving Blizzard over and over because Actiblizz is a horrible company.

Not even the bare minimum effort was given for a “sequel”.
Would you want to work under Bobby Kotick? The man was constantly reassigning the devs on ‘projects’ that’d get cancelled or changed within months.
