How you not getting triggered in this game?

Im playing this game since release, i thought i saw everything…

But this game is full of things that tilts the competitive mind. Yes, if you absolutly dont care about the game, you wont be triggered, but if you play to win you will be annyoed af

Low effort kills,
Killed by a random spam
unbalanced MM
trash teamcomps
players who dont play to win
constant AD crouch spam

this game wants to be sold, wants a huge audience, so they have to make this as casual as possible. Look at mercy, symmetra etc… bridgette…

WOW huge. nice design

Not getting triggered because in the words of Zarya “It’s only a game why you have to be mad?”

Also, I have so much more going on in my life I don’t have to get validation from how well my 1s and 0s perform against some other person’s 1s and 0s.

So which one of these makes Overwatch unique? Because there are more than enough of games which have one or more of these and little fewer which have all of them.

Also, it is more than likely that you get annoyed at any game. This game is also played and has pretty big audience. So Blizzard has successfully made a game that sells well and is well and alive even after 2 years.

for me CS 1.6 represents the true FPS experience. but its jsut old, thats why im not playing it anymore.

so yeah, 1.6 was the most amazing FPS in my eyes, and it surely didnt have this. maybe you can argue with the crouch spam, maybe you remember tixo

I mostly play Quick Play on console and I ALWAYS try to win. There are games that I get triggered and I usually finish the game quietly and log out. Because there is always something I could be doing like working on my editing skillset, reading finance books and blogs, cleaning up, paying my wife some attention or going somewhere fun. The point is to know that this is literally nothing more than a hobby and a small part of most people’s lives.

While the game incorporates features such as competition, to which rank is involved and gives you a feeling of “place” and of “how good one is through said placement” it automatically makes a person think, feel and have the drive of that of a real competition and not of that of a mere game anymore, as well as not to mention the ability to those whose drive is to possibly make it to the OWL one day (PC) by being in the Top 500, thus intoxicates the game with anger and toxicity.

The adrenaline rush we as humans get is seemingly automatically associated with our determination and drive to win, making us feel happy when we win and angry/sad when we lose since games show us “Winners” and “Losers” hence the whole point of “Comp” being called Competitive.

However at the same time, the game is still a game regardless and holds no value whatsoever other than to entertain you and to have fun, and long as you see that it is merely a game. If you let go of any feelings or connections of winning and simply view it as fun time with other people, where there are no winners or losers, you bring yourself more peace and calm. Casual play and Arcade mode are great for these ideal types, however, Comp can take some time depending. Listen to music while you play, drink herbal tea before or after playing to relax yourself (caffeine just riles you up), exercise by working out anger or stress. Being calm is a very important part of playing as health is involved where there are strong emotions.

With anger comes high blood pressure and other possible health complications. If you feel Comp is not for you, then it isn’t friend. The game has issues, but the team is working to try to fix them. Nothing is set in stone and sometimes, you have to take what is given to you. Not everything in life is “perfect”. You can play Casual (QP) and just as much enjoy it. Rank means nothing. It doesn’t define you as a player. You do.

I’m not getting triggered because its a really fun game and I really enjoy this game. Its easy to pickup but difficult to master, that’s the mark of a great game.

I didn’t play CS 1.6 too much, but I did play more than enough of CSS. I’d say that getting shot through a wall because someone decided to buy m249 or p90 was pretty much dying to low effort kills or getting killed by a random grenade because 10 people threw nades in your general direction when you were walking out of spawn. Let’s not forget the wonderful flashbang spam in de_dust2 where everyone throws nades from and to long.

CS was and is a great fps game, I will completely agree to that. But like every game, it had things that some people just hated. That’s why there were servers where flashbangs couldn’t be bought, or awp/autosniper was restricted to one per team.

There is also a great difference between OW and CS. Other game has abilities and ultimates which can completely change which side wins. Other game, tactics and mainly very good aim decided which side won.

In CS, people didn’t respawn until round was over or it was deathmatch. Aim was most critical part and headshot almost always leads to instant kill. Unless it was an awp and it killed always unless it hit leg. You actually had to care about your ammo and if you played CS 1.6, you always had to buy the magazines/clips for your gun if you wanted to shoot more than what you already had in clip/mag. CS also didn’t have any sustain.

In Overwatch you have heroes such as reinhardt who people would consider “brain-dead”. Thing about these “brain-dead” heroes is that they don’t need to aim much, but they don’t benefit from critical hits. The “brain-dead” heroes in Overwatch have the set time-to-kill which doesn’t usually change, but with heroes such as widow for example, TTK can drastically change from instant to forever.

For true FPS experience, even for me CS is better candidate than the game called Overwatch with abilities and other stuff like that. But I like Overwatch way more due to versatility it has. Overwatch would be much more boring for me if it was just about aim like lots of people want it to be.

Don’t like “brain-dead” heroes? (This isn’t directed at you, just general now)
Aim is all that matters?
If that’s the case… Why do you play Overwatch, a game which doesn’t care about your ability to aim? Even in CS just aim wasn’t enough. Aim was the greatest part in the game, but even in CS you couldn’t get to the top with aim alone. Now Overwatch cares about the aim even less, so the aspects that you could mostly ignore in CS are more important.

You may ask, what are these aspects? Strategy, tactics, understanding of game, its players, communication and most of all teamwork. If you have played a game like Red Orchestra(2)/Rising Storm, you may understand that it doesn’t matter how well you can aim, because you cannot do anything alone. In Red Orchestra or Rising storm, team with someone who communicates the plans and strategies/tactics wins. But that also requires that people actual act on those plans.

These casual/“brain dead” heroes in Overwatch usually tend to be the ones who take on the role(s) of shot-caller, ult-tracker and target-caller to compensate their hero’s lack of ability. People who play heroes which require a lot of aim (DPS) don’t usually do any of these.
Maybe DPS acts as a scout, because dps characters usually have greater mobility and tell rest of the team what enemy team is doing so that the shot-caller makes plan of attack or defense with the help of ult-tracker, who has tried to track ultimates of enemy team.
When plan is being executed, target-caller who is usually tank says who to focus. If let’s say, Moira uses fade, target-caller calls to attack Moira because she doesn’t have a way to escape anymore.

Overwatch has way more to it than just being able to aim or play casual/“brain dead” heroes. Due to the abilities and different heroes, the importance of aim is smaller and the importance planning and such is greater compared to a game like CS. I do not mean that aim isn’t very important, because the ability to kill someone is very important in Overwatch. The method of killing someone is a different thing though.

Anyway, I meant to give you advice at some point and not write an essay. My advice for you to avoid tilting is taking a break, finding another game, maybe something chill like mount&blade, or something like that. After your break you can come back to overwatch feeling a bit more refreshed. You could also look for PUGs where you can play Overwatch with people of varying skill ratings and actually play the game with proper team and have fun.

There is no point in forcing yourself to play a game. Find an alternative for a while and then come back. NEVER force yourself to play a game you don’t enjoy playing. If you want to play comp, remember to have fun. Losing sucks, but honestly, it is just a game. You lose some virtual ego and that’s it. Don’t take it too seriously.

The bits in the middle about the nature of OW were brilliant and well articulated. OW does not care as much about aim but has a hard-on for teamwork and strategy.

(not saying the CS parts were not brilliant but I never played it)

Asking how am I not triggered is actually one of my triggers

  1. All those triggering things you mentioned work in my favor half the time.
  2. I guess I’ve just gotten used to it and have my expectations set accordingly

“trigegred” lol
Ah, but yeah, when you play anchor tanks or off-tanks almost exclusively, you learn to be extremely patient with people that have no idea the payload and their own team exist.
