im a 35 years old and software developer. but for my is very hard to understand why on one competitive game as overwatch, the team balance allow the lower skills tank bein meta for like 6 months… WTF…
can ow be a game about skills and effort to get value?
Hasn’t been 6 months and the reason they shake up the meta is because long term players like learning a new meta as it more fun than trying to get 1% better over a few months.
This common for blizzard games as they don’t aim for perfect balance but rather have a constantly shifting meta.
Because instead of nerfing all the tanks they keep listening to the whiners on this forum and buffing them. This is why we have current Doom destroying the game.
And yet this is what they constantly do, the only time in my opinion it’s bad is when a hero is a must pick in 80% of games or a meta has gone on for too long.
In this case, i think it’s been fine for Orisa to be good for a while. she’s getting nerfed tomorrow so it’s time for a new meta (i hope).
I get you don’t like low skill ceiling heroes being meta… But that’s not a design philosophy the ow team has ever had but at least you show experience in software development doesn’t equate to understand overwatch game balance.
Nevermind the fact that there are high ranking people in the game who say that other tanks should be more like Orisa… but regardless of that, I’m not seeing any other tank that takes more skill to play than Orisa. You hit your buttons when you need to do and take away cooldowns or damage for your team. Every tank is practically the same level of skill to play.
I mean when it comes down to skill it will depend on the players you play against.
I would guess the issue with Orisa is it’s easier to get impact making it near impossible for you to reach the same level of impact on other tanks forcing you to play Orisa. ( this is a reason most high level players mostly play 2 heroes, one meta hero and there main)
Like i said, as long as it’s not forever it’s fine for heroes to be strong for a while.
Fighting Orisa involves waiting out her fortify and not dumping all of your cooldowns into her fortify, with the expectation that you’re going to kill her through the damage reduction (and 2 supports). It would be no different than waiting out a Zarya bubble
Orisa has been meta for 6 months because there’s a major problem with the tank role the devs still have not addressed.
As a ball main, I’d love to play ball, but if I do, I’m immediately met with Brig, Ana, Sombra, Cass, Hog. So I just switch to Orisa…and remain on Orisa for the rest of the game, because you can’t hard counter Orisa like that and I know if I play any other tank, I will immediately be met with 5 hard counters.
On some way is true. Anyway imaginate if orisa dont exists, then you should swap ball to another skilled hero. Then you still can continue playing a decent gameplay…
On my opinion, npc heros and hardcounters should not exists on ow
Why is everyone running Orisa mirrors? It’s because the hero has the best survivability and the fewest counter picks. That points out a problem with the tank role as a whole that needs solved. But I do agree that easier heroes should never be better.
There is a difference as the heroes have different kits overall.
That said, even of there wasn’t this has no relevance to my point that the skill needed depends on the people you play against not the skill of the hero.
Most of what you claim here can be debunkes by looking at leaderboards so I’m guessing your talking more about how you feel than how it is.
Like for example, you see the dps passive as having no effect because you feel the meta has changed but it has changed how dps is played as there is now a debuff you need to think about applying.
So if you’re having to change you play style because of a change its objectively not the same and not stagnate.
