Let’s be honest, people who actually like snipers in their current state are the vocal minority who play snipers. No one likes an undodgable instakill at any range, they prefer instakills that are more likely to hit but allow some kind of action to be taken to not die instead of just hoping the instakill attack misses.
Since the big peeve everyone has with snipers is the whole “instantly dying” part, the way I’d rework snipers is just to completely remove headshots from the game. There’s really no reason Overwatch needs headshots, and heroes that can’t headshot naturally have a lower skill ceiling which makes them unviable in high level play which is why they’re rare in high level play.
The snipers in Overwatch wouldn’t need a bodyshot damage buff to compensate for losing headshots. They’d still have an extremely high damage potential with unlimited range, 120/125 is a lot of damage when most heroes have 200 health. But they would need buffs to their ability to support their team: Widowmaker would need a stronger SMG for if she wants to do more consistent mid-range damage, Hanzo would need better sonic arrows, Ashe actually needs nothing as she could really use a straight nerf in her current state.
Widow needs to be a projectile sniper, and the charge time needs to be increased. Her spider mine should be buffed to 150% damage and a 30% slow.
Hanzo needs reverse falloff on storm arrows or not being able to headshot with them. 1 sec lower cooldown on lunge and sonic to compensate.
Sure no one likes it. But that’s how snipers work in like every FPS so… I don’t see what the issue is here or why people think Overwatch Snipers should work any differently?
Check how snipers work in Fortnite. You actually need to lead your shot, also you either get a semi-auto sniper that can spam but in no way can oneshot, or a bolt action that you need to hit your shot or you’re stuck with reloading for a good 2 seconds making you VERY vulnerable.
That’s how snipers should work in any competitive game. Hitscan scoped oneshots are not only unfun to play against but is also very easy to cheat with.
The double-sniper meta started because supports are so good that they literally can out-heal any damage save for damage-boosted burst damage. And now, not even that is good as supports are literally insanely good.
The sniper meta is a symptom of supports being too good in this game.
Read above. You got that completely wrong. We had sniper meta before because burst damage was the only thing able to get kills, that’s how good healing was. Chip damage is useless and just feeds support’s ults.
Now supports are so good no DPS is even played anymore.
That applies to every single hero except they can’t do 400 DPS from half map.
That’s like buffing Ana’s heal to 150 because the average Ana only has 50% accuracy.

And cheaters need to be banned, not the hero they use nerfed to the ground, that only hurts legit players.
You have to really question the legitimacy of these players who want to nerf snipers. In a game like Overwatch where you have barriers, shields, ressurection, prevention of death etc. There are thousands of ways to deal with snipers.
What current state? Hanzo? Sure, but his issue is his ability to spam, not to one-shot. Widow? She barely changed since launch (her bodyshot damage got even reduced from 150 to 120)
Ask yourself what actually changed that make snipers so annoying.
