Initial heroes:
- Tank: Orisa, Reinhardt, Winston, Zarya
- Support: Lucio, Mercy, Moira
- Damage: Pharah, Reaper, Soldier: 76, Torbjorn, Tracer, Widowmaker
Right now new players unlock heroes in the order below, however I don’t think they match the skill floor to learn about them. E.g:
- Echo is the “ultimate hero” because she can copy all the others , but frankly… you can barely use her duplicate to the optimal way. I don’t agree with her being the last one just because of 11s ult.
- Zarya in the other hand is the hero with the need of knowing all others in order use the bubbles.
- In my opinion heroes like Zarya and Genji should be on the end along Hammond and Doomfist ( and unlike Baptiste and Mei).
- Echo should be mid-tier.

Personally it does not really matter and maybe even diminishes the experience for new players.
- Your hero choice for new player does not matter. New players need to learn the game as a whole at first and they have a limited hero pool while others have all heros. Meaning its fairly useless in terms of “not to overwhelm” them if you only limited theirs.
- New players might spot specific heros they find interesting or even got to try the game because of a certain hero. They start the game just to be greeted by a 50 game playwall until they can play their desired Hero, and say “hell no” and close the game for good. Its daunting.
- because of 5v5 we have a heavy counterpick reliance in the game, Especially if playing with friends new player can be introduced into this topic fairly quickly and should be as its a central element of the Gameplay in OW2
- Matchmaking so bad its not even funny anymore. A friend of mine brought a completely fresh player into our group. The new player had maybe 10 games played. My friendgroup as a whole is around Plat/Dia (but this was before we all put the game down for 10 month). Yesterday we played with the new guy. It was a Desaster. How on earth does Blizzard think its OK to put a group of 3 former Plat/Dia (currently prob. Gold) and one complete rookie against GM-PLAYERS !?!?! The next game after the rookie and one plat/dia player left the group me and my duo faced a Top 110 player.
And all this in QP. Like What. How is that possible. Titanfall 2 has less then 4k players peak, has no real matchmaking system in place anymore and matches still are way more balanced then what ever this is.
It doesn’t matter much considering ppl can just keep playing the old ones if the newly unlocked one seems hard for them.
the only thing that I found odd is the noticeable grind for ball and echo as if they are some god tier heroes or something. It really gives a misleading impression.
They should stop pretending that they know how new players would perform with each hero and let them play everyone from the get-go.

Widowmaker, Sojourn, Doomfist, Wrecking Ball, Tracer - Play 100000 games
All others unlocked immediately.
Widow and sojourn have pretty standard gameplay for an fps. What is the logic here? If someone sux at clicking heads, it is not like playing more going to change that much.
