How would you rank the OW2 heroes?

We have 7 heroes now. Rank them by whatever metrics you want

Personally:

7. Sojourn - probably the most boring dps they ever added to the game. Also hate how her laser gun lacks any real sense of punch, feels more like you’re firing a no-scope sniper rifle

6. Junker queen - Viscerally satisfying abilities, though the kit can get a tad repetitive. When she’s meta she becomes on of the most infuriating heroes

5. Illari - pylon micromanaging and the very limited resource meter is fun, and the ult is cool and requires good teamwork. Main problem is that half her power lies in a bland gun, feels like diet ashe

4. Mauga - When you’re doing anything other than standing in chokepoint while holding m1 m2 in a stalemate with the enemy tank he’s pretty fun. Coolest ult they added since echo. Critical stomps and igniting squishies feels great

3. Kiriko - Fun agile support with a good natural flow to her kit. Healbot players who hoard suzu infinitely are a plague though, thankfully that playstyle just keeps getting worse

2. Rammatra - There’s a great rhythm to swapping from staff + shield mode to punch + block mode. Probably the ultimate that gives you the greatest raw sense of power. There are a few too many boring matches where you’re just following the flow chart though

\1. Lifeweaver - highly versatile highly cohesive kit with a lot of room for strategy. Unfortunately it’s kind of a symmetra situation where the most boring use cases are by far the most common, but I love just having that potential

If I had to guess I’d say venture will probably land somewhere in the top 4

When she’s meta, the game at least revolves around a skill tank and not just nonsense D.Va/Winston/Zarya every game.

Can we just remove his existence? His entire design is just pure stupidity.

His ult is still incredibly dumb and a “I win” button unless you got Transcendence.

Only did the tanks because I’m a tank main.

But I would say with tanks from OW2…

Mauga is #3, Ram is #2, and JQ is #1.

The game has NOT revolved around Zarya since her nerfs in season 1. She’s been good in a few seasons but she blows rn.

Also, What rank do you play in where you think JQ is a more skillful tank than Zar?

In general shes easier to just win w/ and ive been swapping Zar out for JQ alot this season.

S - Lucio

F - everyone else

7. Mauga
Not fun to play as, with, or against.

6. Lifeweaver

I personally love Lifeweaver, but I’m tired of them releasing heroes and then permanently dumpstering them.

5. Sojourn

Overall lack of personality and generic kit.

4. Junkerqueen

Fun hero, fun kit. Loses some points for her hitbox being too small and lacking tank abilities.

3. Illari

Love the pylon, fun theme overall.

2. Kiriko

Fun hero to play, I enjoy playing against her. Loses some points for having overwhelmingly negative interactions in game.

1. Rammatra

Best lore, great voice acting, well designed kit. The only thing I don’t like is the barrier piecing fists.

  1. Junkerqueen - the best designed hero they’ve added since going to ow2. Isn’t a complete cancer to play against or with.

  1. Illari - Good design for bringing dps players into support without being overly “dps” based. Pylon is an atrociously designed ability but can be better.

And now the massive drop off

  1. Ram - Just really boring. He’s another one of those tanks where they just cycle between defensive cooldowns and feel practically unkillable 90% of the time unless you full on jump him or ignore him entirely.

  1. Sojourn - Completely busted, but at least has some semblance of skill involved.

And now an even bigger drop off

  1. Lifeweaver - God awful hero design. He has no flexibility with his kit everything does and serves one purpose. That’s it. Lifegrip is cancer to play against. Free immortality save with nothing you can do to physically stop or prevent it. Elevator + dash + support passive cycling to basically just stay perma alive. And then he has all this cancer just to end up sucking because he’s a “heal or nothing” hero.

  1. Kiriko - Just busted… But unlike sojourn not semblance of skill involved at all. Another immortality support hero, who’s at the same time completely undivable. She has everything, there’s essentially no downside. Good heals, good damage (if you can simply move your mouse up and just spam head level), an immortality (that also does 50 other different things) and the best escape in the game.

  1. Mauga - The most anti fun hero to ever be added to this game. He’s not fun to play with, he’s not fun to play against, and he’s not fun to play as. There is ZERO saving feature about this character. His kit is boring, the main way to play him and get value is boring, and his design could have been better thought out by a toddler.
  1. Kiriko because :doughnut:  :hocho:

  2. Junkerqueen - She’s been fun as heck the few times I’ve played her. She’s like a superior version of Reaper; get up close and just become this unkillable berserker. I like her cinematic characterization much better than her in-game lines, though…

  3. Rammatra - He loses points for being yet another tank with a throw-down barrier on top of everything else he does, but he gains major points for his amazing characterization. I love listening to everything he says.

  4. Illari - Her kit is meh, and feels like another Baptiste; just something they made out of spare parts. I give her points, though, because (hotteok, probably) I like her voice acting. They also gave her a llama, and it’s only a matter of time before he shows up in an emote.

  5. Mauga - 100% carried by his personality and Maui jokes. His kit is like Zarya but worse. I don’t know what you’re supposed to do with him except hold down W + M1 and push a button every so often. Spontaneously combusting every five seconds is also annoying, even if he blows up if you look at him angrily.

  6. Lifeweaver - He’s just happy to be here, probably.

  7. Sojourn - Sergeant Bootscooch is basically just Soldier with a better kit and a less entertaining personality. Her only plus is Murphy.

High diamond/Low Master.

So don’t even try your rank shame nonsense you’re reaching for.

And Zarya is by far one of the most annoying and over tuned tanks. She’s super easy to get value out of, really with the bubble buffs she received prior to her damage revert/buff.

1.Mauga - My favorite new hero since Orisa. I missed having a fun minigun character in this game since Bastion’s rework ruined him for me and while I don’t think Mauga is quite as fun as OW1 Bastion was, he’s pretty dang close.

2.Illari - My favorite new support hero they’ve added so far. Probably my 2nd or 3rd favorite support hero overall.

3.Ramattra - Took a while for me to start liking his kit, but I immediately loved him as a character.

4.Lifeweaver - Pretty rocky launch, but I found him pretty fun to play almost immediately.

5.Sojourn - I didn’t like her much at first, and frankly I still don’t really care for her as a character, but I do find her kit pretty fun, even if it is a balancing nightmare at times.

6.Junker Queen - The most annoying character they’ve ever added imo. Not really in terms of gameplay, though I don’t find her particularly enjoyable to play as/with/against, but more so just as a character, I find her really irritating.

7.Kiriko - Annoying character with an overloaded kit and an endless supply of mediocre skins (fun to play tho).

Lifeweaver > the rest

Don’t feel too strongly about ranking the rest, but sojourn is the least fun of the lot to me. That’s probably a dps thing, though, so I’m giving her grace bc I like her design. Mauga is usually pretty aggravating to play against (and with sometimes), but his personality balances it out a bit. Hate kiriko’s personality, like her kit. That sorta thing. I’m very loudly a lifeweaver defender above all else though

  1. Illari - 2 tap head
  2. Kiriko- 2 tap head
  3. Sojourn- railgun is cool/ fun mobility, pimary feels like crap

Revert the hp numbers, the new TTK is terrible

kiriko seems to be the home run in popularity and i bet skin sales… since they keep on churning them out

sojourn while less popular does have that skill curve where she is very good at the highest ranks but meh at lower ones. if people like that design then she is good in that regard. (like tracer)

junker queen is like a roadhog lite hero. personally i find her design pleasing and i think she is VERY COOL. i just dont play her much since i hate tanking…

illari comes off as a downer, always sulking. when she was released i really loved her gameplay and style… but they just kept on nerfing her and this latest global change kind of dumpstered her

mauga surprised me. i thought everyone wanted him… but when you are made to be overpowered to sell battle passes i guess that charm goes out the window

lifeweaver for them was a mistake i think. they probably didnt sell many battle passes with this hero so thats why mauga ended up the way he did

rammatra is a VERY COOL villain… the misunderstood type villain where even tho his plans are nefarious towards the human race you kind of just agree with him a bit. gameplay wise i think hes like sigma. pretty cool and i played him for a week but yea i dont like tanking

7) Mauga - Not tank material, too slow, no utility, huge hitbox, worst hero ever released in OW history.

6) Rammatra - Good tank for beginners but would have been more interesting with 6v6. Since the nerfs, I don’t play him that much. Sigma has become interesting again in comparison, which explains his 6th place.

5) Junker Queen - Good and fun DPS hero. I still have no clue why they made her a tank hero with that kind of kit… Well, I guess because there should be some incentive to play tanks and because there are already too many DPS heroes. Good luck to any support trying to save a suicidal JQ player that doesn’t take cover, ever (with current DPS passive).

4) Illari - Interesting hero at first but a clear lack of utility. Her healing turret is clunky and takes too much time to get again (long CD), doesn’t have a real support ult and with current patch, her primary damage that used to be rewarded isn’t appealing anymore. I guess that’s the reason why she isn’t played that much anymore (which is kinda sad since she’s the latest hero to have been release - oops I forgot Mauga but I guess he doesn’t really count to me, given how bad he is).

3) Sojourn - fun DPS hero whose mobility potential simply agrees with faster-paced Overwatch since 2022. I wish she had a more original ult and not simply her basic kit enhanced for a few seconds. Also, since I don’t have time to play another FPS game and had to quit Apex a few years ago, it’s nice to have a hero that reminds me of all the good times there.

2) Kiriko - Not really my favorite support and her teleport and climbing wall abilities are too clunky to me BUT it’s nice to finally have a counter to Ana (even though Ana’s kit is still the strongest / best in the game). Also, we clearly didn’t need a third Japanese hero who also happens to ruin the lore of the game by introducing magic (that the OW writers still haven’t explained since the game went F2P). We really didn’t need that.

Oh and the age issue / inconsistency between Genji, Hanzo and Kiriko herself still needs addressing…

1) Lifeweaver - Easily the best support ever released since Ana. Though he seems a bit weak on paper, he can really excel when in the hands of good support players that appreciate that kind of kit. Lifweaver is really original with many abilities that are unique and that’s what Overwatch needed for a long time. Too bad he was released that late as he’s the kind of hero that really represents what 2016-2018 Overwatch was really all about. I hope we get to play LW in 6v6 someday.

I love the damage buffs to thorns released last January and I wish his healing output would depend on the successful shots done with thorns. It would made his kit even more interesting and good LW players would clearly make a huge difference in-game.

  1. Junker Queen, big muscle mommy

  2. Kiriko, I hate her but double headshots on kunai used to be satisfying

  3. Illari, hitscan fun

  4. Ramattra, good voice acting, ult used to be annoying because it was infinite in overtime and on a final push, less obnoxious now, still think pummel is way too ez to use but whatever

  5. Sojourn. Most braindead OP DPS they’ve released at least in OW2, had insane mobility and also a 70m one shot on release! who thought that was a good idea! sometimes fun to play but genuinely a failure of a hero design when they decided to make a sniper with even less downsides of a sniper than the other sniper hero, who already has very little downsides as a sniper lol

  6. Lifeweaver. was so garbage on release, buffed to a point where he became super obnoxious and paired with any other high healing support, contributed to the most boring “nothing dies”team compositions

  7. Mauga. Tank buster tank which made the tank role feel even worse to play for that entire month. Pay to Win hero and it was so funny watching his “mains” stop playing him when he got nerfed

with 100% accuracy and no recoil, sniper would have recoil

7 - Illari - She’s just such a dull character. She can be fun to play at times, but the paper pylon and resource-based gun (m2 resource, m1 has to charge to be strong) is a bit annoying if the match is hectic. Knowing the direction we’re going, I can only hope her story is developed in short stories and comics, if we’ll ever get more. There’s potential, but she’s ultimately a nothingburger. Best part of her is the ult, aka, the UNMATCHED POWER OF THE SUN (unless you’re a blue rectangle or sphere).

6 - Mauga - Really really loved the character. He was one of my biggest wants for OW2 since they were planning him way back in OW1 before getting his release swapped twice (once for Sigma, the next for Ram). What I got became something fun to play in a vacuum; and at launch, m1+m2 the enemy Mauga while nothing happens? The worst. Hope he becomes a fun tank just generally soon enough. He’s a real funny guy, though, and they picked a perfect voice. Still a great “character”, just not a great “hero” if that makes sense.

5 - Sojourn - Similar reasons as Illari, however, I actually enjoy playing her from time to time. The mobility is fun, and landing railgun shots is cool. I kind of enjoy the military no-nonsense personality they’re going for, but still showing she can have fun in some of her lines. There’s not much else to her I can say; she’s just… kinda cool and there.

4 - Lifeweaver - Outside his abysmal launch, this guy is pretty cool. I’ve always advocated for a plant-focused healer, and though this isn’t exactly what I had in mind, it comes pretty close. He’s kinda bad right now, so I haven’t picked him (this is a Lucio season and my time is now) but I get enjoyment out of pulling fun stuff off with him. I duo fairly often, so setting up duo-grip plays is great. Not the best, but like him a lot.

3 - Kiriko - I don’t get the hate for her. Is she annoying? Sure. Does she get far too many skins? Absolutely! But I just get a kick out of throwing suzus, kunai, ofuda, and all that. It’s the simple things!

2 - Ramattra - The big leagues; Ramattra is just a cool robot villain, and I LOVE cool robot villains. Insanely fun to play, giving me vibes of OW1 Orisa at times, and everything about him is just so great to use. Nothing captures the adrenaline of just going Nemesis and punching down anyone who thought they could step to you. That is, except for…

1 - Junker Queen - By far the best character for OW2 so far; I say that because she’s one of the only ones I still frequently play. Knife pulls, axe hits, shout pushes, HUGE ults; she is a fun, wild character, and as devs continue to kneel to players and destroy Roadhog, she fills the pig shaped hole in my pig shaped heart. Her personality is aces, her voice lines are aces, great cosmetics (when she gets them); there isn’t a single thing I don’t enjoy about her. muscle mommy?

  1. Ram

My most played tank in OW1 was Orisa, mostly because for the better part of 2019 she was solid enough tanking on her own in an open queue world where either I filled in as tank or no-one would. She had a good barrier on a moderate cooldown; she could actually shoot people in a first person shooter while protecting her team; Halt hadn’t been mutilated yet; Supercharger was a really good ult.

OW2 Orisa dropped the barrier in favour of the spin and became this bully character instead of a protector. I tried to bear with it but the spirit of Orisa was lost in the rework.

Luckily, Ram is the true Orisa rework. He has a much more sensible barrier (no launching in the air to shave time off the cooldown kind of nonsense), and while puddle is a lacklustre ability, Nemesis is neat. He feels like an OW1 Orisa/Rein hybrid without the stuff that I disliked about their kits.

Oh, and the voice actor for Ram is godlike.

  1. Kiriko

Kiriko feels like a Mercy/Bap hybrid and that is right up my alley. I wish I didn’t hate her stupid voice and her stupid lines but you can’t win 'em all.

  1. Illari

I like minions, traps, deployables, turrets, pets, all that kind of stuff in games. I’ve always wanted a healing turret and hey, here we are! And she’s hitscan, too, without any kind of catch like Ana has, which is an unfortunate rarity among supports!

She’s having a rough time of it at the moment but I think they’re doing a good job making her kit feel more natural. The last two sets of changes have made her gameplay feel a bit more satisfying. We’ll see.

  1. Junker Queen

She’s not my kind of tank. I don’t like tanks that aren’t protectors in any way, I shy away from characters with short range, and I’m not keen on having important mitigation tools on long cooldowns like her shout is. Still, I don’t mind her in the game. Most of the time she’s been fine. I wish her ult’s area of effect was more apparent because even now, I can be surprised by how wide it is, but it’s not a big deal.

I read some Tank Girl as a kid so I think the character of JQ is pretty cool.

  1. Mauga

I want to like him, I do, but the fun way to play him is the wrong way to play him. See, tracking a squishy with LMB long enough to ignite and then capitalising on that by following up with tracking RMB on them? That’s actually really neat gameplay to me.

Holding down both mouse buttons on the centre mass of the other tank? That’s really dull gameplay to me. But it’s what I’m meant to do.

So the only times I ever wheel this guy out is if I want to shoot down Pharmercy because my team isn’t up to it. Ah well. At least he isn’t a total nightmare to face any more. They didn’t do themselves any favours with Christmas Mauga.

Also, why in the seven hells is there no Hawaiian shirt skin for Mauga available for credits?! What!!

  1. Sojourn

Ugh. One shots. At least it had to be charged up, I guess.

Most people who have a guide dog need it to act as an aid to make up for the lack of vision. Sojourn needs a guide dog as an aid to make up for her lack of personality.

  1. Lifeweaver

This guy is a complete mess and a bit of an embarassment, all told.

Kiriko beats lifeweaver, your key point is rather a negative and that is room for cohesive kit and strategy. If you need to plan your plays better than the other guy hero isn’t that good… Those plays only work once if people are smart…
