How would you balance Sombra’s Invis to not be so annoying?

I’m not talking about Hack, Translocator or Virus, only Invis.

People dislike permanent invis, they dislike passive invis, they dislike teleport and invis and they also dislike my ideas of critical health and invis and invis on a timer.

I don’t want to get rid of it for a potential Sombra rework idea, because I think it’s almost as integral to her gameplay/character as Hack is, but none of my ideas seems to sit right with people.

It’s simple. Rework invisbility into mitigation tool

I would make her permanently invisible by removing her from the game.

So cloak and damage resistance? Because full Invis is already mitigation, and damage resistance on top of that would make people blow a vein in their head.

By cloak I mean everyone can sort of see you since there’s a visible light distortion, but they’d have to be looking for you to know you’re there.

Just be quiet man, I can’t have a normal conversation with people like you saying stupid stuff just for the sake of being ‘’’funny and original’’’.

Yeah, to cut down the annoyance factor

Never is, never was

Well if people can’t see you, they typically can’t shoot you. Also turrets if anyone cares.

Tune down invisibility uptime to 3 seconds tops while maintaining the 6 second cooldown and balance her around that.

I don’t think the invis is an issue on its own, it’s an issue with the amount of dmg she can do.

That’s the neat thing. They still can shoot you. Invisibility grants no damage reduction neither evasion, any random bullet or swing will still hit you and do full damage to you

invisibility is already balanced, annoying as people may find it. what isnt balanced is virus and blizzards weird fetish for forcing hack+virus combo into her kit, as well as, for some GOD FORSAKEN REASON the fact that they keep trying to make hacking from invis a thing.

OW2 needs more ways to defeat and hard-counter Sombra’s invisibility. Some examples include:

-footstep sounds
-turrets ignore invisibility and will fire on Sombra even while she is cloaked
-scoped weapons can see invisible objects as a tell tale shimmer, thereby revealing Sombra’s general position but not hit boxes
-invisibility is no longer persistent – once hit by weapon fire, Sombra does not automatically return to an invisible state.

Sombra can be buffed in other ways to offset invisibility’s rebalancing, like hack confusing tech based constructs like turrets to fire on their owner’s team mates and similar. But the invisible ambush assassin kit has to go buh-bye if she is to be allowed back into comp game play.

Blizzard afraid of giving Sombra utility back. She’s basically DPS Moira now. Minus healing

Don’t let her hack or do anything while invisible. It should just be used as an escape tool. Kind of like Invisible Woman. She jumps up and turns invisible.

I’ve always wondered what happens if she can’t hack the same person for 30 seconds. So she can’t just farm one person over and over as soon as the CD is up. If she hacks, say, Ana, she can’t hack Ana again. Or to charge hack at all, maybe she needs to actively be in the fight instead of just running around the map hacking health packs.

Learning her counters maybe?

If I throw a shuriken at her terrible Skrillex cut, I expect her to get knocked out of stealth.

Turn her into support.
Reduce damage, remove virus, make her heal.
Changing her role greatly reduces her incentive to harass back line. At that point invis doesn’t need to be touched and if she does do damage, it would be to SUPPORT a flanker during a dive with hack.

So in order to balance Invis, you want to change literally every other aspect? Can’t we just change Invis?

But that’s the thing, her invis is annoying because of what she can do with it. Being able to hack from invis, or burst people down with virus + her SMG. She has little to no engagement time like she did in OW1 and it makes her super frustrating to interact with because in many cases it can feel impossible to react to.

I guess, that’s the very reason OP suggested to address invis specifically…? Because it enables nasty plays (actually, Sombra was stripped off the other viable plays, but lets pretend for a second Bliz team know what they’re doing with her)

Well her problem isn’t necessarily invis, it’s what she uses it for, which is to engage on ppl with an unfair advantage and kill them with a lack of proactive counterplay by the victim.
The problem is that she’s in a category where her job is to kill.

As long as invis is an engagement tool for a hero meant to kill, we will always have the same problem regardless of invis changes.
