With headshot reduction, Hog will be a nightmare to kill as hitscan/projectile. IMO, looks like the returning of Ana/Kiriko meta to deal with the fat guy, and everyone here hates this support duo.

Which will bring more forums complaints about Ana and Zen. Haven’t heard any complaints about them since season 8. Kiriko will get more playtime, and complain more about Suzu. It’s a never ending circle.

Hog will be harder to kill by squishes, but he’s basically nerfed against all armored tanks. His main weapon took a big L after this rework.
So Hog will have a harder time against the enemy tank.

She cant hs anyway so no effect. She is still the hardcounter. So it doesnt actually solve the issue.
LITERALLY It just makes ana even more required because now everyone else other than ana has an even harder time killing him. Maybe you could kill him as zen with hs before but not anymore. Every tank change they make forces the hard counter even further

You will now be even more required to play beams into dva since the best way to kill her other than beams is shoot at her crit spot during the minimal downtime between matrix uses you get. But with the crit reducition that is now worse. So now beams are even more required to be played into her

Ana, zen is the way to go. Hanzo can put good pressure on hog with storm arrows, ironically thats his only niche currently. Thats about it though, hog is a hero that should have been actually reworked into a tank long ago. Blizzard instead made him dps 5.0
No, its in the next midseason patch. I’m assuming we’ll see it on the 14th/21st ( if the pattern of every season is 9 weeks holds and this season started 16th of April)
It is quite odd that I never really thought how Mauga might appear in these upcoming changes now that I am thinking about it.

Oh no you mean other roles have to swap to counter a tank? Can’t have that, we need to let all other roles play w/e they want and only have the tank role playing counterwatch.

dps passive as well as the meta shifting to favor dive, which just avoids hog as a principle of the comp

You dont even need to outright kill him. If you force the roadhog to play defensively, you are winning.

This exactly. I played a lot of hog before I stopped tanking. Ana + Hanzo is the best counter duo. Cassidy, echo and sojourn are also super strong dps against him. Torb is great too on some maps. Headshot reduction will help him, but probably not that much against these heroes who get a lot of value just by applying pressure. Of course, Zen can help a lot.
The counters don’t change with the patch. Hog will still be a 1-3 fight hero and then switch. His problem is that too many heroes counter him. Not just to kill him but to make him ineffective. All the new supports (except perhaps Illari who can only save herself) counter hook in some way. LW pull is the easiest counter there is. But suzu is also strong. Bap immort, zarya bubbles, matrix, and so many other things.
If he wasn’t so easily countered they could make him weaker, but because the entire enemy team warps into hog counters withing 3 fights if he does even remotely well, he has to be strong or he would be unplayable. He is pretty unplayable once there are 3+ counters on the other team already.
