How useful would Crusaders be in todays warfare?

Title says it all; how useful would it be to have someone like Reinhardt with his barrier shield in todays warfare?

Worthless. He would be decent to like… Entertain children.

huh. really…

well ok

Look into ‘space marine anatomy’ things like a 2nd heart, an auxiliary 3rd lung, chems that improve muscle mass, etc. would make a juggernaut type character viable in warfare.

As for barriers, I think placed ones such as orisas would be more useful than having a soldier hold one, you know, needing to use one hand to hold it would be cumbersome.

Would be as usefull as moving barrier. So depends how much it would survive, cannon fire? Air bombard? or just simple gun breaking it like in game?

Pretty impactful, literally.

Lore wise, his armor can apparently withstand high caliber weapons and he’s got pretty insane mobility compared to a normal soldier.

Put him in an urban environment and it’ll have the same effect as a mortar bombardment. He’ll be crashing through houses and walls to get you up close, flatten your squad in about ten seconds, and then move on to the next bunkered squad.

You may be able to stop him with a tank round, but how do you maneuver that in tightly packed urban combat without blowing yourself up? This is a tank with better mobility than a human. He’ll be so close that an HE round would kill your own squad (assuming that he doesn’t put up his shield).

Think of a Crusader as someone with a NOCLIP cheat. No matter where you go, he’ll just flank safely out of the line of fire, and go through the wall to run you over.

Jesus christ, sounds OP. Unlike what someone else said at the start of this thread - they probably have some kind super soldier serum, like Reaper and 76,since how else would they carry all of that.

but what about the other heroes… then… Like genji,or doomfist.

Dunno, Rein can’t really tank a nuclear warhead can he?

Oh,no one can. Or maybe…? Idk,but that doesnt really count.

If you actually look at Reinhardt outside of his armor (in comics/conematic ), he clearly doesn’t fill the entire thing.

The shield is attached to that part of the armor, on his arm.

It makes sense for it to be a sort of piston system, imo. There was fan-art depiction of it from a while back but I don’t know if I’d be able to find it.

In terms of real-world application, Reinhardt being able to huddle over a group of his allies and protect them from a literal airstrike- is insane.

Not only that, but his armor and shield can block continuous firing from a gun the size of a human’s arm or torso (Bastion is 8ft tall). Reinhardt’s armor (specifically) is also stated as being so damaged it’s at about 1/10th of normal Crusader armor.

Think of it more like a mech, and it makes sense. This also isn’t taking into account that Firestrike melts through dirt, stone, concrete, and metal- picks it up- and launches it as molten slag. It is hot enough, fast enough, and heavy enough, to make a Bastion unit fall to pieces.

Crusader armor is insanely powerful, and against modern weapons- it’d be incredibly difficult to kill someone in one. Let alone having an entire army of them.

Yes, we have anti-Tank weapons, but if you see the armor’s effectiveness in cinematics against hordes of Sentry-Turret Bastions, our weapons wouldn’t do nearly enough to bring him down.

Yet Baldrich got shanked once and died. Noob healers am I right ?

To be fair, the blade was massive- and superheated.

This explains why it got through the armor, however, where he got stabbed indicated that he would bleed to death. Which explains why when it shows Balderich fighting, everything seems to go in slow-motion. He knows he’s a dead man.

With proper aid, Balderich definitely could’ve lived. I mean, they have nanotechnology for healing…
Balderich died because of lack of access to care.

He sacrificed himself to stay behind so Reinhardt could get out safely.

In one of the things for Orisa, I think it’s her intro actually- a car runs into Orisa and is crushed. She doesn’t move an inch.

All of the Tanks are HORRIFYING, but that’s why I love fantasy.

I want a rework of the “Honor and Glory” animation.

Wow, I really thought future Germany would have a better healthcare system than the present United States.
