How u can you stop good genji who has normal or nanoblade for every fight?

i been seeing genjis lately who clear every fight with nanoblade…sometimes its normal blade cause ana cant keep up how fast genji ult charges lol…its kinda ridiculous…can u somehow stop genji getting ult that fast? sometimes even double shield wont work.

Having a god tier ana that sleeps him nearly every fight, having a decent brig that ruins his dash or has her ult, or having a player clutch it (Hanzo, Widow oneshot him, roadhog hook him…). Zaryas grav can also be a good trait if he gets nanoed. But yes its really hard to stop a good one.

As a Lucio player, if you focus on healing AND damaging, yes it is possible though most of the time it won’t be up. Only thing is that Lucio is a viable counter even without beat, but you will need some coordination with your team - You’ll have to boop the genji right after he dashes and immediately amp away from him, or you’ll risk getting your front or backline crushed immediately.

Forgot to mention, you might be able to counter blade if you use hammond’s mines and your entire team stands directly in the middle (also applicable to blizzard) though it is also possible that the Genji will be able to kill one or two of your teammates during that.

The problem is that it is turning into the exact same situation as Mass Res. Genji’s been buffed to the point where if he is skilled he can choose to ult or to hold on to it.

Nano Blade was always a pain, but the problem is the Swift Strike Recharge, before it was acceptable because it only charges when he ‘killed’ a target. However with the new damage increase, the recharge seems unneccessary. The recharge was originally impletemented to keep up his kills but now that his damage has been buffed it is so BS, you can’t even keep track of him. Originall he could be dealt with because quite frankly… not a lot of people was actually that good with him.

He’s been toned into an easy to play hero with very little to no counters, I won a match yesterday because I persuaded and advised my team on what to do and we ran 4 Genji counters just to force him off. I focused on the Mercy to stop her pocketing or reviving him.

Dash not resetting would effectively make him useless as a character.
He wouldn’t be able to escape, and blade would never get more than one kill if the enemy team just doesn’t play grouped up.

Yeah but the thing to remember was that dash was there to make up for his damage output since he didn’t do much of it consistently enough to make a big impact.

Now it’s like Dash, melee/secondary and it’s recharge then combo repeat and because of this half my team died without even knowing what happened to them.

Honestly with the way Genji is you have two options.

Revert the boost to his damage or nerf some other aspect of him such mobility, spread or swift strike or Dragon Blade.

Since Blizzard made it clear that they will NEVER revert or at least hard revert to an exact iteration of the character.

We can cross damage and spread from the list.

So the choices are nerf to his mobility, his swift strike or his Dragonblade or a rebuff to his counters to match the power scaling.

sorry to break the news to you

one of the owl player leak on stream yesterday that they are going to buff genji even more

said something about bigger deflect hitbox

and

dash being immune to damage

And you got this information where?
He has dash so that he can engage on a low HP character, confirm the kill, and disengage/attack the next target

Dash not resetting would make it useless, since now if you went in for a kill with dash, you’re out of position and are going to die.

I think he does deserve a nerf, but getting rid of his dash reset would destroy him.

do you have a link?

Lucio is the god in that term but if you want normal abilities to stop him.

dive movement, mei’s wall+cryo+big health pool, Reaper’s wrath form+health pool, Any tank hp, Moira’s fade,Brigitte’s stun, Lucio’s speed, Echo & Pharah’s range,Ashe coach gun,Sombra’s hack/invisibility/translocator, Symmetra turrets

It’s kind of common sense, right now the current changes to his damage has made him too BS to deal with since in the right hands he can blitz down anyone that isn’t a tank. So something must go and I’m willing to bet Swift Strike or Dragon Blade will be one of targets they will focus on.

I doubt they will nerf his mobility and knowing/speaking from experience in the way that Blizzard balance things, we can kiss damage and spread nerf goodbye because they will not revert that.

So either they hit Dragon Blade and reduce duration or damage. Swift Strike Distance and damage output or out right get rid of the rest or hit his mobility which is unlikely.

So Swift Strike or Dragon Blade… But hey, Moira, Brigitte and Mercy took their nerfs to their beloved kit, I’m sure Genji players are MAN enough to suck it up too a nerf is inevitable.

if your aim is good you can easily kill him with 5 shots with almost every aim character

I went Mei was able to freeze and stop Genji but the team lacked damage output and therefore lost.

Been playing Echo to get better at her and can do resonably well with her if the other DPS and Supports are capable of keeping up since you know… no hit scans can be detrimental… it feels like now a days you need two DPS to be on their ball games and supports knowing what they are doing, they cannot mess up on healing.

Bastion is situation but he can blitz through/keep up with the damage and rate of kills if the team lacks speed in making kills.

Pharah works but again similar issue to Echo when you need a Hitscan you need a hit scan.

Moira’s been nerf to a point where she vs old genji was 1 for 1 it can be either players win but right now Genji has the edge on her unless she stays off his scope.

It’s not ideal, but as a tank player, anytime I see a genji/ana combo on the enemy team… I just go zarya and grav genji anytime he nano blades. Yup… just hold him in place and put him in time out til that crap fades away haha

Mei is more for freezing the tanks in my opinion.
the thing about dive is that they’re good at quick kills, but it something takes too long they will lose…
So for Mei vs Genji I would say focus more on survivng and letting your tanks do the job rather then get the kill, you can help freezing him but the focus should be on the tanks and survive ability.

The thing about Bastion, a good Genji will focus Bastion first, he’s a really easy kill for Genji and so picking him to counter Genji may not be the best idea…

A lot of players make that mistake- support’s job is not killing enemies when threatened.
Sure you can put damage for presusre but if you want to survive as a support you should either escape, make enemies life harder or make your team’s life easier.
Moira is an escaper- if Genji jumps on you just fade away to safety. if you want then you can keep on attacking him but before anything it’s better to just get out.

The problems is that Genji keeps blitzing our Supports, swift > secondary/melle > swift and if really unfortunate we could essentially lose half our team within 30 seconds of engagement.

Whilst it is important to assist the team and freeze targets for the tanks and other DPs to their job, it is also important to ensure keyplayers die… there is no point to pushing in without your support especially if you don’t have self sustain.

Good Genji’s are quite rare… arguably the buff have made him easier to play but a true good Genji is debatable but again same can be said about Bastion players. So far I am able to deal with the enemy team and wipe their key players as Bastion whilst ignoring the Genji and that’s basically their tank, support and other DPS… usually it takes 2 or 3 people to jump on me and for the Genji I time myself to shoot when he stops deflecting… again a good Genji is still hard to come by… but without a doubt he has significant boost to make even the worst Genji’s good.

Sometimes when the back line gets hit you need that safety net, also Moira doesn’t have infinite healing so she needs to balance both damage and healing. Sometimes she is the best option for dealing with Genji, however the nerf forces her to basically heal slave and with limited range and resource, she is essentially worse than Mercy but people are sick of Mercy so you don’t have Mercy’s anymore and instead you end up with second rate healers who think they are awesome but their healing can be mediocre and even if they complain they are healing all they are doing is pumping juice into the tanks because they are easier to heal. I’ve found over half my matches where I stand next to them and ask for healing and they still won’t heal. When I play support I pay attention and make sure my team mates are getting healing and I’m not just pocketing one person.

It’s true but as a dps it’s not your job protecting your team…
the thing about Genji is that he’s a really good counter to most dps, but weak to both tanks and support heroes.

If your support don’t do anything against him then the tanks need to go for him, but it’s also an option for them to do the job…
I always thought Zarya’s bubble should be like in 3-1-2 instead of their current situation so that can be helpfull…

but overall the support class gives you a lot of options to deal with him.
Mercy can fly in the sky,Lucio got speed and boop, Moira can fade out of range, Brig can stun, bap got lamp, ana got nade to pressurize him.
some are weaker to Genji- that’s true, but you can get a lot of value from picking the right support…

On the place Lucio is the best support counter against genji being able to not only survive him but also protect the team using speed and boop.

but the other options work really good as well…

If you do insist on tank. bubble is so far the best solution…

on the dps class like I said earlier no real dps can protect your team but Symmetra…
tp let your team gain range and turrets put tons of pressure on him.
There’s really not muchyou can do to kill him but shoot him and hope for results.

Torbjorn also might be a good option concidering the effectiveness of the turret and the turret’s hp.

As a Moira player against Genji you should prioritize hitting him over healing.
you do more healing than damage but especially when he blades healing doesn’t gonna save anyone…
Instead focus on scaring him away and get out of his range.

Die fast so you can reset fast and can contest the next fight knowing they won’t have blade for the next 30 seconds. Or kill the genji before he can blade ala Mercy with mass ress and then keep killing him. =)

Unless someone feeds that is.
