How to Widowmaker?

No matter what I do, I miss almost every shot on Widow. Can someone tell me how to channel my inner Dreamkazper and pop off? I realize that’s unrealistic. I just want to get more than one headshot per game.

A lot of it is movement prediction and animation memorization. Don’t shoot jumping enemies on the way up. Know the jump arc and hit them in the head on the way down. Know McCree’s roll length and where he will pop up. Stuff like that. Most of the time it’s prefiring at a predicted point.

The wsy I see it. There are two ways to play widowmaker.

Flicks or Prediction

They’re both self explanatory.

Flicks involve you actively going after the Target.

It works on still/slow targets like other Widows/Hanzos/Bastions

Prediction involves you waiting for them to line the shot up for you.

It works on faster heroes like Junkrat or Junkrat.

Which one you prefer is up to you.
I personally like to predict my opponents.

Then again my Perception is my worst skill so I just rely on my huge luck stat to carry me.

Track

  • The same arm movements as playing Soldier and keeping your crosshair trained on an enemy as they run.
    • Practice setup - Boot up a Custom Game with Lucio bots. Disable their damage. Pick Soldier, and keep your crosshair on them following them.

Flick

  • Ingrained muscle memory on how far you have to move your arm/wrist/fingers for a set distance. Requires constant guesstimation, and a starting position to start your flick.
    • Practice Setup - Boot up Training Range, and go to the two bots straight out of spawn room. Train your aim on the bot closest to the right, keep it stationary on him, then rapidly move towards the left-bot’s head and shoot. Keep doing this until you can do it without fail. Eventually you will ingrain that muscle memory that you no longer need the bots to be visible (you just remember the pixel spacing).

Lead & Wait

  • Intuitively guessing where an enemy is going to walk, and training your crosshair at head level so when they eventually walk into it, you basically perform a quick time event.
    • Practice Setup - Boot up Custom Games, give yourself ultimate on spawn, set the ultimate timer for forever. Add bots, and snipe them as they round corners with wallhacks up. Then, after a while, disable wallhacks and do the same exact thing when bots walk out in the open.

I found lowering my DPI helped greatly. Made my aim less shaky (Not to say it made me a pro, but I was actually able to hit people 50% of the time)
