My google searches for “How to use Sigma’s Ult” don’t result in any videos that teach me the really basic, basic skill of what do I click on to do what with his ult. It’s all very confusing and non-intuitive and I’m just looking for a video to show me what to click and when to click it to just use the basic ult. Can someone please post a link to such a video? Thanks.
Just press q and watch the magic happen bro ezpz
The forum Sigma just presses Q as soon as he has ult and gets a sextuple.
There’s way more to it than Q. The mouse buttons do something and the space bar does something, right? Any other keys?
u walk forward. when u want to go in, press q. shoot people while in air. u should basically get 2 kills by yourself. then clean up and win the team fight.
ur only counter is basically lucio. if the other team doesnt have him then the enemy is basically dead.
So you’re saying just press Q and that’s it. I don’t need to aim where the Q hits or left click to initiate the lift up or anything like that. JUST. Q?
Step By step process
- Determine Who you’re going for with this ult.
- Good choices are Nano’d Reins or Ulting Genjis
- Maybe picking off Low HP targets like an Ana
- Wait until their mobility/escape is on CD
- Get your target dead center in the ult and hit M1
Ideally executing the ult should take as little time as possible lest you are stunned out of it
i don’t have videos to be linked sorry! but i can tell you that sigmas ult should be used as a way to single out a target.
now that doesn’t mean solo ult someone every time bc his ult is very powerful. it means when you ult have a target that you want to take out each time. (easy targets include ana, mercy, zen, mccree, and soldier)
make sure that the enemy’s defensive abilities are on cooldown to get maximum payoff from it.
another thing is that, while gravitic flux can be used to initiate teamfights, it is much better used mid fight or too clean up a bunch of low health targets.
you pretty much just hit q
unless there’s a lucio, then keep track of beat i guess
i guess hog and zarya can also nullify the damage from it to themselves (one other in zars case)
Can I just say I’m confused how someone with over two hours on a hero doesn’t know how to use their ultimate?
You can deny rotations from the enemy team, which can allow your own team to take stronger position. It can also lead into other ultimates like Reaper’s Death Blossom right after the slam. It can also be effective at baiting out Lucio’s Sound Barrier.
I know there’s more to it than Q. It’s sad the documentation and tutorials within the game itself don’t tell you anything. But even more surprising is there is literally NOTHING on the subject ANYWHERE on the Internet.
Well there isn’t much. Everyone covered the most basic of rules for using Grav flux.
All I have to add is this, get a feel for his upward movement after pressing Q. You will need to be familiar with it, so you can continue aiming the center of flux. It also has a huge range, so don’t be afraid to use it coming back from spawn.
Q to begin ult. Space to float higher. Ctrl to descend. Click to ult the targeted area.
Honestly, the best tip I can give you for Sigmas ult, start a fight, back up, and if they come towards you they all bunch up out of position allowing you to press q and while they scramble in a straight line back to their defensible spot you can put it so they’re all on the close side to you of the circle, and they either get stuck running into your team in an unfavorable fight, or they get caught in the ult, also making it an unfavorable fight.
The same also applies to if they are backpedaling on you, it puts the entire team on a predictable path they NEED to take so you just apply the same tactic there too. So basically, never open with the ult, the ult comes mid fight rather than before otherwise they’ll have every kind of save move to make your ultimate completely ineffective.
Go into a custom match with some kind of super fast Ult charge rate and practice. Placing the Ult, getting a feel of Sigma’s flight while it’s active and all that. Pushing Q is the bare minimum you can do to get use out of the ult.
However there is more to it if your smart. First off it gives you a couple of seconds of flight, this means you can save your self from a boop, possibly take a short cut over a building when coming back from spawn and so on. Now this is kind of a waste of an Ult if that is all you do, but if you can also end such a flight with some kills it’s worth it.
The other thing to remember is you lift people high enough to count as leaving the payload/objective. This is pretty useful in OT situations as there really isn’t anything you can do to counter other than abilities to make you immune to CC like Fortify or Ice block.
When using it on enemies remember two things. It does 50% of their HP, so if they are higher than that don’t expect any one to die without some back up from your team. Much like Zarya’s grav it works best with some team work. You don’t exactly have to pair it up with an Ult, but at least some friendly fire helps.
Secondly it’s rather slow, you hold them up in the air for a fairly long time and it gives the enemy team plenty of time to counter. This can be done by the healers healing their team above 50%, dropping an immortality field, Lucio’s sound barrier and so on.
But in the end it charges fairly fast, don’t be afraid to use it on 2-3 enemies. Waiting for that perfect 6 man kill is generally a waste and the more people inside the area the easier it is for them to avoid death via some counter method.
Hi there! I’m Isenfer, I’m the General Manager and Main Tank of WW - Baguettes. A low tier eSport team.
I’m actually a Main Tank specialist, but I know a good deal about all of the Tanks. My peak was 3,796 but I regularly play in GM games (because Tanks don’t exist anymore).
With Sigma’s ultimate, it really depends on what your other Tank is and what the current situation in-game is at any given time.
It’s not like Whole Hog or Graviton or Shatter, it’s not really a straight-forward ultimate because it can be used in many different ways.
The basics of Sigma’s ult, which I will shorten to “Flux” consists of three things; Engaging, Sig9ing, and Protecting.
In order, that is how you will primarily use Flux.
Engaging with Flux is a simple concept. It does half of the enemy’s maximum health to anyone caught inside of its AoE (Area of Effect).
Not only that, but it makes them basically immobile for the next second or so after they land (if they survive).
The two primary ways to engage with Flux is to use it very early on in the fight, to drain your enemy of resources (such as defensive abilities, like Zarya’s bubble- or meters such as Moira’s healing spray).
If they do not have these resources later in the fight, it will be easier for your team to focus down a target and kill them.
Another way to engage with Flux is by doing a “combo”, wherein two ultimates are invested to secure kills, typically done in Overtime.
Due to the slowing effect as enemies fall to the ground, Flux pairs very well with ultimates such as D.Va’s Self Destruct, Tracer’s Pulse Bomb, Reaper’s Death Blossom, and Hanzo’s Dragonstrike.
Typically, you want the Non-Flux ultimate to positioned under your enemies BEFORE they land. This way, they have little time or ability to react to it.
To Sig9 is to forcibly make an enemy team unable to stand on an objective. As you are aware, Flux lifts enemies high off the ground.
One such way this can be used is with Payload maps. Should one team be on the cart (such as the attackers in overtime)- you can use Flux on the center of the cart and cause them to lose as none of them can touch the objective until Flux is over.
Another way to utilize this mechanic is with protecting a location.
You do NOT want to get caught in an enemy’s ultimate, especially Flux.
So, much like Mei or D.Va’s ultimate; it can be used for zoning. Forcing enemies to run away/around Flux- or having no choice but to run into it and take massive amounts of damage.
You can do this, for example, by placing his ultimate in a choke as enemies rush to contest a capture point or payload.

That’s all I can cover for now, but if you have any questions- please do reply back to this post.
When you press Q, you will jump into the air a bit and have free flight for the duration of the ultimate. You also gain a targeting circle on the ground.
Aim where you want it and press M1 to activate. After a short delay (be mindful enemies can escape during this delay, but not after) all trapped enemies will be flung into the air for a short period of time. You can attack with your Primary Fire during this time as well.
Afterwards, all affected enemies will be slammed into the ground and take 50% of their maximum HP in damage.
Thanks Dust.
Isenfer, to Sig9 you need to control how high they are lifted instead of just letting go on automatic. What button do I press to affect that control?
He’s one of the hardest heroes to learn… at only 2hrs most players would still barely understand him, let alone use him (or his ult, for that matter) effectively.
