I see a lot of people saying baps ult is a throw away ult, just use it for yourself, it’s not that good, I’ve been climbing with this so I must be doing something right, here are the ults you want to save matrix for.
- Annhilation, no matter what stay mid to long range your teams gonna be shooting at this anyways if anyone’s back with you it’s fine but using it alone against this is fine as well, getting rid of this ult is your top priority.
- Bob, look if it’s a “throw away” ult anyways just get rid of that dang thing a ult for a ult, or if you think you can just burst him down, ping him as well, and ask for heals as soon as hes thrown.
- Terra surge, if you are not in the pull yes, if you are in the pull it’s a matter of luck really and how many teammates you have there, not “recommended” but doable.
- Duplication… Get rid of this fast you might not need it because echo dies quickly in her ult anyways and everyone just focuses her but there’s no harm in using it.
- Kitsunai rush, this is a battle of attrition really don’t take the fight on a slopped plain if it is a straight forward path then yes, whoever has the better aim wins.
- Primal rage, winston has 2 options either get distracted by you… Or die.
- Sym wall this is where things start to get tricky cause you need at least 1 or 2 high damage teammates, if you have like a cass, junkrat, etc yes but if not use it for something else, this is lowest priority.
- Last is Nano, don’t know why but even with my entire team shooting at this ult we cannot break it, they’ll get past it by that time, the rest I can give like even credible evidence to back them up, this one I simply cannot out do it is the lowest priority.
- Solo ulting bastion, because literally why not.
- Just flank with it.

Wait, so are you saying you want to oppose those ultimates with it?
Gotta be real, those are some wonky, general cases. I’ve also never heard anyone say it was a useless ultimate. 
Most people jump on it if they can. Depends on its positioning in relation with your team. Even aside from that, it’s not really a reactive ultimate; that’s what the lamp is for. Think the only real circumstance to use it responsively would be the enemy Kiriko’s ultimate, maybe?
In any case, if it doesn’t feel useful, maybe swap and use a character with better response potential? 
That or use Baptiste to stick with your long-ranged teammates if you have any.
Me, personally, I love seeing that matrix plopped right in the front line where tanks are trying to tear each other’s arms off. Turns those tables pretty doggone fast.
My first 3 examples were tanks! And a tank copier, I don’t hear people saying it’s useless just mainly to ise it for yourself, use your lamp against annhilation I dare you, use it against orisa, bob is bob you can pick there.
Why switch heros when I can just use my high value hero and get rid of a high value ultimate, I did not read that right.
He’s not as all-purpose as Orisa. It’s still overwatch. There are good and bad times to use his kit.
Oh I agree there are times I just use it because it would help me like push a attack, or keep the fight going etc etc, so we can agree on that it does varry.
it’s not a reactive ult because no one has ever tried using it as a reactive ultimate, if lamp is for stopping ults why not just kill the target as well, or heck not even have to use lamp (we bap players actually don’t like using lamp as much as people think we do it leaves us I wouldn’t say insanely vulnerable because obviously hops and all that, but less vulnerable then wed like) just kill the target make them waste a ult like Annhilation and you still have lamp, like I said echo you can just kill her so yeah you can just lamp that I just think it’s fine, kitsunai rush, there gonna rush you and kill you, by the time you turn the corner, lamp, and run you have 5 angry people chasing you down, not only that the K rush has a lingering effect, I think what your going for is pre actively using it before any of this has a chance to happen, but it’s gonna happen eventually is the problem, eventually Ashe is gonna bob, Rammatras gonna ult, orisas gonna do her thing, now they have to rebuild those game winning ults, rather then just coming in and killing you with them in the first place.
Ya know now that I type it out loud it seems like this works better on defense… That explains why I’ve been winning so many defense games lately.
