How to Unlock 300 fps?

I have 240 hz monitor and stabile 300 fps .
I wanna more fps  . How to unlock it?

P.s In config file i can`t found “fps cap = 300”

Have you tried turning it off and back on again?

There is definitely a way to do it since I have seen streamers with more but not sure how

Having a 240hz monitor is only the first step. You’re going to need an above average CPU and faster than normal RAM in order to get 300fps stable.

Your monitor can’t display 300 fps.

He just wants to know how to get above 300 FPS I believe

If your monitor is 240hz Refresh, you shouldn’t run it ABOVE 240fps. otherwise it just doesn’t look that great and causes issues. You can do it. But it isn’t recommended.

I recall hearing there was a config file but it gets overwritten when you go to settings or something like that.

Going above 300fps will give you very negligible improvements in input latency. You’re much better off running at a consistent framerate.

Ryzen 7 3700x and 1080 8GB , 16 GB Ram 3400Mhz

in the config file you are talking about changing fps cap to = 400 instead of 300 will allow 400 fps if the machine can handle it.

However do remember that above 240 the monitor won’t display it but you will get a very ever so slightly better input lag. This can’t be done within menus.

For clarity the file is located in

C:\Users\%username%\Documents\Overwatch\Settings\Settings_v0.ini

And what next? I can`t see “fps cap = 300”

Under the heading [Render.13]

FrameRateCap = “400”

I would suggest making a copy of the file before changing it

FYI, You don’t want to run with uncapped FPS in Overwatch, as that actually increases input lag by maxing out the GPU usage.

this video explains a bit. I think there was another one too, I’ll try to find it.

this one. It depends on the game really but Overwatch is a weird one.

But if you were displaying at 600 frames per second you could go from 3.3ms render queue flips to 1.6ms - it’s a theoretical improvement but I’m not tech savvy enough to tell you about if you could actually even use that performance for completely realtime inputs - but the CPU time would probably put the input a few ms out of the render queue and that would just act as a bottleneck to whatever improvement it would make on the GPU rend times as completely null.

I found this resource for it, if you hadn’t found it, apparently the pros do this often.

Overwatch is capped to 300 frames per second, but most professionals play at higher framerates using a simple trick to unlock the framerate.

To do the same, open the game and go to OptionsVideo settings and set them to the following:

  • Display mode – Fullscreen
  • Resolution – Your native resolution + refresh rate ; if you have a 1080p 240 Hz monitor you’ll want it set to 1920 x 1080 (240)
  • VSync – Off
  • Limit FPS – Custom
  • Frame Rate Cap – 300

Make sure you’ve got everything correct and then click ‘apply’.

Then you’ll need to exit Overwatch and go to Documents\Overwatch\Settings and open Settings_v0.ini. Search for [Render.13] and change FrameRateCap=”300″ to FrameRateCap=”400″ and then save the file. Launch Overwatch and you should be breaking through that 300 FPS barrier. Important here is that you don’t go into settings after you’ve done this or the game will switch back to 300 FPS.

Hope that helps dude.

There’s no difference and it’s a waste of computing power.
