If smurfs need to soft throw games, and they’re going to do it anyway. Blizz might as well let anyone anytime (not in the middle of a match of course) lower their SR willingly.
Now smurfs seem to be a big problem on the forums. Blizz probably has a pretty good idea how many ppl are soft throwing. If the smurf problem isn’t as big as the forums say it is, then this is not needed. However, you should always be able to shed as much SR as you want with the click of a button.
This is what throwing groups do, and many people complain about those.
That encourages smurfing. Blizzard wants smurfs since they are buying the game more. Also most smurfs are a huge issue. If a smurf is at a rank, they most likely are within 500 sr of their own rank. And let me just inform u every smurf u encounter at your rank(1300) is either actually new to the game or not above plat.

nothing wrong with smurfing, there is something wrong with throwing games. my suggestion takes out game throwing
What if Shaquile O’Neal showed up at your parks and started playing basketball, everyone would groan and be mad, except that they got to play with Shaq.
Shaq is allowed to play at the park, so GMs are allowed to play at Bronze. Just get rid of the throwing by allowing GMs to shed SR if they want.
I don’t disagree with yo; however, many people are more concerned about getting rolled by smurfs than they are the Smurfs throwing to derank (as evidenced by the long thread where poeple complain about the deranking groups).
100% this. I’ve faced a couple deranking groups and they were the least fun matches I’ve ever had. In one match they kept us locked in our spawn and never touched the point, I think gold elims was 3. Everytime we walked out of base we were deleted, didn’t matter if we were trickled or worked as a team they would delete us. In another match they simply put up no fight, letting us kill them over and over, the payload barely moving. Matches like these are no fun. The best matches are the ones that end with 1 point difference, where both teams struggled to get every inch. Smurfs discourage this type of game play because 1 Genji will jump in and delete half the team in 5 seconds.

Economics says people will pay for a new account just to be able to play against other people lower skill rating than them, in the effort to feed their ego. People will also throw games in an effort to do that, but they can and do get banned.
It is not a problem at all, people throwing matches is already against the rules and should be reported. There is NO SMURF PROBLEM.

A gm will almost never got play in bronze. A gm playing with their feet would not be placed in bronze. I’m currently leveling up my doomfist account, who is my worst hero ever. I have maybe 1 hour on him max from playing him 2-5 minutes here and there. Through my learning process I’m already facing high plat low diamonds. I barely hit masters every season. If there is a “smurf” in bronze it may very well just be a plat or gold. In that case it’s not an nba player in Amy park, it’s like a decent highschool varsity player would join my game and even then the other team has a chance of winning. And as a bronze, u are least likely to encounter smurfs. Diamond is the worse since decayed gms and most alt accounts end up in diamond. I have faced a couple owl and contenders pros in masters and streamers/youthers I have watched as a bronze show in my games. Almost half my games has a under lvl 100 dps main
It’s not just for ego. A lot of people use alt accounts to practice new characters at an ELO suitable for their skill level so they don’t wreck games.
You are mistaking the park (QP) for Comp (which is competitive.) He MOST CERTAINLY is not able to be in the primary school competitive games.
He would be fined and possibly banned if he tried taking up playing a MUCH lower level then he is able to, to just troll the people down there.
It would be the end of his playing professionally if he did it more than once.
He CAN play in the park, but comp ISN’T the park…
alternate accounts are actually hurting the game and I have an alternate account. If it’s a smurf playing their main well we dont need to go into how they ruin lower elo.
If it’s a diamond mercy learning a dps in silver they are also ruining the ladder cause they have far better positioning game sense etc so they are also problematic. Im ok with a plat on an alternate account in high silver low gold that is fine. But no one has any business 1000+ sr below where they normally play regardless of hero.
As for the smurfs who derank most are just making groups called road to bronze and throwing. So they are just pumping points into gold and above which most teams wont complain about.
The issue is when they decide to start playing seriously again and just destroy people that are learning the game which is a **** move period.

It’s not problematic for someone in silver with good gamesense to be playing, because their mechanic+gamesnes = Silver. That’s why the person is in Silver and not higher or lower.
This is the reason they go for so long without getting banned at low elo.
I used to add throwers before avoid a player came out to queue dodge them and there was this guy who dropped 3k+ sr in 2 days, he told me people stopped reporting him after he hit low gold because people down there are so bad they can’t tell a thrower from one of their own…so bronze players are pretty much all throwers basically.
sounds about right lol. I saw a video of what it’s like in double digit SR (from before they changed it to <500) and when you get that low they can’t hit if you’re standing still, and if you drop off a ledge they forget you exist lol.
