How to report a Boosted player?

Do we do it under cheating, or gameplay sabotage?

Why would you report them? what if they were playing with friends or not boosted in first place! Do you have evidence to back up your claim?

Do the descriptions say? Otherwise I’d say cheating if it’s account sharing

I am asking a general question, not specifically targeting someone. I wanted to know how I’d report someone that I think is a boosted player. Other things such as evidence (Someone that was gold for 5 seasons straight being suddenly GM this season as an example) and such aren’t part of the topic.

Man if that was a reportable offence, a lot of Mercy/reformed Moira mains would be reported…

Boosted as in what? A smurf playing on the account or someone that was boosted and now doesn’t belong in the rank that they’re playing in?

Unless you have some hardcore evidence it’s really impossible.

Just in general, how do you report it? Is it a cheating or gameplay sabotage thing?

I think but not sure, being helped by friends to climb is okay but paying for external services / account sharing is bannable Offence

You can’t really report someone for being boosted. Chances are if they’re in a rank they shouldn’t be in, they’ll drop over time.

If you have no idea how the person attained their rank, all you’re doing is making a false report, which in itself is punishable.

That sounds quite a bit off. a GM skill level tracer can help a historically gold player up to masters and continue to play with them to help that person keep rank, despite that person not generally belonging in that rank.

Granted eventually (Maybe) the gold player will get good enough but as long as they played with someone that helped them stay at the rank they wouldn’t be in a rank they belong in.

Just keep in mind that smurfing is completely ok and doesn’t break anything in Blizzard’s TOS. Yes, it may not be right morally but sometimes people just have a different mindset and are willing to do anything to climb.

This is why I think certain types of reports should be handled in special circumstances. Like if I was to report myself for being boosted I’d word it like…

“This person was normally gold, is suddenly GM this season. I am not saying they are cheating, but it seems pretty suspect and may need to be looked into.” Is much more reasonable than…

“THIS REINHARDT MAIN IS BOOSTED AF BAN HIM OMG HE IS RUINING MY GAMES”

This is one of the things I don’t like about the report system, but since so many people play I understand why it is handled the way it is.

If we’re talking about this specifically I believe it’s not reportable like at all. It’s one thing to prove that someone violated the rules by paying or having someone else play their account to get them to a rank they didn’t belong in.

If we’re talking about friends playing smurf accounts and then queueing with another friend it’s not bannable. Outside of people purposefully deranking or people being paid for services I’ve never seen any smurfs banned.

How do you tell if someone is boosted? How can you tell if that person is just playing with a friend? I did a game when I was in gold with a plat almost 1000 higher than me but it was just a friend. I stopped after 2 rounds because I was just dead weight for my team.

Stop abusing the report system for these silly reasons and leave for actually legitimate stuff like bullying, toxicity, racism, etc.

So you want me banned? Because season 3 I was plat and season 4 I solo queued and worked my booty off that whole season and got super good at the game and I did something amazing and I am able to maintain grand master.

This doesn’t make sense you better make sure that if someone is boosted you don’t go off stats but go off truth

How is circumventing the ranking system by being boosted (in all the ways) abusing the report system?

Also, what does this have to do with the topic?

the problem comes from the climbing (or deranking)… this generally occurs with accounts that had to throw to that rank or account sharing, or stuff to manipulate SR and produce a lot of unfair matches that result in very negative experience to those playing against the booster. Again, not the boosted, the booster.

Maybe I misunderstood. You’re asking how do you report a “boosted” player, right?

A boosted player is one who might not be as good as other people in their rank so they got their by the help of friends and other players carrying them to that higher rank.

Is that what you mean or do you mean people who pay and actually buy other peoples higher ranked accounts?
