How to Remove Res - Heroes Never Die, Mercy

MERCY CHANGE SUGGESTION

  • new Ultimate “Heroes Never Die” - Any teammate attached to Mercy’s heal beam CANNOT DIE for the duration of the Ultimate. Their health can hit 1hp but will not go below unless Mercy releases her beam. (only one character at a time)
  • move Valkyrie from her Ultimate to a cool down Ability
  • remove Resurrection
  • remove damage boost
  • let her use her pistol while having her staff out
  • so either heal or shoot (no more swapping between pistol and staff)

These changes would make Mercy a valuable strong pick while still keeping balance playing with or against her

  • Heroes Never Die voiceline from Mercy will finally make sense
  • Mercy can now save players instead of letting them die / attempting Res
  • Team against Mercy doesn’t feel as oppressed by over powered DPS pocket or undoing their kill every 30sec
  • Mercy’s players don’t have to feel helpless in watching their Team die slowly (by using Ultimate)
  • Raises the skill floor/ceiling of Mercy by making her time her abilities more wisely
  • Mercy can finally use her Pistol without loosing value to the Team (could potentially do quite a bit of consistent damage)

I think this would be good for all of Overwatch, Mercy players, Mercy’s teammates, enemy Team, hero balance, and all ELO ranks

REASON TO CHANGE MERCY
Resurrection has always felt terrible to play AGAINST

If my team spends 3-4 ultimates + many other Abilities to kill one character and confirm them dead, there should not be a way to bring that character back to life. Especially not an Ability that takes one button push on a 30sec cool down.

The fact that Resurrection exists means we have to stand on top of death bodies and save abilities to guard them from Mercy just to try and stop the chance of her Resing.

She might still go Res them anyways and in the lower ELO lobbies, both Mercy and the Resurrected player walk away alive.

The feeling of having the enemy character you just spend all your abilities on getting Resurrected right in front of you makes you want to quit the game more so than any immortality Ability that exists.

Res also promotes pocketing one DPS player that is hard to kill and as long as they don’t die twice in 30sec, they never truly “die”. This is bad for the game because the remainder of the Team goes without help from a second support. It also further frustrates the Enemy Team that has to spend much more attention + Abilities to deal with the over powered DPS player that has a damage/heal pocket Mercy.

I think Res is a good ability for a PVE game, not a competitive PVP.

It can also promote lazy play from both Mercy and the Resurrected character.
“Oops, I died. It’s okay Mercy has Res” or “Oops, I let my Teammate die. It’s okay I have Res to undo my mistake”

Compare that to any of the other supports Abilities and you get a totally different picture.
Ana - Too slow to Nano for damage reduction / burst heal = Teammate dies
Baptiste - Too slow to use Lap = Teammate dies
Brig - Too slow to use Rally = Teammate dies
Kiriko - Too slow to use Susu = Teammate dies
Lucio - Too slow to use Beat = Teammate dies
Moira - Too slow to use Coalescence = Teammate dies
Zen - Too slow to use Transcendence = Teammate dies
Mercy - Too slow to Heal = Oops, Resurrects Teammate and tries again

Yes cuz the overwatch community would just LOVE another immortality ability.

I’d take another Immortality over Res. At least this one would be an Ultimate and not just a cool down Ability

If your team used more then one ult and only killed one person then yeah your team is terrble and Mercy won that rez fairly she waited till your team wasted almost all of your ults and rezzed the only death2, that is terrible playing on your team

no thank you. i dont wanna see damage boost or rez removed or replaced in anyway shape or form.

My guy just posed a 25 second or something immortality for the whole team as a moderate alternative to Resurrect lmao

Yeah a lot of things feel terrible to play against. Doesn’t mean rez isn’t riskier than it’s ever been and it isn’t fair. Just guard dead bodies of key picks or something.

I don’t think Mercy players would want rez gone.

Also, we don’t need more immortality abilities.

Single target only, and I didn’t say a duration. Also doesn’t stop them from taking damage.

If you remove resurection Mercy become useless.

And I believe the CD on resurection is too long. 29 second is a lot in a team fight.

Pocketing is good, I agree but pocketing a DPS or tank as Moira is more effective and you add more dammage boost.

Without resurection, Mercy is just a pocket hero that lost her value.

Think of using 3 Ults + abilities to kill the enemy tank that is getting pocketed / kept alive by their Team. You kill them, then Mercy presses a button to Undo and you and your Team are out of abilities to stop the Res or kill the revived Tank a second time

Thats still a bad play if you need to waste three ults to kill one tank that bad play, i am in low bronze and even i know that, if you can kill a rezxing Mercy that is standing almost complety still that is again bad play from your team

I want a different ultimate, but I don’t want rez removed. I’d like to see the CD reduced to like maybe 20s though.

If a Mercy rezzed, it means you guys backed out too soon and allowed it to happen. During fights I hardly rez if the enemy is nearby and only do so if they’re clearly retreating or all dead. If I do rez during a fight, I know full well it’s a stupid error and I die.

Why is everyone so determined to get rid of rez. It’s fun, powerful and iconic. It’s like the people who are adamant that Mei should be turned into a tank, it’s like they only want to do it for the sake of it. Leave well enough alone.

If Rez was to be removed I would rather see either a good bursty heal or like an AOE Damage Reduction.

So make mercy the female baptiste? This character already exists lmao

I would like to see the dmg boost stats in her dmg column on the tab table tho. Its frustrating to do a 50/50 def/off split and for it to just appear like you’re doing a trash job at healing :confused:

Remove iconic ability for boring budget Bap ability only instead of throwing it out and healing you have to constantly keep healing.

Pay attention to the cooldown and guard downed enemies for 10 seconds.

Honestly, I believe every character should be able to rez by changing the game mechanics to include a “downed” state. Each elimination puts a character in said state allowing a 10 second chance at revival. Interact near a downed ally for 3 seconds to bring them back.

That way Mercy’s specialty could be a faster rez with more life restored, can rez from further distances or has I-frames when reviving an ally (ability has a cooldown)

It allows for more options for unique abilities but i know it won’t happen because “mah, deeps!”

I don’t think Mercy would be useless with an Immortality pocket ability for a short duration. Think of Pharah Ult + Mercy Ult combo. Also having Valk on a cooldown would make her really mobile and increase her healing output
