MERCY CHANGE SUGGESTION
- new Ultimate “Heroes Never Die” - Any teammate attached to Mercy’s heal beam CANNOT DIE for the duration of the Ultimate. Their health can hit 1hp but will not go below unless Mercy releases her beam. (only one character at a time)
- move Valkyrie from her Ultimate to a cool down Ability
- remove Resurrection
- remove damage boost
- let her use her pistol while having her staff out
- so either heal or shoot (no more swapping between pistol and staff)
These changes would make Mercy a valuable strong pick while still keeping balance playing with or against her
- Heroes Never Die voiceline from Mercy will finally make sense
- Mercy can now save players instead of letting them die / attempting Res
- Team against Mercy doesn’t feel as oppressed by over powered DPS pocket or undoing their kill every 30sec
- Mercy’s players don’t have to feel helpless in watching their Team die slowly (by using Ultimate)
- Raises the skill floor/ceiling of Mercy by making her time her abilities more wisely
- Mercy can finally use her Pistol without loosing value to the Team (could potentially do quite a bit of consistent damage)
I think this would be good for all of Overwatch, Mercy players, Mercy’s teammates, enemy Team, hero balance, and all ELO ranks
REASON TO CHANGE MERCY
Resurrection has always felt terrible to play AGAINST
If my team spends 3-4 ultimates + many other Abilities to kill one character and confirm them dead, there should not be a way to bring that character back to life. Especially not an Ability that takes one button push on a 30sec cool down.
The fact that Resurrection exists means we have to stand on top of death bodies and save abilities to guard them from Mercy just to try and stop the chance of her Resing.
She might still go Res them anyways and in the lower ELO lobbies, both Mercy and the Resurrected player walk away alive.
The feeling of having the enemy character you just spend all your abilities on getting Resurrected right in front of you makes you want to quit the game more so than any immortality Ability that exists.
Res also promotes pocketing one DPS player that is hard to kill and as long as they don’t die twice in 30sec, they never truly “die”. This is bad for the game because the remainder of the Team goes without help from a second support. It also further frustrates the Enemy Team that has to spend much more attention + Abilities to deal with the over powered DPS player that has a damage/heal pocket Mercy.
I think Res is a good ability for a PVE game, not a competitive PVP.
It can also promote lazy play from both Mercy and the Resurrected character.
“Oops, I died. It’s okay Mercy has Res” or “Oops, I let my Teammate die. It’s okay I have Res to undo my mistake”
Compare that to any of the other supports Abilities and you get a totally different picture.
Ana - Too slow to Nano for damage reduction / burst heal = Teammate dies
Baptiste - Too slow to use Lap = Teammate dies
Brig - Too slow to use Rally = Teammate dies
Kiriko - Too slow to use Susu = Teammate dies
Lucio - Too slow to use Beat = Teammate dies
Moira - Too slow to use Coalescence = Teammate dies
Zen - Too slow to use Transcendence = Teammate dies
Mercy - Too slow to Heal = Oops, Resurrects Teammate and tries again
