Bree-gee-tuhh? Bree-geet/Bree-jeet? Bridge-it? I know bree-gee-tuhh is canon, but just as Ziegler is commonly mispronounced (Zee-gler, but also Zig-ler), I’m worried there might be differences in how people call it.
check Jephs video on youtubes
Thanks! I appreciate it.
im pretty sure jeff prenounced it wrong in his vid XD
bree-kit-ta
But, in no-time it’ll be pronounced as the usual english pronuncuation, because that’s more straightforward to say for most
He pronounced it wrong, but righter than most others.
Like Vegeta, but minus the Sayian Princes angst at being worse than Goku.
i am p sure there is a leaked conversation between brigitte and reinhardt in wich she tells him how to prenounce her name so thats the one that will be right ig
also atleast its not as bad as people trying to prenounce mercy saying “helden sterben nicht”
Bread-get-it
It’s how I’ll say it until die.
I think you answered your own question.
I say potay-toh, you say Potah-toh, I say bree-gee-tuh, you say bree-gah-toh.
I’m just gonna say it as bridge-it. It’s much simpler that way.
I pronounce her Breegite. Brigitte lindholm.
I still find it strange that none swedish speaking people find it difficult
Didn’t know English-speaking people had so much trouble to pronounce this.
Let’s divide the name into 3 parts:
Bri-git-te
‘Bri’ is pronounced like ‘Bree’ (pronounced like the ‘e’ in the English ABC) or like the ‘ea’ in ‘eat’.
‘git’ well… like ‘git gud’, the ‘G’ is pronounced like in ‘Goal’, again the ‘i’ is pronounced like the English ‘e’ but only very shortly, you don’t say ‘Brigiiiiiiitte’ but just ‘Brigitte’
‘te’ … here the ‘e’ is not pronounced like the English ‘e’ but rather like the 1st ‘e’ in ‘interesting’
But then again it’s probably easier to just hear it and re-speak it. Just go to Google Translate, type in ‘Brigitte’ and switch the translater to German, then hit the ‘Listen’-button.
Watch the origins video? She says it.
It’s a german name in origin, but as a german, only thing I can tell you:
Pronounce it as you want. Many names have a version or are known in different countries and are being pronounced in different ways. Even I pronounce my name in 2 different way, dependent with what kind of people I’m talking.
But if you want the original version:
- Go to google translator
- Write in: Brigitte
- Set it to “german”
- Press the “listen” button so google will read it for you
Actually he pronounced it right, but with a small english accent. It’s not Jeff’s fault that he is not german
Flawless Nice breakdown
Brig-eater
Everyone else’s phonetic don’t help to be honest. If you’re saying that English speakers are having trouble and you don’t understand why, it’s because you’re assuming that there’s something they already know.
Mini-rein.
At least thats what i’m gonna use
Baguette? Idk. Bag wet
Bridge-It. That’s how I spell the name as well. For clarity.
