How to improve when team won't switch to counter?

Down under 1k now. Even when I perform great in my role, support main and I do flex within when being countered. No one else on the team is willing they just keep rushing in with zero strategy, no chance in hell of beating their hard counter. WTF are you supposed to do?

You can’t do much. I just play whatever the hec I want on “competitive”… because of precisely this reason. Not going to waste my time suffering through poor games to get good games. No thank you. I’ll stay on Genji and not switch off just so I have fun

I have been improving my Ana game play, my sleep darts have been on important targets, ults I can control, and my healing accuracy has gotten much better. When the enemy team starts running a harassing play that pushes into the back lines and kills me I swap off to Moira or Brig to counter those people. It does not matter how well I am performing no one will peel so I have to switch. From the streams I have watched with Ana healing 10k plus is not normally attained because the team knows how to position, disengage when being focused and go to the Ana for heals. Yet when I perform above the 10k mark I still lose and drop a ton of SR!!

Here is what I’ve come to realize. It’s all about how EFFECTIVE you are with your team. Sometimes I’ll play Genji and get tons of kills but still lose. The difference between you and I getting kills vs. a grandmaster player getting kills is the fact that the grandmaster get the RIGHT kills at the RIGHT TIME. That’s the key to ranking up

So I just had a game as Ana where the Reaper and I communicated and paired our Ults which resulted in great game play, I slept Moira during Ult, Rein when he got boosted, etc. all while maintaining great healing position. They never tried to counter me, yet we still lost. There comes a point when your gameplay feels tight, you are hitting it just right and still get pwned. Then the next few games I feel as thought I get paired with doorknob humpers who have no clue what WASD do. Feeling beat down.

Do not flex in bronze, play high impact hero’s, get good at them and you’ll climb

I get that, I really do. I most only flex between Moira, Mercy if we need the rez, Lucio, and Ana. I love being a support, it is what I have always defaulted to in EVERY game, a healer. It just seems as though I need to be a Plat player to carry the remainder of the team so i can climb out of elo hell.

Plat is such a terrible place to be unfortunately… very lopsided games due to the corruption of smurf accounts.

Yeah, don’t get me wrong. In low tiers, most games are still lost due to horrible teammates. So I feel you… what I said only applies to long-term scenario. On a day-to-day basis, the game is a complete crapshoot designed to waste time

You’re not doing great. If you were, you wouldn’t be <1000. My advice is here:

Bronze - Sliver - Gold ranking guide.

Note that one of the suggestions is to flex less. Be a master of few heroes, not a fool at many.

Dude when your team won’t flex to take care of Pharah there is nothing I can do. It is either I heal as Ana or I take of Pharah. I get it I am the master of my own destiny but how the fuk am I suppose to carry 5 as a healer? How can I have gold healing, pulling bronze on damage, obj. kills and kills? WTF is the dps doing? WTF is the tank doing? I am healing my balls off and doing everything that is listed on all the god damn guides that have been linked yet this is a team game, where is the TEAM?

Use cover to avoid the pharah. Win the ground war. If pharah comes in close (because she can’t see you because of the cover) kill her (with your support hero, I use Zenyatta, but any support can work if she is close enough and your aim is good enough).

I agree with this statement in terms of pure SR climb, the problem is everyone in bronze has this mentality – despite the different skill levels people actually possess. Every single game today has had 5-6 DPS. Obviously, we can’t win with no heals or a tank or a shield on defense. This attitude works if everyone else is willing to flex, but when everyone has this attitude of “I have to carry” it also breeds toxicity.

You can’t. Simple as that.

Hide and meanwhile that Pharah decimates half of your teammates gone rouge

I went from 900 sr to 2300 sr in 1 day without losing a single game on my smurf. I played mainly pharah.

Bronze players are literally the worst players in the game, no offence. Do not rely on them if YOU have done your homework on how the game works. You need to make the biggest impact possible to win. You do not need the perfect team comp to win a bronze match. I know because I auto locked dps all the way from the slums on bronze to plat.

Practice your aiming and then dps ana. And heal when someone is doing good in a fight. Balance is the key but if you land all your shots both scoped and unscoped you win. Most Ana players even up to plat dont know how to play with her unscoped. If you’re mid range dont scope and if you’re a bit farther scope but try to play unscoped as much as possible at your current sr. Scope situations dont happen till at least gold. Nevertheless learn to aim. Look up sensisitivy guides and just practice on bots until you are at least 50% consistant accuracy on both unscoped and scoped. Landing shots will get you out, not relying on your team.

currently sitting at 45% scoped and un-scoped.

Dude… people will tell you all sorts of garbage but there is not a whole lot you can do except try if your whole team is garbage. I could THROW on your team… not any amount of trying will win you the game. How is that YOUR fault if I throw the game? Why should YOU take the SR loss?

There’s always a smurf…

Let me guess, you didn’t record it either? :joy:
