This is a question for Blizzard, how can you actually get POTG with Mercy and other support heroes. Lucio can knockout an entire team of the map, Ana can snipe/nade kind of fast.
I’m just tired of watching Genji POTGs and the “highlight intros” are useless for heroes like Mercy.
i honestly thing the POTG algorithm is tuned to give genjis their juice every match because they whipped out a 5 meter long stick and whacked a few people with it. that said i have seen Mercys get potg occasionally in the past few months
I do not want to be a party pooper, but getting a POTG with Ana is almost impossible too
In a game i got a 4k Monkey ult Mercy got potg for damage boosting me then rezing Genji on Illios Well
I have only gotten one… when I was smurfing. I am technically a gold Ana, but I have the mechanics of a diamond. So it was basically unearned.
Rez someone who makes a big play.
My latest potg was rezing a Junkrat who landed a 3 man tire in overtime.
The way you get POTG as Mercy is wait for a DPS to get their ultimate (preferablly an easy one like maybe Reaper) and when they die, say “Ima Rez u and then use ult immediately” which will sometimes give you POTG instead of them since you Rez and get like 5 assists within 7 seconds.
I did something like this a year ago when Mercy still had an insta-res… ult’d, flew to Reaper who died on the point, caused an overtime with a 99 v 99, Reaper ulted and I boosted, but Reaper got potg for his ult killing everyone. xD
I still think Ana POTGs are basically unicorns, but getting play as those 2 supports is still hard since it’s easy to get the spotlight stolen, be it environmental kills to a 2k ult

You get POTG as Mercy by resurrecting somebody in Valkyrie and then landing 3 simultaneous heals. Even better is if you follow that healing by pistoling a squishy from their backline. These are about 90% of the Mercy POTGs I’ve seen, but if somebody gets a 4k then you’re probably not getting the POTG because Mercy is a sustainable dedicated healer so there’s nothing that can outburst some plays.
The POTG system is built around DPS/Killing for the most part, with environmental kills being weighed higher.
If you want POTG, use valk and go pop some heads.
The number of times I’ve seen a legit Ana potg in comp is maybe once. Qp, maybe three times. So for Ana’s benefit, I’d like to see the algorithm changed a little on what is defined as a play of the game
The POTG makes the DPS think they are actually more important than Supports and Tanks
I do have some POTG’s with the current Mercy but I have to put them on YT

Supports in general can’t get POTG very often, unless it’s a Lucio booping everyone off the map or Moira/Zen going full battle mode.
Tanks too, but to a lesser extent. (I actually think i’ve never seen an Orisa POTG)
Resurrect someone than have that person get a quad kill shortly after being rezzed, it gives the 4 kill+ to the Mercy who initiated it.
Valkyrie + Battle Mercy + People whining you didn’t do your job as your healer + Your tears of joy laughing at them = Mercy POTG.
I got one by getting a Nanoboost + Supercharger combo.
I remember once when Sombra was new, I bought her Hacking highlight intro and yoinked POTG from an Ana
I don’t think they ever recovered.
