How to get out of bronze?

So, i am currently bronze, went to silver as Pharah but didn’t stay long there, my aim isn’t good but isn’t terrible either, i am currently trying to main reinhardt and i plan to switch to dps when i get to silver, i’m good at Pharah,Zarya, D .Va, Reaper, Orisa, Winston,Lucio, and obviously i can play heroes like Symmetra, Junkrat, Torbjörn, Mercy, Moira, Brigitte, Bastion, so i try to flex a lot, but it still seems hard to rank up when my team isn’t doing great, so my point is, how to win regardless of my team ?

I’m also stuck in Bronze. I feel like I’m more skilled than that, but then again maybe not. Most of my teams have no mic’s, and I’m the only one who’s talking. They use TYPE CHAT TO COMMUNICATE. Ik what you’re going through. What i’d reccomend is talk to your team, be positive, choose the heroes you’re best with (if you can), and just pray.

the problem is, i don’t have a mic, so i try to hear my team for information and to be helpful when ulting depending on my role, but this isn’t enough apparentlyhh

The SR/MMR system is imperfect. They revise it all the time, but I’ll say I’m not a huge fan either. I played season 1 and quit shortly after it started because all my LFG teams were horrible. I just wasn’t in the mood to climb out of it. I came back this season, went 5-5 in placements and have a 1200ish SR. I’m guessing I started at the bottom since I have no season 2-10 ratings. It’s annoying.

They really need to have a win / loss ratio designation too. It’s relevant.

Not at easy task this PVP thing, from a dev perspective.

Mouse acceleration off and use an edpi of around 3000 to 5000(edpi is your dpi times your sense)

i went 1/9 and was placed at 1202, I haven’t touched it since. How in the world did you go 5/5 and get placed as low as I did? This seems arbitrary to be honest…who can even figure this system out?

Performance matters more than W/L, I went 5/5 and dropped because I wasn’t performing at that level.

I was in Bronze for 6 Seasons; people who are there are there for a reason. No one is “stuck” and you don’t need a mic to rank up.

bronze, silver, gold. play only in premade groups of 5. u will climb to gold for no other reason than because there will not be room for a feeder on your team while enemy teams will get feeders

Look to be totally honest, if you’re in bronze then its most likely because your skill level is there. I am not having a go at your skill or the way you play as you’re most likely a casual gamer like most people, the people in diamond+ are doing research and practicing for ages with their heroes along with partying with a mate or whatever.
I would recommend practicing only a few heroes, maybe 2 from each class and just getting really good at them. If you are more skilled than your enemy you should climb, especially in bronze-gold where people are not that aware and coordinated.
I can give you two personal examples:
1st account it was bronze, I one tricked ana and just dpsed/healed with her and took it up to around 2800sr.
2nd account was high silver and I just locked doomfist and got it to around 2700sr.

If put in the time to a few heroes and really get good at them then you honestly dont need much team work at the lower sr as you will just out play the other team.

If you go onto youtube and watch Kabaji who is a rank 1 tracer main, he is doing a series rn where he bought a new account and is literally filling and seeing how high he can get sr wise. He gives a crap tonne of tips in each game about what the team should be doing along with himself in each hero he plays. I think it would help build awareness/gamesense by having a look. He is one of the best players on the ladder and would assist you guys a lot.

This system is simple. - Here’s my thoughts.

First point for anybody that needs to know is that your initial first placements that you ever do (after just hitting level 25) is based on your QP performance.

That’s not how many wins and losses you get, but it’s your stats. it’s your aim, it’s your healing, its your kills, it’s how many enemies you slept with ana, it’s how many environmental kills you get with lucio, it’s how many firestrike kills you get with rein.

There’s a reason these stats are shown, and it’s because you are being marked on them.

So best advice for QP. play one hero the whole of level 1 through 25, get good with them, get some solid stats. Don’t try and flex, don’t try heroes just for fun because it’s QP. Do that AFTER you’ve placed.

Filling is bad. Flexing is bad, until you’re understanding of the game is good and you are solid at your current rank. It is unlikely you can play even 2 heroes at the same level let alone 4,5,6.

“grinding” is the process of being at a rank and working your way up. The game TRIES to give you a 50% win rate when you’re peaking, so if you’re not climbing much or you’re losing more SR for a loss than you’re gaining for a win, you’re probably as high as you’re gonna get unless you put some real time and effort into getting better at the game.

“but my team throws, there are trolls bla bla”

It doesn’t matter. You’re being marked on your stats overall, not the final win/lose.

If you do reall well every game, regardless of if you win or lose, you should lose only a little SR and gain a lot if you’re outplaying your team mates.

It doesn’t matter if you have a torb, sym and bastion on attack. If you’re a good healer, you will still heal them.

This concludes the reason that if you do 10 placement matches and win all 10, why some people still get placed bronze and some get placed GM, as your overall performance sets you in a certain rank regardless of win/loss

Damn it. This is what I’m doing wrong. I haven’t slept with anyone from this community…

Just teasing bro, it’s good advice to not use your teammates as an excuse for being at your rank.

It was my first time doing Placement Matches, and I had 4-5-1. During the placements, I was regularly going against Diamond-level and High Platinum players. Dropped back down to Gold when toxic players threw the matches on my team, when I was placed into teams with zero comms, and/or too much negativity impacted my overall performance.

Got placed in 2334 SR in Gold rank. I guess I’m good if I have had relatively little time invested into the game? Anyways. I’m here to debunk something:

  • With each win after my placements, I’ve been going up about 60-100 SR.
  • With each loss, down 40-50 SR.

I have no idea why. If I had to guess, my SR is definitely being impacted by performance, though.

don’t try to get out of bronze, try to get better. work on your mechanics, watch coaching videos, tutorials, practice things like skill combos until you nail them every time, etc.

the rank increases naturally then

I’d also recommend recording your own gameplay to coach yourself and doing some self-evaluation as you play as well at times as it can help prevent you from repeatedly making the same mistakes.

If you say you’re a good Winston, take him and climb.

He’s not anywhere near as dependent on support or healers as some of the other tanks.

You’ll do lousy against Turret heavy defenses but otherwise you can go in, kill a squishy or two, disengage to go get health packs. Find a different angle, repeat.

I’ve won games where literally one other player and I killed the entire enemy team while the other 4 stood outside the choke.

hahaha. i go off on a tangent and rarely proof-read my posts

It was perfectly understandable. I cheated and cut off the rest of your sentence :stuck_out_tongue:

yeeee bois i am on silver now, zarya best carry

you play for 4000 hrs, eventually you will climb because there are so many trolls feeders and useless players that the chances are simply in your favor to climb off of enemy throws alone. 6 chances your opponent has a feeder, 5 chances you do. its not about skill its about sinking your entire life into the game
