How to Fix the Cheating Problem

So the issue with Cheating in OW2 is that when banned cheaters just buy or make new accounts. I have a simple solution that would help aid the epidemic.

Stop banning cheaters. This results in them just making new accounts. Each ban wave the amount of cheaters is around the same meaning its largely repeat offenders. Instead put them in a hidden bracket or que for cheaters. They only play against and with other cheaters.

This will waste cheaters time and some of them may never catch on. More effective than bans. They’ll still climb but the rank is lowkey meaningless and won’t impact normal ladder at least then. Right now banning only results in a new account lol. Of course exclude these people in this ladder from top 500 leaderboard and instead of the next ban wave just quietly add them all to an exclusive cheaters que.

Also it might teach them a lesson of what it feels like. This is overly optimistic but perhaps they could learn empathy lol.

that is actually a good tactic because then they never know whats actually going on and blizzard can still make them feel good into buying stuff.

a shadow q for cheaters would be effective.

Yeap they get to cash out on these players without them disrupting the main game. Keeps them on their toes and today 99% of cheaters are using soft cheats. It will take them all quite some time to figure it out if ever lol. Might even make them rage quit instead of the other way around where they make legit players rage quit lol.

actually no ban cheaters but ban them at a hardware level if its confirmed they was actually cheating like ive been accused of cheating of which i wasnt usually cheating is a EULA violation

Most cheats these days have built-in Hardware spoofing. Hardware bans don’t work anymore. Banning them isn’t working clearly. We need a new strategy, and I think my suggestion above actually changes the playing field.

ive been accused of stuff again but warden can bypass that stuff as warden runs at a kernal level and can bypass software

Yes it is. As they would find out about it once, then it’s common knowledge amongst the people you don’t want to have that knowledge.
And then before you know it, there will be a check to see if you are on this list with many (if not all) cheats going forward.

The issue is that because its server side it wouldn’t be detectable by an cheat. It would be players “best guess” which still deters them for quite some time and the dumbest among them forever. Which with cheaters is a good portion of them. The list also wouldn’t be public. It would be a server side flag tied to your account of which Blizzard already has many you likely aren’t aware of and cannot be accessed via the game client. At worst its still better than the current system. Also Blizzard shouldn’t make this knowledge public. As long as they don’t these cheaters will just assume their MMR is so good they only play against other cheaters and their cheat dev really did create a undetectable cheat. As long as they do that the game is over for cheaters.

Accusations don’t result in bans for cheating. Unless you cheat you won’t be getting banned. The issue with cheats is they often demand a similar level of system access and can spoof the data sent to even kernel level anti-cheats. A lot of cheaters also have second computers that run the cheat and just inject input into the gameplay pc. This is part of why we need a clever and undetectable solution like I propose above.

TBH I’m not entirely unconvinced they dont already do this, and all the people on the forums complaining about having 8 cheaters per match are actually themselves cheating and being put in the cheating queue.

This is a solution, but it will never happen because Blizzard uses cheaters against players through a rigged algorithm designed to make people lose games and maintain a 50% win rate based on EOMM. Algorithm knows exactly who is cheating, that’s why they are completely ignoring the cheating problem.

I do NOT lose games unless the enemy team is stacked with cheaters. Thats why its so frustrating when you know they ARE cheating and there is nothing you can do, despite your skill level and experience.

'i wish they already did do this but they don’t. There is a pretty strong presence of cheaters in OW rn and you can feel that population drop after a ban wave then rise right back up. Unfortunately that leads me to believe they are just using ban waves.

Playing against cheaters does suck. I’ve even won against some! I always hit them with the line of “imagine paying to still lose”. I win for free :sunglasses:

Only real solution is cloud gaming, you could do some cheating, but it is so much more difficult and it limits what you can do

There isn’t a cheating epidemic in the first place. Stop blaming external factors for you not being able to win games

500,000 Cheaters were banned in the last ban wave. 166 players in top 500 were banned for cheating. Keep in mind those are just the ones that got caught. Which in reality is probably less than half of the real cheating population due to Overwatches damn near non-existent anti-cheat. I’m literally high elo lol I win plenty. That doesn’t change the fact that cheating is objectively a large issue per blizzards own data. I also win againt cheaters fairly often. Once you know someone is cheating you can play around it. That being said its a real problem. I used to coach the minor league Buschnell University team as well. Your opinion is false and is like low tier rage bait. If it isn’t you need to have some self reflection.

Cloud gaming defintely would help but its not ideal for fast paced games like OW. In the meantime the solution I propose works better than what we have.

I think is doable, not for every country, which again limits the use case.
I don’t know how prevalent cheating is, but if the Tarkov scandal taught me something: Things can be much worse than they seem

500000, and how many of those were alts? The topic of your post is literally how cheaters create alts to continue once banned…

I have over 10 alts. A cheater would likely easily have 20+. Meaning that 500000 individual cheaters weren’t banned. Running with the number 20, only 25000 individual people were banned. In a game with millions of players.

No you’re not, you’re unranked. If you’re going to lie, private your profile.

I realize this likely isn’t the case, but it sure would explain a lot of the people on the forum, tbh.

Its not doable in the USA thats for sure. Its basically third world country speeds in some places lol. Even Portland Oregon has god awful internet in most of it lol.

Yeap. A lot of people just write them off as smurfs or high elo players but there are tells.

Probably a good few. That being said Alts that are banned don’t get banned again and again lol. Think logically here. That being said its still a substantial portion of the player base. Certainly not a fraction of matches like some people will tell you lol

Why? Is that not a bit of a red flag to you as a player?

For the most part most players have 1 account. I’m willing to bet most cheaters run with a single account as well until they get banned then make another. A few alts here and there sure though.

You’ll have to forgive me for not being high elo every single season lmao. I just didn’t play ranked in this one. I’ve been playing Stadium which I’ve hit All-Star on on two accounts one with a 100% WR on lmao. This account being one of them and I have a post of the forums with proof. Skipped playing ranked this season to enjoy Stadium which is also a ranked gamemode! I was going to go for legend but I’ve been working OT at work and I want to still spend IRL time with family and friends. Next season though! Weak attempt to discredit me lol. Also you’ve got nothing better to do than to be a willy online at 5:30pm on the phone. Wild. Also rich coming from someone with a private profile themselves lol.

I think there are a lot of cheaters on the forum tbh lol.

How do we know this person is a cheater? I’ve seen some posts about it but I haven’t seen any proof myself just people accusing them.

Also PepeHanz When someone attemps to view your profile it says “Page not found” Are you banned?

Hmmm I can’t say I know. I tried logging onto the game just now and the game is still playable.
