How to Escape Elo Hell Guide

Making this to double down on my last post for the funny!

Are you hardstuck? Do you have incompetent lobotomites on your team? Don’t worry, this guide is for you!

  1. Underestimate your teammates
They are there for a reason, and you can’t rely on them to save you. Leave them be! You’re a much better player who is meant for greatness. It’s best to approach your games with a mentality that they won’t serve you much purpose and that it is your role to carry the backpack to the finish line. The carry mentality is the best mentality.

  2. Mute coms/vc in any rank below Diamond
Below Diamond is where you see the most situations where the Dunning Kruger effect takes place. Bad players think they’re good, and lots of finger-pointing/victim mentality ruins the spirit of the match. Especially if you’re not thick-skinned, it is best to mute everyone for your own sake, until you reach masters.

  3. Play “independent” characters
Let’s speculate a bit. Suppose you play tank and go rein. You don’t get much heals from your support buffoons, and huff your copium. And you know what? That might be true! Perhaps its not wise to play characters that rely on others. Heroes that can heal themselves and have burst damage tend to perform better if you’re trying to solo carry.

Here are my favorites for each role:

    DPS: Reaper, Soldier,

    Tank: Roadhog

Support: Very Aggressive Lucio (reddit style), DPS moira, Zen

  4. Play like the carry
It’s a tough task to be a carry when just going with the flow. Be unpredictable. Take aggressive flanks, punish the scoped in ana out of position. If you’re playing a flanker, kill the mercy coming back from spawn, then go to your team. Yes, sometimes spawn camping is a good strat, assuming you return to your team. In conclusion, be aggressive! It pays dividends in the lower ranks.

  5. CONGRATS!! You are officially climbing. Give yourself a pat on the back

Looks like post ran out of juice ?

Im not surprised lol

Good don’t try to troll the community or this happens next time.

Ah, okay. I see how it is. Giving solutions is trolling now. That’s your prerogative, I know I’m right anyway. Have a day.

Here have a cookie now.

If this post weren’t so condescending, folks might actually get something out of it. Pity. I’d bet this gets flagged eventually from some hardstuck forumer.

Self-sufficient heroes is a super interesting topic and concept to me. There are heroes that are like that in this game, in every role. I think folks would disagree on who exactly.

I may actually make a post about that

… Naw, y’all will figure it out

Is dead on arrival. OP needs a vacation.

###1. Underestimate Your Teammates

Contradiction:
Underestimating your teammates is detrimental to team synergy. Overwatch 2 is a team-based game, and effective collaboration often leads to victory. If you disregard your teammates and try to carry solo, you miss out on coordinated plays, which are crucial in both offense and defense.

Better Approach:
Communicate and support your teammates. Identify their strengths and weaknesses and adapt your playstyle to complement them. Positive reinforcement and constructive feedback can boost team morale and performance. Trust in your team and work together to achieve common goals.

2. Mute Comms/VC in Any Rank Below Diamond

Contradiction:
Muting communication cuts off valuable information. Even in lower ranks, effective communication can turn the tide of a match. While toxicity can be an issue, learning to navigate and contribute to team comms positively is a critical skill for climbing ranks.

Better Approach:
Use communication strategically. Mute only those who are consistently toxic, but keep the lines of communication open with teammates who provide valuable callouts and strategies. Encourage constructive discussions and focus on in-game information rather than personal attacks.

3. Play “Independent” Characters

Contradiction:
While it’s true that some heroes are more self-reliant, Overwatch 2’s meta often favors team synergy over individual prowess. Playing solely “independent” characters can limit your flexibility and effectiveness in various team compositions.

Better Approach:
Choose heroes that fit the team composition and current match needs. Flexibility is key in Overwatch 2. Sometimes, playing a hero that synergizes well with your team (even if they rely more on teamwork) can lead to better outcomes. Understanding different roles and switching when necessary shows a higher level of skill and game awareness.

4. Play Like the Carry

Contradiction:
Aggressive and unpredictable play can lead to frequent deaths and missed opportunities for your team. Overwatch 2 rewards smart, coordinated aggression rather than reckless solo plays. Spawn camping and overly aggressive flanking can often leave your team at a disadvantage.

Better Approach:
Balance aggression with team play. Be aggressive when the situation calls for it, but always prioritize staying alive and supporting your team. Effective aggression involves calculated risks, awareness of enemy positions, and timing your plays to coincide with your team’s pushes.

5. CONGRATS!! You Are Officially Climbing

Contradiction:
Following the above flawed advice may not lead to consistent climbing. True climbing involves constant learning, adapting to the evolving meta, and improving both individual skills and teamwork.

Better Approach:
Reflect on each game, identify mistakes, and learn from them. Focus on improving both your mechanical skills and game sense. Watch higher-ranked players, review your gameplay, and seek advice from more experienced players. Climbing is a gradual process that rewards consistent improvement and adaptability.

Conclusion ::heart::+1:

In conclusion, while the initial advice might sound appealing to someone frustrated with their teammates or current rank, it is ultimately counterproductive in the team-based environment of Overwatch 2. Prioritize teamwork, effective communication, flexibility in hero choice, balanced aggression, and continuous learning to truly improve and climb the ranks in Overwatch 2.

No way you used Chat GPT to write this. I’ll read it later but Im probably gonna disregard it since I don’t believe an AI program has better game knowledge

It is a research tool. You best be prepared dwelling on forums or this happens to you next.

Challenge it then.

Coaching, Commitment, Sacrifice

It’s too much to ask for them to come up with their own response :pensive:

I love to comm with people I know, but not with randoms. There are so many players that are consistently toxic. I’m not going to waste time muting every toxic player. If I have to mute 2-3 players every other match, then I might as well just turn it all off and my rank can suffer accordingly.

No need to pump this dead thread.

How to escape elo hell: Actually get better at the game. Don’t just throw in hundreds (or like some degens thousands) of hours of gameplay acting like you’ll just get better by doing the same thing again and again. You won’t. The effort to play the game is not actual effort. You need effort beyond that to get better and then do it for hundreds of hours at that level. And maybe get rid of that razer-ahh keyboard and the logitech mouse from last decade and get some real gear on your table or at least upgrade to the superlight
