How to effectively earn OWL tokens

For this guide I will show you how to setup for watching and earning OWL tokens on Youtube only.

I am mostly making this in response to the backlash of the new Ana skin. Making me realize that not many know how to properly earn tokens, nor does OWL make it very clear how to do so. Which I’ll admit is either done purposely or the result of poor communication. So as someone who casually earns a good amount of tokens, I figured I could help address the confusion.

Step 1: Link your YouTube account to your Battle.net account

First things first, you will need to link your Youtube account to your Battle.net account in order to actually receive tokens. Blizzard has made an official guide on it here:

However it is really just the same as how you link anything else to your Youtube account.

During a match you can check if you are connected via the tiny diamond logo near the like bar:

If it says “CONNECTED” you are good to go.

Step 2: Your links

Next I would save these two links somewhere convenient.

This is really the only link you need. It is the best way to watch OWL matches and it even tells you of any upcoming matches.

Matches that are currently live will also be displayed on the front page of the channel:

This is not needed but it does come in handy. It displays every match in the summer season allowing you to accurately plan if you are on a time budget.

Step 3: Setup

Honestly all you need is a browser for the setup. Though a good internet connection also helps. Basically just open up the match link in your browser and leave it be. Does not matter which browser you use or if it has to be in your current one. Running it in a separate browser works too.

On a side note, if you do enjoy watching OWL matches fully I would bring in popcorn or Doritos and Mountain Dew while you are watching. They typically last seven hours so bringing snacks is a fun idea.

Step 4: Watch

There you go, you are ready to earn OWL tokens. Feel free to alt tab out or watch the match as you see fit.

Also you can alt tab out and leave it running in the background, that still counts as you watching. However keep in mind having it paused does not count as watching. Yes you can even play video games while it is active. As long as the stream is progressing in your browser this counts as you watching.

Additional notes:
Watching OWL matches on YouTube seems to be more reliable than watching it on OWL’s official site. Which has a habit of not calculating tokens properly along with connection problems. While you can earn tokens via OWL’s official site I would personally not recommend it, unless the match can only be watched there.

Well that is it, let me know how you feel about this or if I made some kind of mistake.

Thank you for this. Not sure why there was so much backlash for this particular skin. Widow and mei both also just had skins released. Why is this one so controversial?

From what I have seen most people generally do not like it’s design. Which then branches off to discussions about its price point or token grind.

Personally I like the look of the skin and do not feel earning OWL tokens are unfair.

Yeah this is easily one of my favourite Ana skins tbh. The Gold gun looks amazing. Thanks for the tips!

New website format helps tons. It shows you all the times of the matches based on where you are and what days including encores. And it shows all this without even having to go on the schedule page. Whatever page you’re on it shows the times of the matches at the top of the screen.

Yeah, but not all countries can earn OWL tokens

May be a little bias because I’m an Ana main, but I think it’s one of the better OWL skins.

I don’t have ana’s gold gun but I feel that by just looking at it this skin looks better without the gold gun though opinions are opinions

Hello , I never get any reward from the Overwatch League finals, please help me recheck it.All normal except the finals.
