As lifeweaver you want to always bee shooting as much as possible so lets go over how I dps effectively as weaver.
-
Baiting out cool downs, if you are in coms and say there’s a dva or orisa in front of you you can use your entire clip but twll the rest of your team to stop firing or to “Tap fire” for dca you want to do this as soon as you get a good view on her lifeweavers throns hurt and if to many hit her shes gonna euther try to eat them or run away. Go for headshots on orisa.
-
Remember you are assistant damage like shield break if there’s a rein shield you have to options try and find value in other spots so he gets less value from his shield, orrrr ping his shield and focus fire, if you find yourself in a position where you can freely shoot the tank always go for headshots.
-
Lifeweaver has to be in close to get better value from his damage get your tank to play aggressive the closer you are the more dangerous he gets there are things you can do from far away but primarily you want to get close.
-
But what if you are far away? You want to just create a “Danger” area “Im gonna shoot left y’all shoot right” the entire left lane will be cut off unless they want throns in the body.
-
When you have tree of life get your entire team to get hyper Aggresive, just dps away pop tree when anyone gets low and bam.
You need to be shooting as much as humanly possible as weaver and Remember always go for the melee.
As far as using dash goes don’t just use it when you take damage use only when you have absolutely no choice.
If your close to someone and your missing a lot of shots just keep meleeing
Its like a good what 30+12?
Two issues with this.
-
The gun sucks. You have to spray and pray with it hoping someone walks into the thorns or sits still long enough to get melted.
-
If you change your attention to healing, you still need to charge the dang heal to heal a teammate, unless you want to waste a Lifegrip doing this overaggressive style.
I may need to try your method, but in theory, none of that should work.
I do not see this playstyle working, but it is remeniscent of BOGUR’s playstyle, the first Lifeweaver GM in history.
He uses thorn volley a lot! But even he says, do not depend on Lifeweaver’s dps.

This is the issue I run into as well the main problem is this game favors damage A LOT damage will always out weight healing. Thats why from far away I say use them more as a pressure and get your team to shoot where your not shooting. So even if the execution of his healing is lack luster to some you just have to deal with it, heck I’ll leave people 50 hp just so I can continue to dps and hope my other support heals them.
Lol I like how bogur didn’t even realize why his lifeweaver was working more then anyone elses… And hay someone might have ideas for his gun better then mine, I end most of my games with 2k or even 3 to 4k damag
Yeah sure it’s harder to get value out of his dps compared to other supports that does not change the fact THAT YOU NEED TO BE SHOOTING! Its why that reload nerf is so painful because even if you want to mix healing and dpsing as you should be your punished for using his kit appropriately because you won’t have enough ammo.
Lifeweaver works on sombra logic “I don’t need big numbers if there dead” if your healing your heal botting your just stalemating.
His heals don’t even work appropriately for you to be heal botting every second your wasting charging a healing blossom on a kax hp target is a second A you could of been doing damage or B your other support could of got that ult charge and still continue to do there job (because they don’t have a annoying charge time).
Lifeweaver is a off support at best even lucio can reach 10k healing. Heck even using my style I STILL REACH 10K HEALING there was a game I had 4k damage and 10k healing.
That required me to mix his healing and dps absolutely perfectly. It’s more rhat as weaver I’m waiting for specific moments to where healing would absolutely outweigh damageing.
I won’t even pay you any attention unless I notice your using a defensive cool down, a cool down just got used on you, or I’m trying to pocket you through a duel but even then I’m proooobabbllly just gonna start shooting.
I’ll give it shot.
Reminds me of why I focus so heavily on DPSing on my Moira. Which…fyi the best Moiras are more dps orientated then the healbot ones. So dps Moira is a viable strategy.
There is something so satisfying being able to balance both dps and healing numbers ending the game with both those as the highest values.
What I could try is choking points with those thorns. The slower projectile speed and constant stream makes it great for plugging up chokes or spraying across areas to get dps in.
Just I find the issue of the low dps not sticking a big issue.
Just me getting a ton of sticks and seeing barely 2k is just a really sour taste.

There is some stuff I’m still researching like just how effective am I at shooting a rein shield? Cause I can hit every single thron into it, but like am I doing it fast enough? Do I need to be closer?
Should I be shooting the tank while my team shoots everyone else?
I know I need to be shooting torb turrets thats why they gave him that weird ammo buff cause he was always a bit off.
I perfectly understand his damage is considered ineffective but I wanna know just "How"ineffective it is? If Im right ontop of a signa shield or if Im in a dvas face (with my tank of course) just how effective am I at scaring that person with my damage?
Because his damage dosen’t have fall off anyways, so is me being up close just as effective as being far away? Or do I get more damage put being up close even with reloading?
Okay, a couple of things with this. Your points are valid, but don’t you worry - I’ve got some workarounds.
First off, with using Thorn Volley and then having to swap to healing. Is it clunky? Yes. Can it be obnoxious in the middle of a team fight? Absolutely. However, something Lifeweaver has that the game doesn’t tell you is that, unlike Mercy or Torbjorn, Healing Blossom doesn’t need to finish it’s Weapon swap animation before you can charge a Healing Blossom. You can continue firing Thorn Volley and swap to Healing Blossom whilst charging a Blossom during the weapon swap animation. So, while you’re firing Thorn Volley, press and hold your Healing Blossom binding and this will swap and immediately begin charging a Healing Blossom before your weapon is technically drawn. You can’t fire the projectile until the animation ends, but, by that point, you’ve got a freely charged 75 HP projectile ready to go anyway. Which is better than having to swap, charge and then fire. You can also charge a Healing Blossom whilst using all of Lifeweaver’s other abilities, bar the Tree of Life. Even if Lifeweaver lowers his hand, you can still charge the projectile.
Secondly, with Thorn Volley - Yes, it is very much spray and pray. But that’s why you should be moreso focusing your damage to be suppressing fire, rather than dealing damage upfront. Since his buffs, Thorn Volley now does a nasty amount of damage, if the enemy sits there and takes it, seeing it as ‘Support damage’, so a lot of players have learnt to try and stay out of its line of fire, if they’re not the likes of Zarya, D.Va or Genji who can simply ignore it without even thinking about it. As Thorn Volley doesn’t have any falloff, you can just spray it down a choke point, at a Sniper etc. And deny a lot of value, even if you’re not actually hitting anything. Otherwise, use it’s tightened spread and 0 fall off to your advantage and instead prioritise pressuring Tanks, as their big hit boxes make it hard to avoid anyway and can force cooldowns like Orisa’s Javelin Spin very easily, given her large Crit Box, and focusing barriers and constructs. Your long range damage makes it really easy to do this, unless the enemy Torb is married to his turret, which let’s your dps focus on taking the enemy dps out without the annoyance of being hammered by the little turret loving gremlin.
Tl;dr:
-
Healing Blossom can be charged during it’s Weapon swap animation, and whilst using all of Lifeweaver’s kit bar the Tree of Life
-
Thorn Volley should be used as suppressing fire, or as a way to easily and reliably bait out cooldowns or deal with constructs and barriers
