I usually play lucio or roadhog but now wanted to try few DPS heroes, so am playing doomfist and sombra since i like them. Now before making any assumptions i am only trying in quick play to learn. This is not any complain post or anything, even if there is a Moira in my team i see them making a lot of kills.
I feel her attack range is just too high and even if i go near her she just phases out and continues her attack. As a sombra its impossible for me to hack her since the moment she sees me she does damage with her attack…And damn her ult… its just too long and i have to hide somewhere for the time being.
Doomfist: Bait fade with rocket punch, cancel, combo her as soon as she comes out. If you get the drop on her you can often destroy her before she has the chance to react too.
Sombra: If you can’t hack her, either stay away or proceed to get on your knees and wait to be transported to the respawn room. I’d probably stay away though until you can hack her off guard.

You kinda picked the short end of the stick in terms of DPS heroes. Doomfist is UP and Sombra isnt particularly great without a good team.
Sombra is an opportunist. You really dont want to be getting into 1v1s as Sombra against full HP aware targets, even supports (And not just Moira, Zenyatta can also tear you a new one, and Mercy can be scary). She is the most team reliant DPS out there atm.
Doomfist’s method of dealing with her is the same as any other 200 HP char with mobility. Rocket Punch. Unfortunately that is currently unreliable AF because people cried about DF hitbox. But thats an issue inherent to doomfist and should be fixed.

His method is actually seismic slam uppercut combos. But rocket punch is much more reliable now after the patch.

If you really have to 1v1 Moira as Sombra, be sure to get her hacked before you attack since it’s extremely hard to kill her with one of her orbs out. You’d really need to track her head then.
Otherwise try to stay away a little and hack her when she overextends.
“With mobility”
So im talking about guys like Genji, Pharah, Mercy, i.e. guys he cant slam+uppercut combo reliably since they can escape safely.
Slam uppercut combos are effective against anything that doesn’t fly though, since it locks the person into place and prevents them from using movement keys long enough for effective 1-shot combos.
Alright so i guess with doomfist its more like a mind game to bait her… then kill.
I guess with Sombra I will wait till moira is engaged with someone else then hack and try to deal damage…
What abt her ulti ?? In general any counter ?
There are instant escape abilities, like WF, Ice Block, Swift Strike, Fade, Guardian Angel, Recall, etc, that allow them to escape from the combo. Which is why Rocket Punch is needed for those heroes unless the abilities are on CD or you catch them off guard.
Basically no dps hero can take on Moira 1v1 except for the snipers.
The answer is really to just be opportunistic. Once you see Moira spend her fade and she’s in a position that’s vulnerable, then you should spend your attacks to kill her.
Soldier can 1v1 her.
Tracer has a good chance in a 1v1 and should never die in that situation unless you overextend.
Mccree has a decent chance as well.
The thing is she is slippery AF and can get away from an engagement, but hey, thats the point of fade.

The thing is, most people’s experience of 1v1ing Moiras naturally comes from fights where Moira is already on cooldown.
I grabbed another GM Tracer player one time and we battled it out, switching who was Moira and who was Tracer every so often. It was a decently close fight if the orb wasn’t used. If the orb WAS used there was no way any Tracer would win that. Given that as GM players we’re better than most Tracers, and Moira isn’t a mechanically challenging hero, the fight presumably stacks more in Moira’s favour the lower down you go.
Similarly with McCree, if you stay at a 20m range and just a-d crouch spam, he needs to land four to five shots to kill you, which is frankly unlikely. If he lands a headshot, use your orb and fade behind a corner to heal, then re-engage. If you are about to force him to retreat, chuck a damage orb down his escape route.
Moira is just not a hero you should duel.

Have you ever just let Tracer disengage from the fight though?
The thing is when Tracer wins she kills the Moira, but Moira cant really chase down a Tracer that can retreat.
If you made it so that if the Tracer calls off the fight early and gets away doesn’t count as a full loss for the Tracer, but rather as a stalemate, I imagine it would be significantly less Moira favored.
If we had to get Tracer to fight to the death with every character in the game, she actually would have considerable issues with some of them, but then it isnt representative of Tracer’s actual strength.
As Sombra who tends to go after supports, the hardest targets to go after are Ana and Moira. Ana is pretty standard, you WILL get hit with her grenade, after that, it only takes two shots to kill you, but then she’s not very mobile so out maneuvering her isn’t any different from other players. Moira on the other hand, requires some rather special guidelines that you have to follow.
#1 Do not let yourself get cornered. Once she brings out her damage orb, you will be dead in two seconds. Which can be a hassle as it takes you three seconds to make a kill. Even longer if you’re fighting enemies that leech, like Moira, Brigitte and Reaper.
#2 Do not teleport in front of her if you can help it, particularly if you’re a backline harasser. She and D.va have very fast, very agile, burst mobility and can easily extrapolate your location based on the direction of your teleporter just by going to the nearest healthpack in that direction. If you have to, run behind a wall and teleport to keep her from seeing you disappear. If she gets a hint of your escape vector, pick a different healthpack for your next escape as she and D.va are very good at locating your translocators.
If you need to take her out, you have to ambush her, use cloak to get behind her, do not bother to hack, just uncloak and shoot straight away, doing as much damage as possible, and then teleport out before she can leech some of her health back. Do not reload in front of her or she’ll just negate the damage you did to her. On your second pass, you should have an idea of where the enemies are, try to get behind her again but just far enough not to be heard when you decloak and then hack her to keep her from fading away. If she didn’t get a chance to leech off an enemy, and she used her damage orb on your first pass, she should still have her health where you left her, this time finish her off.

thank you for the explanation
I guess i will wait little for her to get occupied and then try to hack her… but also as others have said moira seems to be a tough target for 1v1, so will also keep that in mind
