So I am a silver brig player(may as well be bronze because I feel like i need to learn some mechanics again)… when the enemy team in a comp match has doom and basically plays him absolutely like a feeder would(yes i know, and yeah his positioning and all imply that besides the fact he’s diving in without getting punished an all)… so my question is in spite of call outs by me, and stunning doom at the mostly right times when he dives in for a kill by my team, how do I make my team understand that we need to kill the doomfist bcs in like 1 in 5 matches i get a doom on the enemy and its almost a free win for them bcs of that pick… and no I would only play moira and brig so a sleep dart from me playing ana is out of the question(i plan on playing either moira or brig). Now most of the times my teammmates arent on comms so i manually type pls if possible focus the doomfist, i do not ask them to swap to counter picks otherwise they might play something they are not comfortable with. So the matches with an enemy doom, do i just play to my fullest and accept defeat or is there another way to not be defeated ??
My positioning to avoid the doomfist and help my tanks is mostly okay , so I do not get caught ,unless ofc the doom just straight up punches me while i’m engaged in a fight. So any help regarding this matter would be helpful.
It’ll be rough for you but you’re gonna be compensating for the team by basically sticking to your other support near the whole game by focusing on the Doomfist. You might also want to tune/lower out the music so you can hear the Doomfist sounds more accurately/ which direction he’ll come from.
At that point, your job isn’t even to kill the Doomfist but disrupt him and throw some healing packs if you think a Doomfist is going to strike. Usually, it’s better to waste a pack than not using it and have someone die.
You can take a look at how Violet, top 500 brig, plays and ask him for some fundamental advice but your main game is to disrupt the Doomfist flow by booping or stunning him. If you can do that, it’s close to a win since the doomfist got nothing.
It really depends on a couple of things. What role you play and how good the DF is. If the DF player is only moderately good they will be hard to kill, but also rarely get any kills themselves. In that case it’s almost best to just ignore them, push the objective/point and let them do their weird flanking thing while you win the match.
If your DPS you have several options to kill him, or at least drive him off. I kind of like Torb because he either runs away or focuses down your turret. Either way you waste his time and easily kill him if he doesn’t get healed enough.
Tank you really can’t do much but I would say Rein is best. he resist knock back far better and can easily kill DF if he sticks around to long. Finally support your pretty screwed in general as nothing you do can really help kill the DF.
How ever in terms of him having trouble with you Lucio or Moira are usually best. Very mobile, can easily avoid his attacks and/or heal up if they do hit. In general unless you have some kind of amazing DPS on your team however you just have to ignore him best you can.
Cause other wise it takes focus fire from nearly your whole team to kill a doomfist, and he will be right back from spawn in 20 seconds or less.
During Uppercut he is stunlocked for long enough that missing sleep dart is close to impossible since you have full control and can strafe/fight back, so Ana is only bad if the Doom is smart and bait the cooldown + is able to isolate you enough to where you can’t be peeled for.
Stay in range of your team mates, the moment he goes for one bash and stun him.
This on its own wok often save his target, and disrupt him- typically forcing him to retreat or die if he stays there too long (assuming he hasn’t been cleared up already from the stun)
If it’s a Doomfist that likes to down onto you instead of diving you with RP, use flail you boop him off course as he comes in.
Again just keep your targets in sight- and while he’s quick using slam, he’s not instant either- you’ll have a good second or change window to respond to him (if you haven’t seen him in about 10~ seconds or so, expect to). The boop of rocket flail is pretty damn powerful, and can veer him off course netting him a big fat 0 pretty easily (and again if you’re keeping your team mates in range and actively defending them, this becomes easier).
That zero means he’ll have generated no shields and be much more vulnerable, again typically forcing him to retreat or die trying.
Getting out repair pack on the target in the middle of this is also pretty damn handy- sometimes the Doomfist might try to trade his life for his targets. Stunning / booming him can decontrol persuade him- but it doesn’t hurt to have additional options at your disposal either if he tries.
You can use this reactively in those situations- or if you’re good at keeping tabs on time / have a fairly decent internal clock- armor out out preemptively around the cycle times mentioned previously.
Even if all you do is force Doomfist to “wait” because he can see that the target he wants has armor, that time he’s being forced to waste because of you.
Some of these are easier than others- there’s more available as well, but the point is you have options. Briggs can be pretty rough to play into as Doomfist if she’s actively body guarding
honestly brig can take him 1v1 save your bash for his punch and use it only if you cant dodge it, mostly you will get him low as well as keep your other supports up.any sensible doom will disengage after you spank and bash him if he stays he dies rinse repeat.
another thing you can do is use your other support as bait hold your shield and move up from your other support wait for doom to engage then go in for a 2v1 brig with another support help can destroy doom.
