How to deal with aimbotters/cheaters in ow2

i have a rather simple solution to stop cheaters from playing they are appearing more and more often instead of just banning there account i suggest a HWID/hardware level ban where xconsole or xpc mac addresses that are embedded into the network cards becomes banned and the most common characters being used by aimbotters are 76, hanzo, zen and sojourn ive caught many today along with others

I’m seeing a lot of claims of aimbotters and cheaters, yet no replays proving it.

I doubt aimbotters are using projectile heroes as I’ve never heard of an aimbot that accounts for distance/ projectile speed. If they are using those characters, they have no idea what they’re doing.

ive asked other players if they have seen aimbotters and they responded they have even some of my friends who are silver portraits are seeing them and sometimes if you actualyl record some stuff you can see xuser aimbotting

I always get a good laugh out of these types of “suggestions”. You do realize its stupidly easy to change hardware ID’s right? Even more so if they are running a VME.

you cant change the mac address though they can read that and block it instantly and plus virtual machines was never designed for gaming

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/MAC_spoofing

they dont need to be designed for it. VM has come a long way, think 1% performance drop vs running on BM

I have only ever seen one certain aimbotter, ive seen a bunch of questionable players that I can’t be certain about, but this one Hanzo was spinning around in a circle at a very high speed and the moment anyone would get close to him he would immediately shoot them in the head then continue spinning.

It was so obvious it was comical why they picked Hanzo I dunno but they did, this was QP too they never changed position or hero just spun in place, it was so strange.

HWID does nothing, as it can be spoofed.

I see cheaters too, but until they come up with a plan of ASKING MONEY for the game. It will be a major issue.

Are you sure they’re actual cheaters? Here’s a checklist:

Step 1: Is the “cheater” playing a hitscan (Soldier, McCree, Widow, Bastion, Sombra)?

  • If yes, proceed to next step
  • If no, it’s not a cheater

Step 2: Is the person’s name Dafran?

  • If yes, it’s not a cheater
  • If no, proceed to next step

Step 3: Are you just malding for no reason?

  • If yes, just git gud lil bro
  • If no, proceed to next step

Step 4: Just report the guy and move on

Aimbot for projectiles has been a thing for more than a decade

there are some very good ones for overwatch actually, if you google it and check the sites that sell them you can find out

literally lol the fact that people think aim bots wouldnt work for projectiles is the same reason why they aren’t spotting how widespread they are. Aimbots dont look like 360 no scope insta snap aim. They look almost natural

Just from playing against them a few times in other games (quake especially) at close range with faster projectiles they’re basically as scary as hitscan, at mid range with somewhat slower projectiles they usually aren’t all that great, and long range with faster projectiles aren’t all that great either.

Why would people even aimbot on a projectile DPS when it needs to predict movement, it makes you less efficient right off the bat.
