How to counter Sigma Ultimate ability as Brigitte/Baptiste

Played overwatch for the past 2-3 weeks and my question is how do I counter Sigma and his ability as Brigitte/Baptiste my support mains?
For Brigitte, can I try activating her shield to avoid the Sigma Ult which is an AOE slam attack, or not going to work?
Now for Baptiste can his immortality field ability work against Sigma or not which results in his death when playing against a Sigma player?
For those Brigitte & Baptiste Mains can you give me your Strategy on how to avoid a Sigma ult and ablitites

Sig’s ult cannot be blocked by shields and it will instantly kill anyone who is below 50% health at the moment of the drop. If you can prevent teammates from getting too low or prevent them from taking the impact damage, you can do some work against it.

Neither of them can truly counter it though. The only things that’ll really do that are killing or stunning the sig.

As Brig your safest bet is to escape the AOE before it’s triggered by shield bashing out of it. Bap can use AOE and targeted heals to keep people above 50% and the lamp can save people who would otherwise be killed by the slam.

Honestly, it’s a tough ult to do anything about in any reliable way. Even if you save people from the impact, everyone is going to be low health and easy pickings for the enemy team.

Kill Sigma, maybe use whip shot to see if you can knock him back at the right time that the player messes up their targeting.

For Bap just throw lamp on the ground while you’re in the air and you won’t die on impact, then burst heal. Or kill Sigma.

A small caveat is that it does 50% of your max health, but damage reduction and overhealth can stop the kill

I would argue healing people so they’re above the death range is literally countering it. Unfortunately, Overwatch players think “counter this” means “defeat it so he can’t use his ult anymore”.

You mean his immortality post. In the matches, I play once I pop Immortality Field the opposing team will target that first then Sigma goes for the Ult

Yeah, the immortality field. Lots of people call it a “lamp” for short.

What you’re describing there is mostly something that’ll be fixed with experience. Try to keep track of when enemies have abilities or ultimates that the lamp will help with. When you think the sig might have his ult, try to save the lamp until he uses it.

Honestly for Bap it’s pretty easy but you have to have your cooldowns up.

When you get lifted, just shoot your lamp straight down so anyone under 50% doesn’t die instantly. Bap’s aoe heal doubles the instant heal portion if the recipient is 50% or lower which is conveniently what Sigma’s ult drops you to.

So lift > lamp straight down > drop > instant double burst heal.

With brig just try to keep your aoe heals rolling so no one falls below 50% and keep healing after the drop. Not much you can really do. If you happened to pop ult before, it’ll just reduce people to 150 hp when they drop (200 hp + 100 overhealth/2 = 150 hp).

I dont think anyone can shutdown sigma ult besides ana or maybe sombra ?

For Brig, not much you can do, you can try to whack if there are something in range to trigger the heal, your team wont die immediately if they have above 50% hp

For Baptiste, always save either Immortality field or the shift heal, when go against Sigma.
Throw Immortality field under your feet, right before the slam down to avoid it being break by other enemies.
And the shift healing burst, you should use it when you and your team is right below 50%, since it heal more if the target is low on health, maybe it would be enough to keep some of your teammates alive

There is no real counter besides to kill him. But here are some tricks:

With Brig I would try to get a whipshot in and then shield up. So when you get down to 50%, you have some healing that gets you going again. If he focuses you with his attacks there is not really much what you can do. Also: never use the ult during it. It will not help.

As Bap its pretty easy. You wait and time it correctly to throw the lamp under you so you cant die when you hit the ground. If you have the burst heal ready, it looks like nothing happened. Yes you lost both cooldowns, but your survives and most likely also helped your mates and healed them.

Rally and Immortality Field are good choices for defending against Sigma’s ultimate.

This also works.

Rocket Punch, Hack, EMP, Hook, and Sleep Dart can shut down channels.

This is false.

You’re maybe not reading correctly. He spoke about Brig and Bap. Those two cant stop him besides killing him. You always answer a lot of people and have then false information in the the things you are pointing out or things that have no relevance.

Thats the point. Yes, he can be sunned or hacked or what ever, but not as Brig/Bap. That what my last comment was based arround.

They can’t stop his ult, but they can effectively counter it by keeping their team above a certain percentage of health to stop the team from dying. “countering” doesn’t always mean “stop the ults”.

In sigmas case I would say the stop it would be a good counter. Zen could also ult but there are better ways to use it. I also pointed the things you mentioned out in my latest post.

It’s easier sometimes to just shield bash behind cover that blocks line of site with the epicenter. If you block line of side with the dark circle in the middle of the ult you won’t get fluxed.

You mean using Zenyatta Ult as a sigma counter

Don’t get caught in it. Use lamp or rally.
