When I consume “adult beverages” my flanking skills are S tier
(for about half an hour then I have one more and they nosedive off a cliff faster than…something real fast)
A good hog of equal skill will smoke a Reaper in a 1v1. He has more util. and is just as lethal as Reaper in close range.
I dare to say that he could even be considered a counter to Reaper.
Why go Ana when you can go… Zarya?

I’m yet to play against a skilled Roadhog to be honest. I’m not a good Reaper player, but I know when to TP and when to back flank, and I’m smoking diamond Hogs when I’m bronze 5 outside of comp-I just like playing Reaper because of his style, skins and playstyle-get behind them and slit the throat.
It’s not feeding my ego or anything though because I know I’m only getting those kills because of luck nothing more, nowhere near skill. But if they showed the awareness they’re supposed to when I’m only a bronze player, it’s satisfying to know I can get these kills because of their arrogance.

Thing is I’ve played Mauga a few times, and I get the same feeling that I get when I play Orisa. Extreme boredom. He has a mini tracer on each arm…and it just feels monotonous. But when I play Rein, Zarya it’s more exciting because I actually have to think and use mental gymnastics to win 1v1’s. I just don’t get that with Orisa or Mauga at all.

Ways to counter hog
- stay more than 20m away
- if you cannot do 1. then hug a corner, box, any kind of cover to break hook
- use high-ground but do not stand at the edge like an idiot asking to be hooked
- pick any dps hero with good sustained damage or range or high burst (most heroes do fine against hog). Best choices: cass, hanzo, freja, ashe, widow, torb, echo, pharah, sojourn and short-range heroes like mei and symm also work very well (especially mei wall). Reaper is a good goto and bastion on some maps.
- on support: ana, zen, weaver (grip really screws up hog hooks), kiri (to suzu hooks and pressure hog with damage)
- on tank: just about anything is better than hog but best are: orisa, mauga, sigma, queen, dva. All tanks except doom work against hog. Hog can annoy ball but not really stop him without a team built around him to help. Zarya is generally a better pick than hog and can mow him down if someone on hog’s team feeds her charge. Hazard depends on the players but a decent hazard can make hog useless.
In summary:
Hog is the easiest tank in the game to counter because he has zero mobility, a massive hitbox and any sustained or burst damage makes him run for his vape and cover and be useless for 3 seconds.
Or, you just pick Ana and it’s gg most of the time anywhere below masters.

Nothing worse than watching that turn-hook target go off the map only to be pulled back on at the last second by a zero skill ability.
A Hog vs Reaper 1v1 is an incredibly close fight (or at least it used to be before the Hog rework). It’s a matter of whether you can juke 1 Hog hook without using Wraith and if you can get the first shot in, which, against a hog of equal or better skill, is not going to happen.
Mind you, that was before he was given an additional form of utility with pig pen and his reworked damage reducing Take-A-Breather.
Reaper alone is not enough to take down a Hog, which is a real bummer, since he is the type of tank that Reaper is supposed to accel at taking down.
