How to combat leavers in 2-2-2

Played last night with some friends and we had a leaver! And started a small discussion how to fix it.

The leaver in this case was a player in the support slot. So we was down one player and one support.

So to fix this we come to the conclusion that if this happens the roll should not be enforced anymore!

Is this a bad or good idea?

I don’t see a problem with this idea as long as it can’t be exploited to play without a role limit. If the person returns anyone not on their original role is forced to change.

its bad. who gets to change roll? everyone ? one?
What if the tank have 1000SR better as healer and change to heal and someone else go tank. is that fair?
How would the SR be calculated after?

I see alot of problems with this solution and it has been posted 2 days ago by another dude in here

everything will be exploited in comp online games, its human nature. Try give someone a finger and they try figure how to get the whole hand. its just how oure mind works

There is pretty many flex players and IF you lose one dps a tank CAN(?) switch over And if a support leaves a dps or tank can switch over to a off-healer!

But i think the most important thing is communication that after the introduction has almost disappeared!

And for second reply
Yes people is and will exploit everything in a game Overwatch is no different! Most people will join back in a limited time frame. And I don´t see a problem if the team need to wait 3 or more minutes before roll lock is not enforced any more.

Use machine guns and grenades.

Ok now serious… Well just hope leaver will come back and if not, do what you can do, switch support for main support for example, one off tank to main tank, try to compensate lost role with what you have.

Bad idea.

People should just quit after the x minutes.
The chances you win even with open slots is still less then 10%.
You should stop wasting people time and your own time.
Leave when you are allowed, so everyone can start the next game.

And what they should do:
Doing the same as in OWL, pauze the game as soon a player stops moving for x seconds. Even if someone come back within a minute. Playing a minute 5vs6 means often you lost (snow ball effect, people giving up).
So they should just pauze it. If someone dont move for 8 seconds, (last 3 seconds the user get a warning that he should move/press a key) this could mean this person is afk for a short period or he is loosing his connection.
If the game goes into pauze mode the user who affected this will always get a penalty. Going from an extra -5 SR, doubling each time this happens in a season.
So a player who paused the game 5 times during a season will get on the next pauze -80 SR.
People who loose their connection and do not get back within 2.5 minutes will get 3 penalties: so if it is their first time they get -20 SR, 2nd time -160 SR etc…
When they have 10 penalties they cant play any competitive any more the rest of the season and the season after it.

To combat leavers in QP:
People who leave will get flagged for 10 games. Every time they leave they get another 10 days. So someone who leaves get flagged for 10 games, playes for games and leaves again. So he got a flag for 16 games.
People who are flagged will be the fillers of the game:
Meaning when they queue they will fill spot of other players (in all game modes, so also arcade)
When 2-2-2 hits for QP: they cant pick roles until everyone else picked them.

This flag can also be used for people who troll or throw in QP, when they add the automatic check for those. (system to see if people are throwing: playing way worse then they usually do)

Once it is 5v6 the game is already lost. There is no “fixing” it.

I just want the team that lost one player will still have a chance!

Leavers will leave a game, someone have bad connection and lost it, you just have to admid it and move on. Play and do your best to lose as low as possible SR and next game is probably better one. Personally i have seen few times when someone on my team left in this current beta 2/2/2 and like 90% cases it is insta lose, but i lost only something like 15 SR so it didn’t felt so bad. Ofc there have been matches when my team have won 5v6, but in those cases enemyteam members are throwing clearly.

I feel bad for the DPS that wait 10 minutes, then lose their chance because a of an early leaver.

Those guys ought to get dibs on the next slot.

what if we increased the damage/ult charge/health a little bit to make up for the teammate who left

like increasing one of those by 20% for the team who’s down, so that it makes it more fair but not too much that a stack could have someone leave so they get the advantage

Make matchmaking better and punish the players not switching off to counter as this is the single biggest reason for leavers.
