How to avoid toxicity in just 2 simple steps!

Disable text chat and never join Voice chat. It’s what i do and not even the slightest bit of toxicity. The game is much more enjoyable when you don’t have to hear things such as “you’re trash/garbage” or “so & so switch you’re useless” etc. Also playing w/ friends and being in private chat w/ them helps make the game more fun too. I never solo Q anymore, only duo queue with my friend and we never join team chat, only private chat w/ just the 2 of us. If the community is being toxic then just don’t even interact with them at all :joy:

The drawback is it’s a team game and communication is vital lol. But ya, he aint wrong! :stuck_out_tongue:

Unless you play meta heroes or support, it’s usually best to not join voice. I try to be nice to everyone and am one of the few who stand up for people getting bullied for their picks, but yeah the community can be really toxic.

It’s always fun to be put on a team with a 5-stack. If your team loses or struggles, you will almost always be scapegoated as the problem.

how to avoid tosic. ban everyone for saying N*bba as soon as they do.

nobody can be toxic to you if you’re the first one to be toxic in your games though

“Call outs help,” they say…
“The game could use more support and tank players,” they say…
“Good communication and teamwork is enough to win with average mechanical skill,” they say…

Wesley234(Soldier 76): “Orisa, there’s an Ashe behind you”
Nub43v3r(Mei):“She can’t hear you…none of them can. I’m the only one. I’m almost there…”

But that only applies to people who are already toxic. My post is for those who are not toxic and want to avoid toxins

the following is my version of the two easy steps

  1. Blizzard permanently bans (or silences) a verified toxic player
  2. Repeat step 1 until all verified toxic players are permanently banned or silenced

Well if that’s what makes the game balanced, its doing a poor job anyway

you can’t because it’s online gaming, it’s either ignore them/thicken your skin, join them or mute all social aspects of your game. those are your options.

blizzard could accurately predict 99% of all toxic behavior and preemptively ban those people ahead of time and people would still complain about it. you’re gonna have BM and trash talking in every form of competition ever.

Problem with that is they can just make a new blizzard account, buy OW for it and continue being toxic. If they get banned again rinse and repeat. And on console you get infinite free alternate accounts

I see your point, but I also feel each toxic person removed form the game makes the game better, incrementally.

Joins vc

It was at that moment, Billy knew he Fd up

I certainly can and do, blizzard made text and voice chat optional for a reason and that reason is the same as this topic: toxicity. If I or anyone else wants to avoid it the tools are there. There is no reason why anyone needs to sit there and just see/listen to ppl being jerks

Blizzard can, if it wishes to do so, ban game licenses, mac addresses, ip addresses, etc etc etc

Not every verified toxic player will be willing or able to jump through these many potential levels of ban

Each toxic player who is banned and is then unwilling or unable to circumvent the ban represents (as I see it) an incremental improvement to the game

OMG game is so much more peaceful with chats disabled

Yes blizzard can ban a game license but that still does not prevent that player from creating a brand new blizzard account and buying a brand new OW game license for their brand new account. Blizzard would never go to the extent of banning a Mac/IP address because that would mean they lose money

I mentioned the possibility of a device ban, ip ban, and also added “etc”.

The methods you describe here would not work in all such cases, and in some cases, the banned person would be unwilling or unable to do as you suggest

Jeff has said (gist, not a quote) that if you are a toxic person, Blizzard does not want to you playing this game.

I believe that Blizzard will make more money by keeping existing and attracting new players due to the game environment becoming less toxic than it is in other competing games. We’re certainly not there now, but we could be
