How to aim properly on console

Yeah just as the name implies. I’ve been playing console overwatch since season 1 and my aim is not bad but it’s not great. I would like some tips on how to aim and what aim assists to use.
I’ve not really been much into FPS games in the past ie cod, halo etc. Kinda like battle field and titan fall but didn’t play a lot so I guess that’s why I’m struggling a lot. I really like overwatch tho. Just a shame I suck at it

Honestly all you can really do is practice by playing the game. There’s really no tips to aiming it’s just something you get good at. Just start at the sensitivity you’re good at and leave aim assist on at max so you can practice.

The thing about console is that the default sensitivity that all new players start with is slow af, which makes skinny heroes like tracer impossible to hit. I suggest going on to the practice range or a custom game where you’re invincible with 6 Anas and adjusting your sensitivity until you’re comfortable with it.

I’m currently at 95 sensitivity horizontal and vertical. (but I’m a Mercy/Dva/Moira so i guess its kinda brainless)

For aim assist you never want it at 100, it slows down your character way too much, I keep mine at 55, its a good balance.

And use Dual Zone technique thingy I forgot what its called. Linear Ramp can go die.

yeah I’m not that good so sorry if this doesn’t help you

I have been creating headshot only modes in the custom menu. If you can hit the head, you can hit anything.

Create some custom matches and players will join. You’ll get paired with beginning bronze players all the way to masters.

Can’t really do anything but practice. But I can tell you the next best thing is to find a right setup. I tried playing on console during the free weekend, and yet to find a decent setting.

Hey buddy, I play on console and I’ve spent a lot of time experimenting with the settings.

I always use Linear Ramp as the aim technique. It feels more natural than the other 2 settings and is the most consistent aim technique, but I’ve been playing around with Dual Zone 70/70 and high aim ease in on a couple heroes like Winston and d.Va. Go ahead and try Linear Ramp and 50 horizontal, 50 vertical, 100 aim assist, 100 aim window size, and 50 aim ease in. Do this the shooting range practice area before you hop into a game. The idea is to have your sensitivity as high as you can play with comfortably, and you need to be accurate as well as able to turn quickly enough if something is behind you. For characters like Mcree and Soldier, I use 37 horizontal, 32 vertical, linear ramp, and 55 aim ease in. Just leave the aim assist and assist window size at 100 for hitscan characters. Start at high sensitivity and slowly work your way downward in sensitivity until you’re comfortable. Melee heroes like Winston, Brigitte, Genji, etc, you should use a higher than normal sensitivity, you’ll be turning a lot more than say, Mcree or Ana. For the sniper heroes Ana and Widowmaker, set your scoped in sensitivity to 45. That’s the most natural feeling setting, especially if you’ve come from the twitch shooters like CoD.

It’s all going to come down to preference in the end, but linear ramp is the most consistent aim technique. I’m just a diamond player as well.
