I want to be very clear and spot on. So I will keep this short.
The game started with the basic heros we all know about.(Tracer, hanzo etc.) And all heros were addressed with classes. Offensive defensive supports and tanks.
What happens if you combine them? You unwillingly lose balance in the game unfortunately. And it is quite hard to restore.
Soldier Mcree hitscans.
Tracer genji. Flankers
and it keeps going on. The offensive and defensive heros have sub categories in themselves.
What I am wondering is the fact that Brigitte is considered as a support. I would call her a tank tbh. The fact that a support can counter(hard counter tbh) a flanker should not be considered in the game as in terms of balance. Roadhog was a tanky flanker oneshot hero. That changed made a lot of people angry but it was necessary because the counters were not in fact powerful against him. SO the damage change + walking healing stuff might be considered balanced imo. But Brigitte + Doomfist + Moira which are the last heros. Require very much minimal skill in lower elos and is hard to counter if the players who play it have a good grip on it.
So what I believe should be done. Either nerf brigittes stuns times and damages and stuff. Or just make her a tank and take of her healing like a a mini Reinhardt and slow down the left click a little bit. Not very slow like reinhardt but a little faster… The heros should be effective in their roles and should NOT be able to outplay other heros based on ther skillset. Just saying…
Naah you get the point just don’t focus on the small facts. We aren’t talking about streamers who do crazy things on gm and stuff. Look at the big picture. There is bronze silver gold…
Characters in this game needs to be balanced. I mean when a genji is fighting with a moira or tracer vs moira, one moira damage bubble does nearly 150 damage and moira is a class that doesnt need any aim. You see the point ? Game should reward the classes that are hard to play with. Otherwise why would people play with aim required classes. So pointless
The reason they add “no aim” heroes as you describe them, is to expand to their target market. Expanding the target market, introduces new players to the game, thus giving the game more life, meaning more people to play against. Do you think someone who’s never played an FPS before is going to jump right in and play Genji, Tracer, Widow, McCree, etc? Probably not. They want to allow a smoother ease into the FPS genre for people who’ve never played one before.
I as a Reinhardt main, have only ever had problems with a Brigitte once out of the last 40+ games I’ve played. That of course was because I was trying to do stuff with Rein that I hadn’t done before.
The reason I was trying stuff that I hadn’t done with Rein before because he’s stale, I have probably a good 450+ hours on Rein, counting all of the time I spent on him in Closed Beta, back then I didn’t have a job so all I did was play OW.
I think each hero requires skills and to say certain heroes require minimal or no skills is false. I think certain players have different skill sets that make them better with certain heroes. But I totally agree that Birgitte needs to be nerfed. Her cooldown for shield bash is too short.
Ok you are possibly right assuming their necessity to expand target market and create heros such. But the thing is the exponential peak has been reached and no longer will the game get a huge amount of new customers just because a new hero has been developed. This game will not experience a situation like pubg players going to fortnite unless a new company creates a game similar to overwatch. They must keep in close touch with the gaming experience because the majority of the players are sub 3500. And people in those elos want to play heros like genji and tracer. Its like yasuo in league of legends.(I know I know bad example but true unfortunately.) You shouldn’t be killing the low tier gaming society. In high elos everyone knows the capacity of their hero. But in lower and no aim elos(sorry to say that) people will just get fed up eventually. and the time will come when lores wont be enough. Diversity is good… But change is usually not much appreciated…
The weird thing is when you type Overwatch in the google. In the game information in the wikipedia it says Team based Multiplayer First Person Shooter. So basicly containing non aim heroes in a first person shooting game ? Which makes no sense
But ok they put non aim heroes to attract more people to this game etc. Does that mean that the non aim heroes do similar damage comparing to classes needs skill. Cause when i play with tracer against moira if i want to kill her i have to land every bullet that i got to kill her without any mistake while she hold mouse1 dont make too much afford maybe she can do 1 timing mistake yet she can kill me??
Thats unfair. Please think this with clear mind. Im not offending any class just saying there should be balance
Change is nessecary, if overwatch doesnt change and characters added to evolve the gameplay, it will get stale and boring and people will move on, Blizzard learned that with WoW so they are not making the same mistake with overwatch
In a recent player round table Fissure(Best main tank), remarked how he was wary of Overwatch at first because his aim wasn’t the best and he didn’t think he could get good. Then he played Reinhardt and realized that he could use his tactical and strategic skills with certain heroes to have just as much of an impact as an aim heavy DPS.
Reinhardt doesn’t require any aim, so are you implying that Fissure is bad because he plays no-aim heroes?
Also, if you are playing Tracer and getting killed by Moira consistently, you’re doing it wrong.
My opinion on balance regarding the whole class based system is this:
There should be counters in all Roles vs. other Roles.
Offense Heroes
Some Offense Heroes should be able to to counter some Defense Heroes.
Example: Genji should be able to counter Widow and Hanzo. But might have difficulty doing so if the enemy has a Winston peels for their Sniper. In this scenario, you should also have someone to counter the Winston as well.
Some Offense Heroes should be able to counter some Offense Heroes.
Example: McCree should be able to counter Tracer, but might have difficulty doing so if she successfully baits his Flashbang. Or they might have a Hog who’s purposefully hooking the McCree so Tracer can have free reign on the backline. In a scenario like this we now have Brigitte and Moira to help defend the backline.
Some Offense Heroes should be able to counter some Tank Heroes.
Some Offense Heroes should be able to counter some Support Heroes.
Defense Heroes
Some Defense Heroes should be able to counter some Offense Heroes.
Some Defense Heroes should be able to counter some Defense Heroes.
Some Defense Heroes should be able to counter some Tank Heroes.
Some Defense Heroes should be able to counter some Support Heroes.
Tank Heroes
Some Tank Heroes should be able to counter some Offense Heroes.
Some Tank Heroes should be able to counter some Defense Heroes.
Some Tank Heroes should be able to counter some Tank Heroes.
Some Tank Heroes should be able to counter some Support Heroes.
Support Heroes
Some Support Heroes should be able to counter some Offense Heroes.
Some Support Heroes should be able to counter some Defense Heroes.
Some Support Heroes should be able to counter some Tank Heroes.
Some Support Heroes should be able to counter some Support Heroes.
I really don’t want to have to provide a full list of examples and make this post ridiculously long.
The whole point of counter picking is that any one hero shouldn’t be viable in every situation (which ironically is something we are facing. Due to varying skill levels.)
Like in CoD (I can’t believe I’m making this reference but lord help me) If you keep entering an area covered by a sniper and dying to it. You should be thinking of another strategy to deal with said sniper. If you don’t change your strategy, sure you might eventually deal with said sniper but wouldn’t you want to take the first opportunity to completely shut down that sniper?
In the case of OW, the strategy of counter pickicking is your way of dealing with a problem like described above. Why not use all of the tools available to you to take advantage of the enemies weakness to win?
That’s like going to school and getting a scholarship, but then not using it. Why not use that tool available to you to help your financial situation and make life easier for yourself.
Yet another topic of “I’m a high skilled hero, such a special snowflake, why I’m not being rewarded”. Guess what? Overwatch is not and was never a classic FPS game and that’s why it made so much success, it makes place for people who doesn’t have aim to play and succeed.
Every critic I see is always based on a 1v1 scenario. It’s a 6v6 game, it does not mather if you have the best mechanics in the world if you can’t play and communicate in teams.
Get a grip, get a life and get over it. Stop whinning “OH MY GOD I JUST GOT DESTROYED BY A HERO WHO DOES NOT REQUIRE AIM, GG BLIZ”, you’re not special and better than any player that uses aiming or non-aiming heroes that payed the same ammount as you for the game.
You are absolutely right in every single case you made. But how do you believe Brigitte fits into it? I have recommended a ban system on another post and in support as a suggestion for each team on a vote system. Each team votes for 1 hero, 2 heros total.(This is for competitive gaming ofc.) They can implement it easily on the right corner of the screen. So that when we see a game and get threatened by someone or any hero in any case you just eliminate it. If you cant balance the term “Fps MOBA”(moba??? really??) since its been scattered around so frequently. Just change the system for competitive overwatch, And balance the game throughout the system. Seems much more sustainable and viable…
No fissure is a great player cause he plays Winston who i Think requiers alot of skill even though he is auto aim.
Now heroes like moira, junrkat, bridgette take absolutely 0 skill
Well my friend that is something veeery different. That is another case of wtf. Every player thinks themselves as they die to a junkrat." Oh not this random junkrat sh*t again."
