How should QP and it's mmr system be?

Me and my friends are one of those players that treat Quickplay semi-seriously. I don’t think it’s good for QP to be a trollfest. But I also don’t mind if the game isn’t that serious and players goof around. I will not do any spawn roll out techs and only counterswap if it’s really necessary to help my team and make sure my teammates can have a good time. I also see Quickplay as a good way to practice shotcalls and just have a good time synergizing with my teammates, trying out new combos etc.

Why is that the QP MMR system is so wide or weirdly arranged? I could be playing in high ranked lobbies that are sweaty af and it’s kinda expected to tryhard or in lobbies where we stomp plat/diamond players with little to no effort and not even playing seriously. Solo queueing is also terrible, because there’s a lot of stacks. Sometimes, the matchmaker places me into games where I’m expected to carry 4 noobs against a team of quickplay tryhards, other times, it’s just me or someone else being the server admin over some gold players. People tend to ragequit and leave… in QP!!

I think they should make the quickplay matchmaker more narrow in terms of MMR range and let the players decide if they want to sweat or not. It has always been a gentlemen’s agreement. I’m usually testing the waters at the start of every match and if they tryhard I tryhard back, it’s just an ego thing.

I don’t know how they can fix QP. Since a Bronze player can add a T500 player has friend and play together.

QP is a lost cause.

It seems getting into games with 3 or 4 player groups are the most stompy games, where the other team’s stack is much stronger for some odd reason.

The problem with stomps in quickplay is that it’s only happening when:

  1. players on one team treat quickplay like competitve (especially stacks)

  2. players ranks are extremely wide.

Both of these scenarios happen regularly for me while solo queueing.

Having to play against sweats while your own team is unironically the suicide squad isn’t fun. On the other hand, pubstomping noobs without even having to try isn’t either. It’s better for sure, but it gets boring after a while…

Roll out techs are fun. Change my mind.

Because it’s quick play. The point is to find matches quickly and to just get to play the game.

Unlimited grouping adds on to this. I don’t know how wide the match maker is, but I strongly assume most stark differences in ranks (like 1.5-2+ ranks) are due to grouping.

If you want strict match making… like… there is comp. Just one button away, you know?

Exactly and blizzard will treat it seriously anyway, that’s why we have a leaver penalty. So it’s not casual/semi casual or in other words lost in translation and don’t know what it wants to be.

That implies that you have to play comp in order to have fun. What if you don’t want to play ranked, if not only for that reason?

How can you practice a hero if the majority of matches are so lop-sided that you can’t really learn anything? And, assuming that QP should be the more fun oriented gamemode, how fun can it be if it is mostly sweaty anyways?

Where is the fun gamemode where I won’t get flamed or reported but also don’t have to deal with constant stomps either way?

No, it doesn’t. Plenty of people have plenty of fun in QP. Granted, I haven’t played in a while, but a few months ago my QP games were safely in the “okay” area. The 6v6 min1 matches were horrible, though, but that’s because it was effectively open queue

If you’re not having fun, tough luck. If you want strict match making with balanced teams (which means no grouping outside of your MMR, bye bye friends, and even stricter leaver penalties), but also a chill community that doesn’t care about what’s happening in the game and just wants to have laid-back fun, you’re asking for something that’s unrealistic imo.

I think QP will always be a little bit sweaty and will require MMR matches because you are forced onto roles. But waiting 5+ minutes to get into a lopsided quick play match sucks, so if they want to prioritize queue times, they should loosen it up and make it a much less sweaty mode with looser MMR.
