How many times must we tell the devs to fix matchmaking?

These horrendous matches, these damn stomps over and over? Does it mean nothing for the devs to make the matches actually good? We get matches within seconds, and they are HORRIBLE. Do the devs not feel any shame for this low quality they are presenting? All that energy wasted in making new modes, new ways to play, new abilities and new characters, yet they fail over and over and over again to make something that people enjoy to play?

How do you know it is the matchmaking?

Seriously, I think the VERY moment they change the game so it isn’t anything like as stompy, where there isn’t so many mechanics to help the winning team win more… you would suddenly think the matchmaker was far better.

The game is practically built to be stompy as hell… OF COURSE it has stomps.

Legend has it that once an individual has asked 69,000 times in 420 different ways that they will finally fix matchmaking. Get to it and save us, TinderLaw.

They won’t understand dude, I can’t count how many time I opened a thread asking for that but they simply don’t care.

Too much work, not enough profit.

You been rambling on about this stuff for years but you still play. So for you infinity times

I don’t get it either. It’s obviously very easy to make a balanced matchmaker. That’s why every other multiplayer game has solved the problem. Only Overwatch faces this particular challenge.

It’s particularly frustrating because all they need to do is toggle the switch currently set at ā€œcreate streaks and rig gamesā€ to ā€œcreate perfectly balanced games every time.ā€

Nah. The matchmaking in this game sucks and Mahvel proved it. I am sorry. It’s bad. Really bad. Like, so bad that I do not even care. No wonder I progressively took this game less and less serious. There’s no point in pretending that these lobbies are vaguely matched properly.

People crying they little eyes out about Mahvel, but maybe they forgot what this nonsense was like. But I did not forget. Because I kept doing lootbox missions. Mahvel is a gift from the gods by comparison. All of those ā€œboostedā€ players and rank inflation with ā€œno balanceā€ and new players who just want to play their favorite super hero mixed with Smurf city to make a disastrous cocktail of discord did far less damage than an average day on Onlywatch.

The issue isn’t the matchmaking; it’s that players don’t understand that a one-sided match can happen for many reasons even between two teams are made up of ten clones of the same person. There’s nothing that needs fixing more than player attitudes.

Right, because when I play into smurfs, or qp vs masters when I’m not ranked or at best I reached low plat isn’t the mm fault

So…I’m not sure how you can make the claim that Rivals matchmaking is better. I’m GM in that game (took only two weekends to grind there from the bottom), and the way that ranked system worked is totally messed up.

You can climb in Rivals with about a 40% win rate, and there are no placements, which means every rank is a mixture of people of various skill levels. It’s so clear to me in-game which people got there by just playing a ton of matches instead of actually being good. Did you know that game has more GM3 players than bronze 2? That’s incredible.

But cmon; they asked many times to fix it. Just poof, it’s fixed problem solved. Glad OP won’t have to ask anymore.

That’s not a MM issue, because almost every QP match includes groups of mixed-skill friends playing together. You’re going to see that in QP, and you’re supposed to.

People can like whatever games they do, but clearly a lot of rivals players had issues with it too. It’s lost more than half its playerbase in 2 months.

How does one know the rank of their opponents? Is this based off of the name tags (which could have been earned a long time ago and/or on a different role entirely)?

I just don’t think a platinum mercy playing tank is necessarily a bad matchmaker result…

Dude absolutely not, happens in qp, happens in comp too due the smurf presence and those games won’t be winnable good attitude or not, but is a lost cause, had this kind of argument with a lot of peoplein the forum and is always onesided, like those matches who can’t be won, I won’t sweat in such bad mm matches. I just play on autopilot and wait the match is over

I actually respect my teammates in that game. Do you have any idea how rare that is in Overwatch. I always thought I was a complete big fat meanie. This game actually gaslight me into believing that I was the superbeast because I am never facing competent opponents and my teammates always refuse to function like human beings. I started believing that was what real people were like from so much exposure to this nonsense. And then when I played Mahvel I realized that real people exist. The freaking bots in that game are better than my teammates in this game.

And yet they are somehow better than Overwatch players. Weird. Only it’s not weird at all. Because the matchmaking actually works in that game.

I am not saying it is perfect. I am saying that Overwatch matchmaking should be a war crime and I have psychological damage from enduring that torture.

That seems natural to me if there’s PBMM in Marvel. If you are performing ā€œwellā€ losses don’t hurt as much as your team and you outpace them.

Problem then becomes whether or not people will play for ā€˜stats’ rather than the game itself. So, tradeoff I guess.

dude seen this dozen of times, I mean NONE NONE NONE BESIDE ME have the simple concept of ā€˜ā€˜fall back and regroup’’

The smurfs part isn’t the matchmakers fault.

Stopping smurfs is important, and there are systems to do that, but the matchmaker isn’t it.
