Given it is start of the season and t500 is actually high masters… how many real people are there behind that end season t500 list? I feel like it’s basically 200 people and their alts…

Some pros have like 15 alts on that leaderboard
For PC players, accounts must use Phone Authentication in order to qualify for top 500.

It does effectively reduce the appearance of alt accounts in Top 500, unless you have multiple dedicated cell phone lines (landlines, burner phones, VoIP numbers do not work with this feature), you can only have one account at a time in the Top 500.

there’s a pro in EU who has 5 account on top 500, how u explain that?

Ask the pro, I don’t have a name so I can’t say unless I get more details. For as far as I know, he may have 5 phone numbers.
I did recently confirm the Top 500 rules with Community Manager Josh Nash and as far as I know the PC Phone Verification rule should still be intact.

Certainly less than 500 per leaderboard, I can say that for sure.
My guess has always been around 10-15% are alt accounts. I don’t know what % of people appear on multiple leaderboards but that would bring the total number of top500 players down, too. If there’s 2000 slots (3 roles + all roles) and I’m ranked on all of them, there’s only 1996 slots left for everyone else, ya know?
I wonder how many people are in top500 sr ranges but aren’t sms linked.

However, I still have to make the argument that I am aware that you need phone number to qualify for t500 board, but I highly doubt it implys 500 different people. As we all know from last season’s EU t500 board, the user Kevster has the ability called kakebunshin no jutsu that can copy himself 5 times to be top 1-5…
Oh I don’t think any PC Top 500 in any region is perfectly 500 unique individuals. I just don’t think the perception that is only about 200 due to alt accounts is accurate and more or less an over exaggeration.
How do they do that?

It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure out how it is done. Each account has a different email address. Each address is linked to authenticator. Authenticator can be associated with multiple accounts.
Yes, probably 200-300. Hard to say definitively. I lean more towards 300.
Okay. People can use their family’s phone numbers or buy their own pretty cheap. Some people think there’s value in multi-accounting in top 500 to shove the people that would be in the bottom 100 (or even higher) out.
Have you not heard of burner phones?
I mean its not fair towards those which barely doesnt make it in, but … i wont ever make it up there so far soooo shrugs
Alt Accounts had to stomp their way up there, despite SR gain ratings. Now imagine aaaaaaaaaall the uneven matches people get each day…

IT does, people always go “well you could to that” but truth is most don’t. I am sure there are some alts, but the majority I doubt it.
Yeah if they knew the definition of a burner phone they would realize just how stupid that statement actually sounds
I can get a pre-paid with bought number of text messages and pay for more anytime I need to verify, all around 30-50 bucks
