I really hope 8-10 at launch. After that, 1 hero every 4 months for at least 3 years.
I don’t care if they have more microtransactions, I want new content (like apex legends)
I am expecting 3 at launch and maybe 3 more for the first 1-2 years in total until they stop again.
Now with PvE on the way, creating heroes will become even more time consuming not to mention even more skins for new and old heroes.
And on top of creating new heroes there will have to be new maps and more PvE content than ever before. If they couldn’t manage content for OW1 properly, OW2 is a hopeless situation.
For now we know that we have Sojourn and Junker Queen was accidentally seen in part in some tech demo so she is very probable.
During a Game Informer visit to the headquarters at the end of 2019 they saw a slide with the silhouette of four heroes, and three of the forms were female. One of them was “a female with short hair, a giant shuriken and a fennec fox like companion”. She is probably the one from Kanezaka. The “male held a crooked staff, looking somewhat like a wizard, warlock, or voodoo priest”.
So there is the possibility of at least four.
Also Magua is a fan favourite and there is the big possibility of him being another one.
Also, but this is merely my opinion, since we’re getting Monte Carlo and Rome and there is a tradition of making heroes and not-deathmatch maps from the same nations (with the notable exception of Rialto), there is imho the possibility of two other heroes.
Sojourn, plus there were 4 silhouettes shown in a French gaming mag and none of them were Sojourn.
So a minimum of 5, BUT
none of those silhouettes really lined up with Asa (there was a woman with a small creature, but that character was describing having a giant shuriken, while Asa uses a sword) or Mauga either, who are extremely likely to become heroes. So reasonably 7.
I don’t think any of them matched up with the Junker Queen either, and her assets were leaked. However its also possible she will be an NPC in the story mode so I wouldn’t make any assumptions on her.
They’re going to trickle release the ones they have (if they have any). Remember, Blizzard’s goal is to string people along as much as possible, not make quality products. OW2 is going to be sold on the premise that we are getting a lot of new content - in reality it’s just backfill that we would have got if they weren’t such a scum company.
