How many lives will Overwatch claim?

There’s a growing graveyard of games that Overwatch has taken the life of…

The comical irony is that trolls claimed some of these games would “be the death of Overwatch” or “provide what Overwatch failed to and steal players away” while Overwatch has continued to reign supreme

In this grave lies…

  1. Gundam Evolution :skull_and_crossbones:
  2. Battleborn :skull_and_crossbones:
  3. Lawbreakers :skull_and_crossbones:
  4. Exoprimal :skull_and_crossbones:
  5. The Finals :skull_and_crossbones:
  6. Titanfall 2 :skull_and_crossbones:
  7. Paladins :skull_and_crossbones:
  8. Dirty bomb :skull_and_crossbones:

And given enough time it looks like Palworld might be claimed as well (from 2.1 million peak players to not even 400k in less than a month… It’s not looking good…)

While not dead, Valorant, Apex, COD Warzone, PUBG and Fortnite all failed to kill Overwatch, though some trolls claimed they would succeed in doing so.

Did I miss any other forum praised games that have become or are becoming irrelevant?

Battleborn & Lawbreakers come to mind. Maybe Titanfall 2 at a stretch?

Valorant & Apex Legends deserve honourable mentions as while you certainly can’t call either of those games failures, they also haven’t killed Overwatch like promised either.

Don’t really think Palworld should be on this list, as it’s a different genre, not a live service and overall isn’t really competing with OW except in the most universal sense of the word.

What are you talking about I can find matches in Exoprimal faster than OW. The only one of those who shut down was Gundam.

Since when does a game need to kill other to be successful?

i can see what you are saying but palworld? i think thats just a flavor of the month thing like among us was. still wasnt among us a bit more popular for longer?

Pretty sure fortnite has killed more (including OW)

All fair.

That’s fair. I included it because there were forum posts about how popular palworld was becoming (in an attempt to say Overwatch is not as popular as X new game) but Palworld has dropped like a rock in less than a month.

No one is talking about whether or not Fortnite is successful, we all know it is. The point is that Fortnite, Apex and Valorant all failed to “kill” Overwatch like many people claimed they would over the years. There were many posts claiming those things.

Honestly, it’s hard to imagine overwatch killing anything. It’s such a hot, stale dookie of a game. It’s one of those games you either take horribly seriously because you’re a teen with a dream to play video games for a living or it’s a fun way to find easy targets if you feel like doing a little trolling. There’s really not much in between.

If other games are losing their fan followings, I really doubt overwatch would be the reason.

This isn’t a Fortnite post. This post is about how many games Overwatch has trampled over in the face of claims that said otherwise

It is hilarious to even think that OW is relevant in 2024

Just goes to show how full of it all the trolls saying “Overwatch is dead” are and have been because Overwatch is still relevant 8 years later

This thread is a lot of messed up logic dude. Fortnite, Cod and Apex are the three biggest pvp shooters in the world and OW isnt close to them.

OW isnt a threat to them and they dont care about this game.

OW didnt kill Palworld either bud, thats a joke of a logical leap.

Arguably it did kill battle born and beat out paladins. Never heard of lawbreakers. OW didnt kill titanfall

Gundam EVo is a maybe, it may have never been popular with or without ow though. You are projecting a lot with that one

As much as stracraft is relevant.
I bet you forgot that game even exist xD

For real! :joy: I don’t even know anyone outside of the forum who plays it anymore, not even some I know who used to make it their entire online persona.

Less “overwatch is dead” and more “overwatch is a really, really, really big and tasteless joke.”

Isn’t palworld just a single player game. Y’all need to stop humping twitch viewership likes it’s the only metric to a games success. Palworld is a game you beat and eventually put down by design. It’s not like other live service games. Where to 2,000 people are working on a game for a decade straight.

Even twitch views aren’t favorable when comes to OW xD

Overwatch killed those games… sure buddy.

Thats only true for maybe a couple of these. Definitely not pal world, thats straight up ridiculous tbh.

Games like paladins and gundum were second rate in the first place.

Battle born was interesting and ow did kill it but the rest of this was nonsense

At first i thought this was about you know what

In paladins I get a Q just as fast as in ow if not faster
Paladins is not dead at all

Not sure what this obsession is with ow and comparing other games to it…

Ow is a bad game… This game will not kill any other game

Hear this in the mmo genre all the time
Yet each game still has their major playerbase

Also, if people get this from twitch… Look at Warframe
that game has barely any viewers daily (unless there is a dev stream)
1-3k per day while steam charts count 50-70k players a day lol
Just becuz people don’t watch twitch doesn’t mean a game is dead

This obsession on this is bad for y’all’s health…

Palworld is a finite game with finite content. People play it and move on. It never competed with OW.
